Soup Wars & Super Bowl: How a Small‑Town Fundraiser Turned into the Year’s Biggest Viral Sensation

Description

“It’s the social equivalent of slapping a sticky‑note on a sinking ship that says, ‘You’re doing great’—except this time the note is a bowl of soup, the ship is a bank, and the crew is voting with cash for a cause that’s as fluffy as the puppies at PAWS.

Show Notes

This episode kicks off with Schuylar Black flying solo (Bobby’s out on a “breakfast‑with‑friends” mystery) as she guides us through a jam‑packed Friday. We’ll hear her riff on today’s quirky holidays – Pay‑a‑Compliment Day, Ronald Reagan Day, and the ever‑sarcastic Lame Duck Day – before diving into the community pulse.

What’s on the agenda?

  • Super Bowl Soup Cook‑Off Fundraiser for PAWS – a tasty showdown at Mid‑South Bank from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., where ten local chefs serve up soups you can vote for with cash, all to benefit the local shelter’s furry friends.
  • Mardi Gras Parade Preview – the 40th‑anniversary Jesters parade on Navarre Beach at 1 p.m. and St. Andrews’ procession in Panama City at 2 p.m., with full listings waiting on the B‑Team’s events page.
  • Weather & Weekend Outlook – a chilly 33° start, warming to the mid‑60s by afternoon, promising sunshine for weekend festivities.
  • Local Buzz – from a golden‑nest pancake café’s anti‑marijuana scent policy, a Florida man’s dine‑and‑dash turned felony, a Connecticut child’s mistaken jury summons, to the latest developments in the Savannah Guthrie missing‑mother case.
  • National Day Calendar Highlights – a tongue‑in‑cheek salute to Ronald Reagan’s “ketchup‑as‑a‑vegetable” legacy, followed by a sardonic look at Lame Duck Day’s celebration of political “leftovers.”

All of this is threaded together with classic rock hits, shout‑outs to our loyal sponsors – Stripes Pub & Grill, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi – and Skylar’s signature humor about solo‑hosting woes.

Stay tuned, grab a coffee (or a soup spoon), and get the lowdown on the stories, events, and weather that are shaping the Emerald Coast this Friday. Let’s roll!

(00:00) Here's today's B-Team Redux. Journey in open arms on a Friday morning. How you doing, everybody? I'm Skylar Black on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 K-Rock. (00:12) Bobby is off today. It's the B-Team Morning Show. And I want to thank our sponsors that continually sponsor the show and bring the content to you every morning, including Stripes Pub and Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. By the way, get out to Stripes in Navarre. (00:30) They are the place to go to register to see a great show. That's right. They've got tickets to see Foghat in Styx in Biloxi in April. And for a chance at winning those tickets, you've got to stop by Stripes Pub and Grill in Navarre and register. (00:48) That's going on now out at Stripes. Well, today, Friday, February 6th, is Pay a Compliment Day. Because nothing says sincerity like a mandated compliment from someone who still thinks you clean up nice counts as flirting. Pay a Compliment Day is that once a year panic attack where folks remember other humans have feelings and try to weaponize kindness without pulling a hamstring. (01:13) Now, it's the social equivalent of putting a sticky note on a sinking ship that says, you're doing great. For 24 hours, passive aggression gets Botox, and everyone pretends sincerity isn't just sarcasm in a church dress. And by the time it's over, we all need a drink and a nap from pretending that we like each other that much. It's Pay a Compliment Day. (01:36) Come on, folks, it's Friday. Let's all get along and get into the weekend. Big fundraiser today at Mid-South Bank. It is the Super Bowl soup cook-off for PAWS. (01:47) Talk about that here in just a little bit, plus Mardi Gras parades tomorrow. Gonna be a busy one. Yeah. Just that time of year, I guess. (01:58) Here's ZZ Top on the Classic Rock Station 100.3 KROQ. Black Sabbath and War Pigs on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 K-Rock, and online at krockfwb.com. It's the B-Team Morning Show. Skyther Black is my name. (02:17) Bobby Durell is off today. And if you missed any of the B-Team Show from earlier in this week, we've got everything archived for you online at thebteamshow.com. From the local news and local events to the wacky news, Ask Uncle Bobby features, National holidays and more plus you can listen to the previous shows in their entirety online at the B team show.com So if you've not checked out our website, we encourage you to do so. Our website is powered by Frank Bennett with Lone Depot Well today on the National Day calendar. (02:50) It's Ronald Reagan day or when we honor the actor who trickled down on all of us and called it morning in America. Ronald Reagan Day is the annual celebration of a man who made trickle-down economics sound like a bedtime story and somehow convinced America that ketchup was a vegetable. It's a state holiday in California because, of course it is, we're better to honor a cowboy actor who turned politics into performance. Schools and government offices close, presumably to give folks time to reflect on deregulation and jellybeans. (03:23) So it's not so much of a holiday as it is a polite shrug in the direction of nostalgia and selective memory. Ronald Reagan Day is today, Friday, February 6th. I'm Skyler Black. It's the BT Morning Show. (03:34) We're going to take a break. Dan Diamond has a look at local news coming up in just a little bit. But first, a look at your marine forecast is next on 100.3 KROQ. There's more here than meets the ear. (03:46) 100.3 KROQ. 100.3 KROQ, the Classic Rock Station. Good morning, everybody. It's Friday. (03:55) We've got much warmer weather in the forecast today than we saw yesterday, thankfully. A lot of local stuff coming up. BTMorning Show's on the air. Skyler Black's my name. (04:05) Bobby Durell is not here. But I do have somebody sitting across the counter from me right now. One of my favorite people, actually. Lynn Fair from Mid-South Bank here in Fort Walton Beach. (04:16) And Lynn, happy Friday to you. Happy Friday to you, too. Today is, well, The real deal, the Super Bowl. That is correct. (04:28) Not to be confused with the Super Bowl, but the Super Bowl. Right, like the big ladle in a bowl and crackers and cheese and everything that you toss into a soup. That is correct. That type of Super Bowl. (04:43) Yes, not the other. Right, exactly. Don't worry about it. And this is a fundraiser today at Mid-South Bank from 11 to 2 to benefit our furry four-legged friends at PAWS. (04:57) That is correct. So we are going to have ten contestants coming and vying for who made the best soup and who raised the most money for PAWS. We're also going to have some puppies, some cats, some kittens, some dogs. So you can come pay five dollars to judge our soup or bring a whole bunch of gifts for PAWS and Leave with a fluffy furry friend. (05:25) All right. That's what Lynn wants you to do. Now I understand not everybody's going to leave there with a fluffy furry four-legged friend. But stop on out for the soup. (05:38) Bring your cash because that's how you're voting for your favorite soup. That is correct. You know, and it's five dollars minimum, but we'll take more. So you just come and have some good food, a lot of fun, and we're going to have the cats and the dogs. (05:56) It'll be still colder a little bit today, so out of the chill. And we're going to just have a lot of fun today and crown the best soup maker in the city. There you go. So stop on out today 11 to 2 at Mid-South Bank for the Super Bowl. (06:14) Now I understand you've got 10 different chefs that are signed up today. Yes we do and we have several of them. are from restaurants. Really? (06:23) Yeah, so you guys gotta come on out and see who's the best. You taste them all, vote for your favorite with cash, and you know what you could do is like you could vote for all of them, but the ones you didn't really like maybe five bucks and the ones you did like like ten and the ones you really love like a hundred. Well that's true. (06:47) Yeah, if you want to vote, you know, like however you like it. I mean, hey, we take cash in any way. You know, we're doing great things at PAWS. Also, I'll let you know that we are gonna have Seafoam Roasting Company. (07:06) It's gonna have some coffee there. We have Brody, who is a long-term resident, who's made his own roast, and Cinder, who is a little cat that walks around with a wheelchair. And so, We have coffee for sale, too. Cool. (07:22) And it benefits our friends at Paws. Super, super cool. So we hope you can join us out there today from 11 to 2. I'll be out there. (07:32) I'm going to see if I can twist Taylor's arm, see if she'll come out and see the puppies and kitties, too. Well, maybe you could take one home. Lynn, I've got four. How many you got now? (07:42) I have four. Okay, so I don't want to hear a thing. All right, all right. You take one, I take one. (07:51) Ooh, I might have to move somewhere else if I took one. Mr. Fair would not be very happy. No, he would not. Come on out and join us today at Mid-South Bank. (08:01) Lynn, as always, thanks for coming in to chat with us. Well, thank you for having me. Yep. Super Bowl Soup Cook-Off fundraiser for PAWS happening today at Mid-South Bank. (08:09) We've got more details for you online right now on the events tab at krockfwb.com. It's a BT Morning Show on 100.3 KROCK. Black Sabbath and War Pigs on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 K-Rock, and online at krockfwb.com. It's the B-Team Morning Show. (08:31) Skylar Black is my name. Bobby Durell is off today. And if you missed any of the B-Team Show from earlier in this week, we've got everything archived for you online at thebteamshow.com. From the local news and local events to the wacky news, Ask Uncle Bobby features, national holidays and more. (08:49) Plus, you can listen to the previous shows in their entirety online at thebteamshow.com. So if you've not checked out our website, we encourage you to do so. Our website is powered by Frank Bennett with Loan Depot. Well, today on the National Day Calendar, it's Ronald Reagan Day, where we honor the actor who trickled down on all of us and called it morning in America. (09:13) Ronald Reagan Day is the annual celebration of a man who made trickle-down economics sound like a bedtime story and somehow convinced America that ketchup was a vegetable. It's a state holiday in California because, of course it is, we're better to honor a cowboy actor who turned politics into performance. Schools and government offices close, presumably to give folks time to reflect on deregulation and jellybeans. So it's not so much of a holiday as it is a polite shrug in the direction of nostalgia and selective memory. (09:43) Ronald Reagan Day is today, Friday, February 6th. I'm Skyler Black. It's the BT Morning Show. We're going to take a break. (09:50) Dan Diamond has a look at local news coming up in just a little bit. But first, a look at your marine forecast is next on 100.3 KROQ. There's more here than meets the ear. 100.3 KROQ. (10:04) Animal. Def Leppard on the Classic Rock Station. 100.3 KROQ. It's the B-Team Morning Show. (10:10) I'm Skyler Black. Bobby is off today doing some sort of breakfast with friends, I guess. And I didn't get the invite, so here I am. That's okay, though. (10:21) That's all right. Sometimes, sometimes they just save the best for last, and that's why I was not invited, I guess. Looking at the National Day calendar today, the last one to reveal, it's Lame Duck Day. Yup, Lame Duck Day, finally a holiday for politicians, middle managers, and that guy who still thinks his garage ban's gonna make it. (10:42) Lame Duck Day, a celebration of clinging to power long after you've run out of ideas, supporters, or clean underwear. It's the one glorious date on the calendar where we pause to celebrate political leftovers, corporate seat fillers, and anyone else coasting towards irrelevance with a pension and a pulse. It honors the fine art of doing absolutely nothing while pretending it matters. A skill that most folks refine just before retirement or right after getting caught lying on their resume. (11:12) Think of it as a victory laugh for the professionally useless Light a candle, lower your standards, and salute the majestic swan dive into mediocrity. It's Lame Duck Day. And that's what I've got for you on the National Holiday Calendar. Now, tomorrow, a bunch of Mardi Gras parades happening. (11:31) across our area on Saturday afternoon, one o'clock. Crew of Jesters on their parade, their 40th annual parade down Navarre Beach. And then the crew of St. Andrews doing their parade in Panama City tomorrow afternoon. (11:46) That starts at two o'clock. We've got the parades for this weekend and for next weekend listed for you online. Just click on the events tab at TheBTeamShow.com. We're minutes away from 7 o'clock. (11:58) Dan Diamond has a look at local news coming up next right here on 100.3 KROQ. 100.3, KROQ, it's Steve Miller and rocking me. On a Friday morning, the BT Morning Show is on the air. I'm Skyler Black. (12:21) Bobby is off today. Right now outside, 33 degrees and fair skies. You may need to use the defroster on your vehicle if it sat out overnight, just at least briefly for a couple of minutes. uh... (12:35) but uh... this afternoon looks gorgeous folks sunshine a high of sixty six sixty three tomorrow sixty three sunday and seventy by monday so whatever plans you've got this weekend because uh... it looks quite nice The B-Team Morning Show is brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub and Grill in Navarre, which most certainly will have that big game on the big screen for you Sunday evening between the Seahawks and the Patriots. Also brought to you by Okaloosa Gas. (13:07) As well as our friends at OutKast Sushi out in Miramar Beach. They're out on Highway 98 across from Silver Sands out in Miramar. So stop on out and check them out if you have not done so yet. An emotional press briefing in the search for Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy, took a sharp turn yesterday when the sheriff publicly called out reporter Ashley Banfield. (13:32) During the update, an Arizona sheriff ripped into a journalist who raised claims about Nancy's brother-in-law possibly being involved. The sheriff pushed back forcefully saying there's no evidence tying any family member to her disappearance and criticizing the suggestion as irresponsible and harmful to the investigation. He stressed that detectives are following leads based on facts, not speculation, and warned that floating unverified theories could damage both the case and the family. Authorities say the search remains active with multiple agencies involved as they continue working to locate Nancy safely. (14:08) And of course, this has been the story that's dominated the news here over the last four or five days now. uh... the uh... the family of today show host uh... (14:20) co-host savannah guthrie is making a yet another emotional public plea as the search continues for her missing mother uh... this time with uh... her brother directly speaking to whoever may be responsible if you remember on wednesday savannah reached out in a video In a newly released video, Cameron, her brother, addressed the suspected kidnappers, urging them to make contact with the family. He said they're desperate to communicate and are asking for proof that their mother is alive. (14:49) Authorities believe the 84-year-old was abducted from her Arizona home and the investigation remains active with federal involvement. For now, the family's focus is simple. That's establishing contact. bringing their mother back alive. (15:03) This is just the craziest story so something will continue to follow into the weekend but that's kind of the latest on that. Also Harvey Levine of TMZ says a ransom note that was obtained by TMZ claims that Nancy is safe but scared. The ransom note also sets a hard deadline, cuts off negotiations, and may point to someone operating near Tucson. So that is a ransom note that TMZ obtained as of last night. (15:38) Again, just all sorts of different angles coming out on this story from different folks involved. But yeah, hope and pray for Nancy's safe return. We'll keep our eye on this story. Plus, there's a lot to get to this morning. (15:53) Big fundraiser for PAWS, the Super Bowl soup kickoff and cookoff going on at Mid-South Bank here today from 11 to 2. More on that in just a bit. Right now, John Fogerty. on 100.3 KROQ. (16:12) Danger, Danger, Naughty, Naughty on the Classic Rock Station. 100.3k Rock, it's Friday morning. How you doing everybody? Beautiful sunshine outside. (16:21) Temps in the 30s though. A little chilly this morning. We'll see things warm up this afternoon. A high of 66 later on today. (16:30) Looks like it's going to be gorgeous. Beautiful weekend. All weekend long. That full forecast coming up here in just a little bit. (16:38) Speaking of getting naughty, naughty. uh... tomorrow is uh... week out from valentine's day and uh... (16:46) valentine's day this year is projected to break spending records with over twenty nine billion dollars expected to be spent according to the uh... national retail federation On average, shoppers plan to spend about $200 on gifts. However, it's also a holiday marked by procrastination, as more than a quarter of shoppers tend to wait until the final days to purchase gifts for their Valentine. So, you got eight days. (17:17) You can be on the early, early end of this if you just, you know, start shopping today instead of like next Friday. You would be a week ahead of the cusp, you know. Just trying to put that out there. Get ahead of the curve, folks. (17:31) Get ahead of the curve. Hey, speaking of something going on today, also, we have something at Mid-South Bank, and that is the first ever Super Bowl soup cook-off and fundraiser for PAWS. Yeah, this is a really cool event. Lynn Fair over at Mid-South Bank put together this event. (17:51) There's going to be 10 different local chefs from area restaurants that are bringing their soups for you to sample, and you'll vote for your favorite. But you'll vote for your favorite with cash, and whichever soup raises the most money, well, that chef will be crowned champion and get the bragging rights. But all of the money raised today from 11 to 2 at Mid-South Bank will benefit our furry, four-legged friends at PAWS. So if you can get out there today from 11 to 2, Mid-South Bank, corner of Beale and Carmel, right here in Fort Walton, get out there and Yeah, help out in the cause for pause today with the Super Bowl soup kick, uh, cook off. (18:30) I keep wanting to say kickoff because I've got football on the mind, but now we've got two more days till the football game. You know, most people miss Monday after, uh, after the Super Bowl more than any other day as far as sick days are used. And, uh, yeah, when you have a morning show, you don't really get that option. So I guess I'll be here on, uh, on, uh, Monday, the eighth. (18:52) Oh, well. Alright, we're going to take a quick break and pay a couple bills. This is the B-Team Morning Show. I'm Skyler Black. (18:58) Bobby Durell is off today. He'll be back with me on Monday morning. He also can't play hooky on Monday. The B-Team Show is sponsored by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (19:13) Pink Floyd and Cream coming up next on 100.3 KROQ. There's cream and white room on the B-Team Morning Show with 100.3 K-Rock. Skyler Black along for the ride on the show this morning solo because, well, Bobby's not here and I couldn't get any of my benchwarmers to come in today. Apparently, Tom Mason said he had an appointment at 8 this morning and then Jim McPherson said, I have to work this morning and then Steve Dudley said, I have to work this morning and then Bear Teusch said, oh dude, I've got an appointment tomorrow morning also. (19:49) So, nobody wanted to come do the show with me this morning, and I'm starting to see a correlation here. Y'all show up when Bobby's here, but when Skylar's here by himself, nah, not interested. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. (20:04) Yeah, I ain't that stupid. It's the BT Morning Show, appreciate you all dialing in and spending it with us. 33 degrees, you'll need a jacket this morning, but a high today of 66, so it's gonna get nice this afternoon, and the weekend looks great. Like, we've got several Mardi Gras parades tomorrow. (20:22) Crew of St. Andrew's doing theirs in Panama City tomorrow afternoon at 2. Crew of Jester's doing theirs on Navarre Beach tomorrow afternoon at 1. There's a lot going on, folks, and the weather looks great for the weekend. (20:34) You can actually find a full listing of some of the area Mardi Gras parades by visiting the events tab at our website, thebteamshow.com. Well, a Wisconsin diner has sparked controversy after putting its foot down over marijuana use. The Golden Nest Pancake Cafe posted a message telling customers that they are banned from coming in if they smell like weed. saying the odor was bothering staff and other diners trying to enjoy their food. (21:05) The restaurant said the policy isn't about judging customers, it's about maintaining a family-friendly environment and keeping the dining experience pleasant for everyone. Reaction online has been split. Some support the cafe's right to set house rules, while others argue the policy unfairly targets legal users. But for now, the diner is standing by its policy. (21:29) Yeah, if you ever travel up to Wisconsin and you see the Golden Nest Pancake Cafe, just make sure you don't smell like ditchweed before you walk in. We'll check local news with Dan Diamond here in just a little bit. It's a TGI Friday. This is 100.3 KROQ with Van Halen. (21:52) All along the watchtower on 100.3 KROQ, it's the B-Team Morning Show. You know, I feel like today is the day that should be like Monday, because nobody's going to show up to work on Monday after the Super Bowl, but today is actually Lame Duck Day on the National Day calendar. And maybe that's why I couldn't get any sidekicks to come in and do the morning show with me today. Maybe they realized it was Lame Duck Day and they decided that, yeah, they were going to they were going to participate in lame duck day. (22:25) Day finally meant for really politicians, middle managers, and the guy who still thinks his garage band's going to make it. It's a celebration of clinging to power long after you've run out of ideas, supporters, or clean Underwear. Lame day, it's that one glorious date on the calendar where we pause to celebrate political leftovers, corporate seat fillers, and anyone else coasting towards irrelevance with a pension and a pulse. It honors the fine art of doing absolutely nothing while pretending it matters. (22:57) That's a skill most folks refine just before retirement or right after getting caught lying on their resume. So think of it as a victory lap for the professionally useless. Light a candle, lower your standards, and salute the majestic swan. Dive into mediocrity. (23:14) So those of you guys that I reached out to and said, come to the show with me today, enjoy Lame Duck Day. That's all I got to say. Last night, President Trump announced that they have launched a new government website, TrumpRx, to help patients access discounted prescription drugs directly from pharmaceutical companies or through pharmacy coupons. Now, the platform that was introduced yesterday is primarily aimed at people who are uninsured underinsured, or willing to pay cash instead of using insurance. (23:52) Trump stated that millions of Americans would benefit from the initiative, calling it so good for overall health care. The site offers significantly lower prices than standard rates. With drugs like Ozempic, Wigovi, and Lilizepam starting in prices well below their typical list prices, which could exceed over $1,000 a month, the administration says at least 16 drug makers have agreed to offer reduced prices, including discounts for Medicaid drugs, under Trump's most favored-nation pricing strategy. There you go. (24:28) Those of you that would like to get on one of those drugs, but A, insurance isn't going to cover it, or you don't have the extra grand a month, now you can get that for about a fifth of the cost. So it could be a big change for a lot of people out there. All right, 7.53 is the time. Local news is next. (24:51) Bear the dog. That's probably what I'll need tomorrow morning. Nazareth on K-Rock. Good morning, everybody. (24:59) It's Friday. Beautiful sunshine right now. A little deceiving, temps-wise. We're coming up, though. (25:06) Forty-three degrees right now. Sixty-six this afternoon. It's going to be really, really nice to start the weekend, and all weekend long looks beautiful. Sunshine in the sixties, so whatever you've got planned, whether it's Mardi Gras parades tomorrow or Super Bowl parties on Sunday, Yeah, it's just going to be a beautiful weekend. (25:27) Don't forget the parades tomorrow, Navarre Beach and Panama City. And then next weekend, they're all over in the Pensacola area. And we've got a full listing of the area parades on our events tab. Just go to krockfwb.com. (25:42) It's the B-Team Morning Show. I'm Scott, their black flying solo today. Bobby Durrell is off. He'll be back with me on Monday morning. (25:49) I want to thank our sponsors, including Stripes Pub and Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi. in Miramar Beach. And speaking of Super Bowl parties, if you're planning a Super Bowl party this year, there's a mix of good and bad news for your snack budget. A new report reveals that chicken wings, the popular game day treats, are actually cheaper than last year due to the improved supply and lower wholesale prices because, you know, we were dealing with the bird flu last year. (26:23) However, the prices of other party staples like chips, dips, and veggie trays have risen, driven by grocery inflation and higher production costs. Even beer and soda are seeing modest price increases in some areas. So, as you put together your shopping list, just keep those in mind. I'm sure it won't hold anybody back from celebrating a Super Bowl party, though. (26:47) Um, out of Connecticut, this is kind of a funny story. A Connecticut family got quite the surprise when a jury summons showed up in the mail, not addressed to the parents, but to their four year old daughter. The, uh, preschool or Zara had been called to report for jury duty in Stanford. Her dad says when they tried explaining civic duty, she looked back and said, I'm only a baby. (27:12) Officials say it was simply a paperwork mix-up. Her name likely pulled from a state database that doesn't include birthdates. But, you know, isn't Stanford, isn't that where, like, they filmed the Mari Povich show and other of those family drama shows? Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos. (27:31) I mean, weird things happen in Stanford, Connecticut, so maybe it's not all that surprising. All right, we'll check your forecast for the weekend coming up in just about 10 minutes. Music on the way from Tom Petty and Paul McCartney as well at his wings. In the meantime, Don Henley on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 K-Rock. (27:55) Paul McCartney and his wings jet on the classic rock station, 100.3 K-Rock. It's the B-Team Morning Show. Skylar Black flying solo on a Friday. That's okay. (28:09) That's alright. It's Lame Duck Day, so roll call for all the has-beens and no-shows that I tried to recruit to come in and join me this morning, because Bobby was a no-show, and then I tried to get I tried to get Tom Mason. I tried to get McPherson. Then I tried to get Steve Dudley and Bear Teusch. (28:27) You know what? After going 0 for 4 on benchwarmers, I said, the hell with it. I'll just fly solo like I used to. So that's where we are today, folks. (28:37) That's where we are. The B-Team Show brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. By the way, out at Stripes in Navarre, you can stop on out and register for some concert tickets. Sticks and Foghat coming to Biloxi in April. (28:54) And yeah, we've got tickets to give away. Get out to Stripes and register for those tickets today. Also going on today is the Super Bowl Soup Cook-Off fundraiser for PAWS. Happens over at Mid-South Bank from 11 to 2. (29:10) We hope you can stop on over and join us and help us Raise money for The Cause and our furry four-legged friends. There's going to be 10 different local chefs from restaurants that are going to be sampling out their soups. You'll vote for your favorite with cash, so bring cash with you. If not, it's at a bank. (29:28) You know, they've got cash, too, in an ATM. Should be a lot of fun. Obviously the chef that raises the most money from his soup will be voted as the champion, because it's the favorite. But secondly, all the proceeds from all the soups benefit PAWS. (29:44) So it's a really cool idea. Shout out to Lynn Fair over at Mid-South Bank for putting it together. And we'll be out there today from 11 till 2. Well, it wouldn't be a BT Morning Show without talking about a Florida man's story, and we've got one for you today. (30:00) A Florida man racked up a $64 food and drink tab, then walked without paying. A little dine and dash, if you will. Well, he wasn't the brightest guy. He returned to the bar the next day to retrieve a phone charger that he had forgotten. (30:15) and that's when staff called the authorities. He was taken into custody and now faces charges tied to skipping out on the bill and turning a small tab into a criminal case.
