World Stroke Day & Fish‑Pointing Firearms: Why Your Brain's Plumbing Matters More Than Office Microwaves
Description
We celebrated the internet—that glorious buffet of opinions and dopamine that never closes—then pivoted to National Hermit Day, because sometimes the best community service is ghosting everyone and refusing to answer your phone.

Show Notes
Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell kicked off another irreverent Thursday morning on 100.3 KROCK, Fort Walton Beach's classic rock station, brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. With a gorgeous high of 83 degrees on tap for South Okaloosa County (the third-to-last day of October, for those keeping score), the boys dove headfirst into the National Day calendar — because nothing says "morning radio" like World Stroke Day, a holiday that "shows up uninvited, ruins your plans, and still expects you to be grateful." Bobby's been dutifully downing 20 milligrams of lucinaprol for breakfast, proving that even sarcasm has a copay. Then came International Internet Day, celebrating "the invention that gave everyone a microphone and somehow nobody a point," followed by National Hermit Day (ghosting your friends counts as community service) and National Cat Day (because one day a year isn't enough for an animal that freeloads, judges you, and still expects room service).
The show welcomed Zulma from the Hispanic Heritage Festival, who's orchestrated the event three times thanks to uncooperative weather — third time's the charm, right? Happening Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. at The Landing in downtown Fort Walton Beach, the festival promises live music, Peruvian-Colombian-Cuban-Mexican food (Bobby's already salivating over horchata), cultural dance performances, and a hurricane relief station. It's free, family-friendly, and kicks off with a Pilates class, because nothing says "heritage celebration" like downward dog at dawn. Also on tap: the One Hopeful Place Chili Cook-Off on Sunday at Lou's Tavern (11 a.m. to 2 p.m., bring cash), plus Halloween madness all weekend — trunk-or-treats, Brooks & Bay shutdowns, and a Rocky Horror Murder Mystery Dinner at La Sala Event Center in Navarre.
In today's Ask Uncle Bobby (brought to you by Hard Rock Bet), a listener asked whether refusing to "bring your whole self to work" makes them a bad employee. Bobby's verdict? "Your whole self is not in the budget. The company is renting your skills — it's not buying the deed to your childhood, your hobbies, your heartbreaks, or whatever picture of a hiking trail you took in 2018." He advised keeping it boring, professional, and technically responsive: "Coffee fuels me. Post a mug. Keep it clean. The corporate machine hates boring because it cannot turn boring into a poster." Amen, Uncle Bobby. Also discussed: a South Carolina detective who pulled a gun on a fellow officer for microwaving fish in the break room (Bobby would've acquitted him on the spot), and a study revealing that 99% of cat food contains heavy metals like lead and arsenic. So your cat's not just ignoring you — it's also slowly poisoning itself with Metallica-grade tuna.
The boys wrapped up with shoutouts to the Niceville Eagles (volleyball state tournament bound), Troy Trojans football (playing James Madison tonight at Third Planet Brewing in Niceville — currently 19-point underdogs, so "never been a better day for an upset"), and the Okaloosa County Middle School Championship game Friday at 6 p.m. (Megs vs. Destin Middle). Whether you're hitting the Hispanic Heritage Festival, the chili cook-off, or just avoiding your coworkers on National Hermit Day, the Emerald Coast has you covered. Find all the details at thebteamshow.com or emeraldcoastconnected.com — where 290+ events await, because apparently we can't sit still for five minutes. Now go forth, drink your horchata, and remember: if someone microwaves fish, you have our full moral support to draw your weapon. Stay classy, Fort Walton.

(00:00) Here's today's B Team Redux. Classic rock station is 100.3 KROCK. Good morning, everybody. Welcome to the B Team Morning Show, brought to you by Stripes Pub and Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (00:16) We've got a beautiful Thursday in store here in South Okaloosa County. A high today of 83 degrees for the third to final day of October. That is pretty darn nice. Gorgeous weather. (00:31) We've got a guest coming in, Zulma with the Hispanic Heritage Festival. She's the one that's putting this gig on at the landing this weekend, and we're gonna learn more about everything she's got planned. Now, Bobby and I had her in like a month ago for the originally scheduled date, but you know, we had a couple weekends of uncooperative weather in there, and obviously looking forward to her event on Saturday. (00:56) But we'll get to all this other stuff in just a bit. We gotta talk about our National Day calendar. Yeah. And Bobby, this one is World Stroke Day. Oh, it's the holiday that shows up uninvited, ruins your plans, and still expects you to be grateful. (01:12) Check your blood pressure. Yeah, yeah, that's what I've been told. Yeah. Hey, World Stroke Day is that annual calendar tap on the shoulder reminding you your brain's plumbing is not a myth. No, it can absolutely quit on you mid-sentence like a cheap lawnmower. Yeah, it's about spotting the warning signs fast, calling for help faster, and admitting that I'll walk it off is not a medical plan. (01:34) It's a eulogy draft, okay? Now, they'll tell you about prevention, blood pressure, cholesterol, quitting cigarettes, moving your body, blah, blah, blah, basic grown-up maintenance. You've been ignoring like a check engine light since 2017. So consider it a public service announcement with a deadline, your next bad decision. (01:53) Bobby, you know what I had for breakfast this morning? What's that? 20 milligrams of lucinaprol. There you go, gotta do it. It's the B Team Morning Show, brought to you by Stripes in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach on 100.3 KROCK. (02:08) Here's Steve Miller, there's Sticks and Lady on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 KROCK. It's the B Team Morning Show. Hope everybody's having a great Thursday, Friday, Eve so far. Gorgeous weather in store for the Emerald Coast, not only today, but the rest of the work week, and into the weekend, highs in the low 80s. (02:29) A lot happening this weekend. You've got a rematch on the Battle of the Bridge, Chalamar and Fort Walton, and a youth football playoff action Saturday afternoon at MEGS. You've also got the Hispanic Heritage Festival Saturday. (02:45) All sorts of Halloween events this weekend. The One Hopeful Place Chili Cook-Off on Sunday from 11 till two at Luce Tavern, just gonna be a great weekend. We've got all your weekend plans and details and events posted online at our website, thebteamshow.com, which brings us into the fact that, well, we've got a website, and it's also International Internet Day. (03:08) All right, yeah, celebrating the invention that gave everyone a microphone and somehow nobody a point. Ah, man, that was the perfect day for your Ask Uncle Bobby question yesterday. Yeah, I know, I know. International Internet Day is that special moment on the calendar where we all pretend the web is a noble invention instead of a 24-7 yard sale for opinions and dopamine. (03:29) You know, look, it tips its hat to the day the internet got switched on for the public, which is like celebrating the grand opening of a buffet that never closes and never replaces the sneeze guard. Yeah, look, we honor the miracle of instant connection, you know, cat videos, conspiracy uncles, long-lost classmates selling business opportunities, and, well, a comment section waiting to ruin your afternoon. (03:51) Yeah, light a candle for your router, say a quick prayer for your attention span, and remember, this holiday isn't about gratitude. It's about recognizing the cage and admiring the bars. International Internet Day. All right, it's the B Team morning show on 100.3K Rock. (04:11) We'll take a break and pay a couple bills, so look at your marine forecast is coming up next. You actually like this? Yeah, dude, it's classic rock. Well, there's more where that came from. 100.3K Rock. ZZ Toppin' Legs on the classic rock station, 100.3K Rock. (04:29) Don't forget Choctaw football on 94.3FTW, and then Friday you can catch the Niceville Eagles, Eagle football on 103.7, the ticket. Also this weekend, Florida State Seminoles at home against the Clemson Tigers, six o'clock kickoff from Doak Campbell on 94.3FTW, and for the Alabama Crimson Tide, they're on a bye week, the Florida Gators in a rivalry matchup with the Dawgs, UGA in Atlanta, and that'll be a 2.30 kickoff Saturday afternoon. (05:03) Play-by-play action on sister station, 103.7, the ticket. Well, today on the National Day calendar, Bobby, we celebrate, well, this used to be me, National Hermit Day. Yeah, the one holiday where ghosting your friends counts as community service, and the parade is just you not answering text. (05:23) Ouch. I feel like that's me these days. Yeah, it kind of has turned into you. National Hermit Day is that glorious little speed bump on the calendar where we stop pretending humans are social creatures, and it meant most of us are one group chat away from moving into a cave. (05:39) You know, it's a holiday for shutting the blinds like you're hiding from debt collectors, ignoring every notification like it's telemarketer with a pulse, and treating solitude like a paid vacation. You don't have to post about. No parades, no mandatory cheer. Just you, your snacks, and the sweet sound of nobody needing anything from you for once. (05:56) Yeah, consider it a public service announcement. Disappear on purpose today so you don't do it accidentally later. National Hermit Day, need you say more? Oh, man, it sounds like wonderful. Hey, don't miss out on a great night of fun at La Sala Event Center in Navarre. (06:14) It's the Rocky Horror Mystery Event. It's a time warp murder mystery experience Saturday night, and tickets for this event are $70 plus tax, but the evening includes dinner and a cash bar. Doors open at 6.30, showtime at seven. (06:32) If you'd like to learn more, you can visit the events tab at our website, thebteamshow.com. Here's Pat Benatar on the Classic Rock Station, and all their records. It's the B Team Morning Show on 100.3K Rock, the Classic Rock Station, Scattered Black, and Bobby Dewrell, and yes, Halloween means witches, ghosts, goblins, ghouls, Frankenstein, and black cats. (07:00) Yeah. And today, Bobby, is National Cat Day. Yeah, like one day a year isn't enough to celebrate an animal that freeloads, judges you, and still expects room service. I feel like there's some sort of cat-associated day like every week. That's why I'm saying, yeah, one day a year. (07:16) Yeah, sure. National Cat Day is that annual reminder that we built civilization, invented indoor plumbing, and still chose to dedicate a whole date on the calendar to an animal that treats us like a malfunctioning food dispenser. Yeah, it's a feel-good, fur-covered pageant where people post pictures by toys that'll get ignored in favor of a twist tie and pretend the cat picked them. (07:39) You know, like it's some holy calling instead of a lease agreement with claws. Look, sure, it's about appreciation, adoption, and doing something decent for creatures that can't file paperwork or open cans. So for once, we're the responsible species. For now, just know this, the cats don't care, the internet does, and your dignity is about to take a nap in a sunbeam and refuse to move. (08:02) National Cat Day. All right, yeah, like I said, there's a lot of those. Every day's a cat day, it seems like. We've got six-toed cat day, and extra claw cat day, and white-tip cat day, and yeah, everything you can think of to do with cats. (08:24) And the reason we keep talking about them is because why? I don't know. No, he picks them because he wants Taylor to feel like she's part of the show. Important, important, she needs to feel important. Is that your weekly charity right there? (08:39) That's what I do, I'm a giver. I gotta make the daughter happy. Well, we thank you, we thank you. Hey, it's the B Team Morning Show, brought to you by Stripes, Pup & Grill, and Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and Outkast Sushi, and Miramar Beach. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell, minutes away from seven o'clock, we'll take a break. (08:56) Dan Diamond has local news, coming up next. Three KROCK, it's E-L-O, and their big time number one hit about Hillary Clinton, Evil Woman. Yeah, there you go. 100.3 KROCK, the B Team Morning Show, on a Thursday, Schuyler Black, Bobby Dewrell. (09:14) 61 degrees is what the National Weather Service is saying it is right now at the airport. I don't know if 61 is quite right. I'd say more like 55, but you know what? God forbid I question the federal government. (09:31) Ha ha ha ha, right. Again, a high of 82 today. We're gonna stick in the low 80s the next few days. We do have about a 53% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon. So, we'll get that full forecast, give you an idea what to expect through the weekend, coming up here in just a little bit. (09:53) Now, Bobby, on the news front this morning, there's plenty to get to. First of all, congratulations. The Niceful Girls, they advanced to the state volleyball tournament. We'll get to that here in just a bit, some additional details on scores. Also, multi-state volunteers are aiding Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties after the hurricane. We'll talk about where some of those folks are coming from. Okaloosa County Administrator John Hofstad warns of major budget shortfalls if Amendment 3 passes. We'll talk about some of the numbers that he was thrown out the other night and what he gave Channel 3 in Pensacola as far as an outlook. (10:37) The Florida SBDC has opened mobile centers in Santa Rosa County for disaster recovery. If you are a small business, we're going to talk about how they can help you get back up and running following the storm. How are you doing this morning? (10:54) No shortage, man. I made it this far. Good. I made it this far. I'm glad you made it this far. I'm currently negotiating with my motivation and it's not going well. Really? Do you think we can get some mediation before we need to file suit? (11:10) I don't know. I don't know. We'll see. Troy plays tonight, huh? Yes. Yes, they do. So, watch party tonight up at Third Planet. Up in Niceville? That's right there. The Troy Alumni and Friends Association will be out there, so I'm looking forward to that. It should be some fun. (11:28) Who do the Trojans play tonight? The other team. Good. I'll have to look. I don't remember. I think it's Latek. I forget. I've got too many things running in my head. No, we're playing James Madison. (11:46) Oh, boy. Yeah. It'll be fun to watch how we screw that up. I'm going to see what is current JMU's record. They're 7-1 and 4-1 in conference right now. (12:03) That's going to be a toughie. James Madison. Well, considering we made it hard against La Monroe, that's the worst rated team in the Sun Belt right now. Or was. Yeah, JMU 7-1, Troy 3-4, and right now the Dukes are favored by 19-1. Never been a better day for an upset, Bobby. (12:28) Yeah, it's going to be brutal. BT Morning Show is on the air, brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. Schuyler Black, Bobby Dewrell, thank you for dialing in and spending this Friday Eve, Thursday morning with us. Seven minutes after 7 o'clock, here's Billy Idol. (12:46) Hard Rock only has it at 18-1. Oh, that's the one he goes for, Hard Rock. 100.3 KROCK, K-Classic Rock Station, Nazareth, hair of the dog. It's 7-22 on a Thursday morning. (13:02) Beautiful sunshine here in South Okaloosa County. You know, we have had umpteen days of beautiful weather now, and it's going to stay that way today, tomorrow, and Saturday. Higher chance of rain on Sunday, just over 50% Sunday, but Monday, Tuesday next week, again, gorgeous, and upper 70s for daytime highs. So, we've got some fantastic fall weather here right now in Northwest Florida. (13:30) Well, Florida's emergency support function for business and industry, the Florida SBDC has deployed mobile access centers directly into impacted communities following the recent hurricane, and these mobile on-the-scene workspaces will allow professional consultants to assist with business owners directly with disaster loan applications and post-disaster recovery challenges. You can stop by one of the temporary pop-up locations for in-person assistance. (14:00) If you are a small business owner and you need some assistance, maybe you suffered damage, maybe you suffered a loss of sales and revenue, there are loans out there that can help you get through and bridge the gap. Coming up on Monday and Tuesday, there are two locations in Santa Rosa County that will be open from 10 until 6, the Santa Rosa County Economic Development Office in Milton and the Jay City Hall. On Wednesday and Thursday from 10 to 6 next week, the Santa Rosa County Visitor Information Center in Navarre, 8543 Navarre Parkway. Those are the three locations where you can stop by and they'll help you with those applications. (14:43) Now, in addition to these special pop-up locations, the Florida SBDC at UWF continues to assist businesses through its regular service centers and outreach locations as well. Businesses can connect with a consultant for guidance on available resources and the next steps for recovery. Now, of course, we've got the UWF campus right here in Fort Walton Beach that houses our local SBDC office in Okaloosa County. That is out there off of MLK, I believe. (15:17) If you are a small business owner and needing a little help, there are loans out there from the state of Florida that can help bridge the gap, so we encourage you to apply. All right. We're about 20 minutes away from asking Uncle Bobby for advice this morning. (15:34) Of course, he's going to give us some details and picks on what he expects on the college football front this weekend because he lays his money on it. Yeah, it's true. Yeah, sure. Let's go with that. Hey, Friday, ladies, well, it's your day, especially if you're an ex-wife. Really? Yeah. (15:53) It's a doubleheader for you. You got to start up in Crestview at Main Street over at the Arts Learning Center, right? Over in Main Street, Crestview, where it's the Pink Witches Walk from 2 to 4 p.m. The Witches Walk. That's right. Wear your best pink witch attire and walk Main Street for breast cancer. Okay. It's a free tote and some other things there. And then when you get finished with that, well, you head on down. Just climb up on that broom and shoot on down to the Edge Seafood Restaurant and Sky Bar right there on Harbor Boulevard for the Witches Night Out. (16:28) That's right. Witches Night Out. Starts at $5.15. It's $10 to attend at the Destin Sky Bar. So, there you go. It's a doubleheader, you witches. Well, we played Evil Woman about 20 minutes ago. Now, I think coming up here in the next half hour, we're going to play Red Bones, Witch Queen of New Orleans. Why not Witchy Woman? We could do Witchy Woman. We could do Cliff Richard's Devil Woman. There you go. We could do Werewolves of London. That's right. (16:55) So, there you go, ladies. Doubleheader for you. Cool. Grab your brooms and head on out. Hey, it's cheaper on gas, too. That's right. Ride the broom. All right. Hey, look at your forecast is coming up next. Bad Company, Aerosmith, and more right after this on the B Team Morning Show with 100.3 KROCK. Music from Boston, rock and roll band on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 KROCK. I hope everybody's doing well on this gorgeous Thursday morning. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell. Folks, coming up this weekend, we've got the Hispanic Heritage Festival from noon till nine at The Landing downtown. Music, food, vendors, and all sorts of fun. Dancing, cultural opportunities, and more. So, looking forward to that event Saturday, noon to nine, free and open to the public at The Landing in downtown Fort Walton Beach. Well, Bobby, you mentioned last hour that today is National Cat Day. I did. And this is kind of scary. Cat owners may want to take a closer look about what's in their pet's food. (18:07) A new study has found that heavy metals exist in 99% of the cat food products tested. Wow. So, I didn't realize cats like Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden. Uh-huh. Okay, cool. Rock on. Yeah. They like Black Sabbath. Researchers analyzed 100 cat food products from 62 different brands looking for contaminants that can be harmful at high levels. (18:34) Lead was detected in 99% of the products, along with arsenic in 96% of the products. Fish-based foods had significantly higher mercury levels, while dry foods contained more lead. The report says cat owners should pay attention to more than just the main ingredient and explore different protein options and find out whether pet food companies routinely check their products for heavy metals. So, that's a little bit eye-opening there. Now, I'm curious about what dog food looks like. Yeah, no lie. All right. Hey, about seven minutes from now, the Do-Bob's here to offer his advice this morning. That's right. Ask Uncle Bobby in just a little bit. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell, the B Team Morning Show on KROCK. Redbone, the witch queen of New Orleans. On the B Team Morning Show, Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell, it's 100.3 KROCK, the Classic Rock Station. 748 is the time, and the music in the background tells us it's time for advice. Your daily advice, it's Ask Uncle Bobby, brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. Well, the Hard Rock Bet party is on, and new customers are on the list for up to $500 and no sweat bets. That's right. Sign up today and bet $5 to get up to $500 and no sweat bets. (19:57) Now, that's how you get the party started. At Hard Rock Bet, Florida's only legal sports book. Not a cash offer. It's offered by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. You must be 21 and over and physically present in Florida to wager. Terms and conditions apply. Concerned about your gambling? We'll call or text 1-833-PLAYWISE. (20:14) Okay, Uncle Bobby, your question today comes in from private and public. Dear Uncle Bobby, my company just rolled out a new culture initiative where we're supposed to bring our whole self to work. At Monday stand-up, everyone has to share a personal story, and then we have to post a photo in the team channel of what fuels us. Now, I like my co-workers, but I just want to do my job, get paid, and go home without turning my life into office content. (20:46) So, does that make me a bad employee? You know, listen to me. Let me be clear here, your whole self is not in the budget. The company is renting your skills. It's not buying the deed to your childhood, your hobbies, your heartbreaks, your grandmother's soup recipe, or whatever picture of a hiking trail you took in 2018 and now have to pretend it's sacred flame that powers your quarterly deliverables. Okay, look, bring your whole self to work. Yeah, that sounds sweet until you remember who's saying it. You know, this is the outfit that will call it a family in March and lay off accounting by email in April with two paragraphs and no eye contact. (21:28) So yeah, maybe a PDF about transition resources if the printer is working, okay? Look, your whole self can be boxed up by security before lunch. Look, don't mistake a compliment for a contract. When a company asks for more than it's paying for, it dresses up the request in soft shoes. You know, culture, belonging, authenticity, all the words they use when they want unpaid emotional overtime. Back when a punch clock was a punch clock, at least the machine had the decency to admit it was stealing your afternoon one minute at a time. Now, if some co-workers enjoy sharing, fine, fine, let them. If Linda wants to post her rescue dog and Kevin wants to tell a story about learning courage from a half marathon, well, God bless them both. People can like what they like. The problem starts when oversharing becomes a performance metric wearing a cardigan, okay? You're not a bad employee. A bad employee misses deadlines, lies about the spreadsheet, microwaves fish and says circling back like it means, like a man slowly poisoning a conference room, okay? Wanting a border between your paycheck and your private life is not rebellion. (22:46) It's maintenance. You know, it's like changing the oil before the engine starts making the expensive noise, okay? Bring a professional self. Bring a courteous self. Bring the self that answers emails, does the work, helps the new person find the shared drive, and does not make everyone else's Tuesday worse. That's plenty. That's the rental agreement. For the stand-up, give them the smallest true thing you can live with. My dad taught me to double check my work, okay? I like cooking because it rewards preparation. Coffee fuels me, all right? Then post a mug, a notebook, a lunch you actually ate, right? And keep it clean, boring, and technically responsive. The corporate machine hates boring because it cannot turn boring into a poster. Your real self belongs at home with the people who would still answer the phone if your job title disappeared tomorrow. (23:50) Don't throw away your soul for free. They already got you Monday through Friday. All right. There's your response, private in public. Uncle Bobby was emphatic today. Now, if you missed any past Ask Uncle Bobby episode, you can find it all online at our website, thebteamshow.com, or if you go to dewbob.com, d-e-w-bob.com, you can find all the past episodes in your exclusive Dew Bob merch. And just remember what I used to always say at the banks when they asked what motivates me. The answer was simple, money. Fair enough. (24:26) That paycheck that I get every Friday motivates the hell out of me showing up on Monday. It's 754. News is next. Classic rock station into the eight o'clock hours, Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell, the B Team morning shows on the air, brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub and Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (24:49) Halloween coming up this weekend. There's a ton of events that are going on across the area. There's a trunk or treat event happening out at the boardwalk on Saturday from five to eight. Of course, Brooks and Bay going to be shut down downtown on Saturday night for trick or treating from 530 until 830. Then on Saturday, you've also got this big event that sometimes perfection takes a few tries. That's true. We're going to call the third time a charm. Absolutely. (25:25) On the Hispanic Heritage Festival down at the landing this weekend. Bobby, you know, this has been scheduled three times and because of uncooperative weather earlier in the month, we decided we'd just save this festival for the last day of the month. Save the best for last. What's that song, Love Me Three Times? I think it was two times, but the Doors could come out with a second version of it. Whatever. Yeah. A remake. You know, you take a good tie-in and you just throw it out the window. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah, you were right. Love Me Three Times. (25:56) How did that taste? Actually, you're wrong, but I was trying to give you something to go with. I don't want to be wrong. No, the world might be wrong, but I'm always wrong. Oh, yeah. Have you ever met Google? Yes. Hey, I was here before. Who do you think Google learned from? He's Grandpa Google. That's right. All right. Well, Zulma with the Hispanic Heritage Festival being held at the landing Saturday afternoon from noon to nine is joining us. We chatted about a month ago when this thing was originally scheduled. So, yeah, what a wild month for you. (26:28) It has been very interesting, to say the least. Yeah, I would say. It kept you on your toes. Absolutely, which is a good thing for festivals. We need to be able to shift and adapt and I feel like we've built resistance. So, at the same time, we've also figured out ways to be creative with the constant changes. So, I think, like you said, third time's the charm and maybe they'll come up with a new version of that. We'll go with that and we're making it happen. Well, you know, with all the moving parts that a festival and an event like this has going for it and contacting all the vendors and participants, how much legwork goes into that? I was talking to my mom. Shout out to my mom. It's from her I get my resistance. And I told her, Mom, I feel like I've organized this event three times. And in reality, it's because of that. Yeah, yeah. And it's more than just a leg workout. It's everything. He's got to put the whole soul into it. It's a whole body workout. (27:29) It's not just legwork. Do you think that he was picking up on what I was putting down there? I feel like something got missed. A little bit. But you know what? He's not wrong. And I'll tell you why. Because any event, especially like this one that is so deeply rooted in community, I'm not doing this alone. And there are so many parts to this that it is like a body, right? You have a head for anything, a business, an organization, we can relate. Actually, I do coaching, leadership coaching. And that's one of the examples I use for those in higher management to treat their businesses like a body and then assess the health of it. So absolutely. I couldn't possibly do something like this alone. So those different parts come together. And we all have to adapt and shift and figure out how to make it work. But we have to be in the same page, just like our body needs to be. So what can attendees expect on Saturday? Because I know we talked about it a month ago. We've talked about it in the weeks since. But you're the one that put it together and organized the whole thing. So what would you like folks to know about Saturday's event? It is a full day of family-oriented activities. We kick off with a free Pilates class at the park with Desi from Flo-Tay. It's a great way to incorporate the wellness activation part of the festival because we have four pillars. We have a giving back aspect with meet your giving match. We have an art aspect and then we have a wellness and of course, the food. Yes. And the stage. So maybe I should say five, but that's just to show there is going to be so much going on simultaneously. We do kick it off with the class. By 12, the music will be rolling. The vendors will be set up. Meet your giving match activation will happen from 12 to 2. We're encouraging nonprofits, businesses, and volunteers who'd like to get to know nonprofits better, see how they can partner up with them in the future from 12 to 2. Right at 12 to 2, we have our America 250 segment honoring the brave. We have the honor guard coming out. (29:44) We have Kaylin Honeycutt singing the national anthem acapella and Raina Sang playing a few different songs, but including America the Beautiful. She's a classical pianist. So we're going to kick off with honoring the brave. Brave segment right at two, ends at three. (30:02) And then we have the official opening of the festival with the City of Fort Walton Proclamation coming in and a few recognitions that we will be doing. And then followed by our first live singing performance and our dance performances right after that. (30:19) Yeah, and I think everybody's gonna be in a fun, energized party mood Saturday with it also being Halloween. So you think there'll be people in costume out there too? I think so, I think so. I have focused on still keeping it a Hispanic Heritage celebration because we've been rescheduled. (30:38) And even though we're out of the month of Hispanic Heritage recognition, it was something that we still wanted to hold because one, it was planned, and two, a huge part or a huge message from this specific event is that Hispanic Heritage is something that goes beyond one month. (30:58) And we love to share how we incorporate that into our local community every single day. It sounds like a fun event. Now, you've put stuff like this together before, correct? This is Creative Life Media is the presenting, which is my business, the presenting company along with my partners. (31:21) I've been in private practice for a really long time. So it is the first, this public event for myself. So I'm very excited. What are you most excited about? If folks have been to an event similar to this in the past, what's something different that this event will have that they haven't seen before? (31:38) I don't know if necessarily is something they haven't seen before as far as the activities that go on, the music, the live music, the performances, the food. We will have the art activation area. (31:54) And one of the things that I really wanted to highlight in this specific event is bringing back the cultural aspect so that we can share that with our community. And also our Hispanic community can come out and enjoy something that we do every day, but in a very celebratory way. (32:13) I think that the only difference would be just that spirit, right? That spirit of unification, of camaraderie, enjoying it through healing aspects like music, dance. So I don't think necessarily any different than maybe other festivals do, but definitely an enjoyable day for everyone to come out and spend it with their families, get to try new things maybe, or get to enjoy things they've tried before. (32:40) We've got all the details on our website at thebteamshow.com. Just click on the events tab. But an all-day festival down at the Landing, free and open to the public on Saturday. It's gonna be tons of vendors, tons of entertainment, great food. (32:58) Looking forward to that. Bobby's looking forward to horchata. Oh, yeah. We're definitely having that. We for sure have Mexican, Peruvian, Colombian, Cuban, few more things. Very cool. Rock on. I'm looking forward to it. I really am. (33:14) Absolutely. Well, Zulma, it's always good to see you. We appreciate you coming in this morning and refreshing us up on what folks can expect this coming Saturday. And we wish you the best with this event. Thank you. You guys have been amazing, special. (33:30) Thank you to my media partners. For example, you guys, and for working through the continuous changes. It's getting it out there, yeah. Absolutely. Well, you know, man plans and God laughs. Absolutely. Right. We just roll with the punches. (33:46) We do. Like I said, it's strengthening. So if there's anything that will be proof of, oh, and I do want to mention this. I did add hurricane relief. So we will have a hurricane relief station. So come on out. (34:01) And if there's anything needed, we'll be there. Very cool. Cool. All right. And you missed an opportunity to go in to roll with the changes. Yeah. Well, we played that yesterday at this time. So. You guys are the experts. I'll leave that to you. (34:18) Don't miss it Saturday at the landing. It's the BT morning show on 100.3 grid. 0.3 KROCK, the classic rock station. Scatter black in Bobby Dewrell. It's Thursday morning. (35:36) Yeah, yeah. Better than a thousand over through the end of the year. The default view that you look at shows you the next 15 days out and I think there's like 16 different organizations and some 290 plus events going on. (35:51) Wow. So, yeah. Hey, shout out to the Milwaukee Brewers. They won their first World Series title in franchise history after beating the Tampa Bay Rays last night in game five by the score of four to one. And to quote Wisconsinians, about damn time. (36:08) Is that what they said? Well, first time ever, I guess it is about damn time. Starting pitcher Jacob Mizoroski got the win after pitching five and two thirds and giving up no runs. Rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt had two hits and drove in two runs as well. (36:23) Brewers catcher William Contreras was named the Willie Mays World Series MVP in five games. He had eight hits and four RBIs with a batting average of 381. So, yeah. Lots of drinking happened in Wisconsin last night. (36:39) No doubt about that. Here's the Steve Miller Band on 100.3 KROCK. Woo! Three KROCK, it's the B Team morning show. 847 is the time. (36:55) Beautiful sunshine here in Destin Fort Walton Beach and God bless you. All right, thank you. 61 degrees sunshine right now. A high today up to about 83 this afternoon. Now, in today's Ask Uncle Bobby, we talked about dealing with problems at work. (37:14) Talking about people that microwave fish. Have you dealt with that before? Yeah. Was it pleasant? No, as a matter of fact, the response was you do that again, you are fired. So, here's a story out of South Carolina, okay. (37:30) A South Carolina detective pointed a gun at another officer for using their department's microwave to heat up fish. He said, he will avoid jail time for it. Yeah, he should. The only person that should be facing jail time is the one that heated up fish in the microwave. (37:46) So, the two men got into an argument because the fish made the break room smell horrible. It made the whole damn precinct smell horrible, I'm sure. And they continued to argue until he pulled his service weapon on a fellow officer. Now, he was originally arrested and charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, but the man agreed to a lesser charge and was sentenced to 90 days of probation and must surrender his South Dakota police certification. (38:12) No, South Carolina police certification. So, anyway. Well, there you go. Yeah, don't microwave fish. Your co-workers don't appreciate it. Don't microwave fish if your co-workers have a gun. Right, exactly. (38:29) You're just asking for trouble at that point. Let me tell you right now, if I was on that jury, he would never be convicted, ever. Did you? I said, if I was on the jury, he would never be convicted. Oh. Bobby's in your corner, buddy. (38:45) Absolute justifiable. Bobby's in your corner. It is the definition of justifiable. I did hear from Clinton Jacks here a little while ago. Clinton used to work at the radio station. Now, he's teaching at, with the Okaloosa County School District these days. And he said, we forgot to mention that tomorrow night, 6 p.m., is the Okaloosa County Middle School Championship football game. (39:07) Ah, there you go. That's on the community calendar, and we neglected to say something. Yeah. So, good luck, kiddos.
