**Primary Day Chaos: How Fire Hydrants, Bear KFC Heists & Serendipity Became Fort Walton's Biggest Problems**
Description
We tackled serendipity (a.k.a. Schuyler's entire career plan), fajitas arriving like dinner theater with shrapnel, and why stubbornness gets a holiday while quitting gets a lecture—plus Uncle Bobby turned weeknight meals into psychological warfare involving timers, Rube Goldberg contraptions, and napkin origami death matches.
Show Notes
Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell kicked off Tuesday morning on 100.3 KROCK — Fort Walton Beach's classic rock station — with a civic reminder that felt more like a threat: it's primary election day in Florida, so get your ass to the polls and fill out those bubbles like your voice matters (it doesn't, but humor us). School board, state reps, senators, governor — the whole democratic circus is in town, and we're all expected to participate like good little constituents.
The National Day calendar served up Serendipity Day, which Bobby described as "Schuyler's Life Plan" — a holiday celebrating dumb luck and happy accidents, because apparently the universe is a kindly bartender and not a raccoon in the attic. We also honored National Fajita Day, that sacred moment where grown adults pay extra for their dinner to arrive screaming on a cast iron plate, complete with theatrical smoke and the very real risk of pepper grease shrapnel. National Bad Poetry Day got a nod for letting clunky metaphors roam free, and Never Give Up Day reminded us that stubbornness is now a personality trait. Weather-wise? Extreme heat warning until 8 p.m., heat index climbing to 115 — drink fluids, stay indoors, and for the love of God, check on your elderly neighbors and four-legged friends.
Local news delivered the grim stuff: a 42-year-old Fort Walton man charged with second-degree murder after a fatal stabbing on Lovejoy Road, and a proposed boardwalk and welcome center on Navarre Beach that's out for bid despite locals screaming "nobody wants it." Classic NIMBY behavior — hate taxes, reject revenue alternatives, complain louder. We also covered the Coastal Weddings Expo happening Sunday at the Destin Fort Walton Beach Convention Center from 1 to 4 p.m., featuring dozens of vendors, a runway show (not the airplane kind, Schuyler), and enough giveaways to make your wedding planning slightly less miserable. Miss Lauren from Coastal Weddings Magazine joined us in-studio to talk about turning six months of wedding planning into one exhausting afternoon — tickets available at coastalweddingsmagazine.com, and yes, Bobby suggested divorce attorneys should sponsor these things.
Uncle Bobby dispensed culinary chaos for "Ask Uncle Bobby," advising a listener to turn weeknight dinners into theatrical auditions involving covered dishes, dramatic timers, and Rube Goldberg contraptions — because simple dinners are how families forget each other. We wrapped with a bear story from Kentucky (leftover KFC theft), a reminder that Coffee with a Firefighter is tomorrow at Beach Weekend Coffee, and a scheduling snafu involving the CRA Citizens Input meeting. Big thanks to our sponsors — Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach — for keeping this irreverent disaster afloat. Now go vote, stay hydrated, and remember: classic rock never settles for the ordinary.

(00:00) Here's today's B Team Redux. We'll rock you on the classic rock station, 100.3 KROCK. It's the B Team Morning Show, Tuesday, August 18th, and that means it's primary election day here in the state of Florida. So, get out there, get to the polls today. You've got school board candidates to vote for, you've got state reps, you've got senators, you've got a governor to vote for at the primary level. So, lots of decisions for you to make today and lots of bubbles to fill out in the ballot box. That's right. We'll get to more of that in just a little bit. The B Team Morning Show, Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell, brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. Going to be another scorcher out there today, sunshine and 95 this afternoon. So, we'll get to that forecast and local news later on in the hour. But first, we've got to take a look at our National Day calendar, and the first one to talk about is Serendipity Day. Oh, or as I like to call it, Schuyler's Life Plan. Yeah. Oh. Dumb luck. (01:10) That ain't luck. Hey, look, man. It's all good. It's all good. Accidents over effort somehow still get you promoted. I don't know. I don't know. Are you saying I'm a DEI hire? You are black. Serendipity Day is the annual civic ritual where we pretend the universe is a kindly bartender sliding you exactly what you need just because you wandered into the right room at the wrong time. You know, it's the official game. It's celebrate happy accidents, which is adorable, considering most of our lives are just accidents with recurring billing. Now, people swap stories about chance meetings, fond memories, and miraculous timing like chaos is a golden retriever and not a raccoon in the attic. (01:54) So light a candle for coincidence. Keep your expectations low. And remember, if something good happens today, it's either serendipity or you finally stop doing that one dumb thing. Serendipity Day, folks. There you go. Your first national holiday here on Tuesday, August 18th. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell with Rush on the Classic Rock Station 100.3 KROCK. (02:17) Joan Jett, I hate myself for loving you on the BT Morning Show with 100.3 KROCK, the Classic Rock Station. You know, yesterday at like 8.30, I got a phone call here in the studio from Tow Truck Paul. Yeah. And he said, happy start to the work week. I told him, I said, well, happy pre-Taco Tuesday. He said, it's Monday. I said, pre-Taco Tuesday, Paul. (02:44) He said, oh, yeah, that's right. Well, today, Bobby. It's Taco Tuesday. It's Taco Tuesday, and it's also National Fajita Day. Yeah, that's right. The one time where you pay extra for your dinner to arrive screaming. But it smells so good. Yeah. National Fajita Day is that sacred moment on the calendar where grown adults pretend a sizzling cast iron plate is a personality in a strip of skirt steak and, well, fix their week. Yeah. Yeah. It's a holiday built on theater, smoke, noise, and the optimism that your shirt won't catch the full blast of pepper grease like it's taking shrapnel for a nation. Everyone acts surprised the first time the server shows up with a loud little skillet, like we didn't all come here specifically to be announced to the room as the one who ordered the drama. (03:35) And sure, it's absurd, but so are most of your coping mechanisms. So this one just comes with the tortillas and a side of bad decisions and about four million plates. That's true. One for the tortillas, one for the rice, one for the beans, one for the salad, one for the fajitas. Have you ever noticed it's never like when there's just two people there at like a table for six, somebody gets the fajitas. It's always when you got 47 people scram crammed into a small little space. Right. One jack wagon orders fajitas. Right. Like, where the hell are you going to put all of that? Then everybody's like tucking their chicken wings in as far as they can. I know. I know. All right, let's take a break, pay a couple bills. (04:14) We got some local events to talk about, a couple more national holidays, but don't forget it's National Fajita Day. This is the B Team Morning Show. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell on 100.3 KROCK. You actually like this? Yeah, dude. It's classic rock. Well, there's more where that came from. 100.3 KROCK. Let the good times roll. There's the cars on the classic rock station, 100.3 KROCK. It's the B Team Morning Show. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas at OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. This is week one of the high school football season. We've got all the area high school football schedules posted online. If you go to our website, click on the events tab at thebteamshow.com, you'll find them all there. This entire season, home and away, we're going to be carrying the Nice Phil Eagles play-by-play on 103.7 the ticket and the Choctaw Indians on 94.3 FTW. We've got a couple of high school coaches coming in later on this week to chat with us as well. Well, today, Bobby, on the National Day calendar, this one seems like it speaks to you. National Bad Poetry Day. Oh, the holiday where every rhyme is a crime. Yeah, and somehow your ex's Facebook becomes a literary journal. Ooh, I went dark. National Bad Poetry Day is that sacred calendar square where we stop pretending everyone's creative voice deserves a standing ovation and, well, we just let the clunky metaphors roam free in the daylight. You know, it's for the brave souls who rhyme pain with rain like they intended weather and for the rest of us who clap anyway because we love them or we lost a bet. Look, the rules are simple. Write something terrible on purpose, read it out loud with conviction, and act shocked when it still sounds like a text you shouldn't have sent. Consider it community service for your ego because nothing keeps a person humble like realizing their inner poet needs adult supervision. National Bad Poetry Day. I feel like that can go off the chain pretty quick. All right, stick tight. (06:31) We've got one more national holiday to get to. Plus, we're going to talk about who our in-studio guests will be during the 8 o'clock hour. Big event happening out at the convention center this weekend. Right now, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. It's Ohio. Bad Medicine, Bon Jovi on 100.3 KROCK. A song that was 40 years ahead of its time for the COVID shot. (06:54) Fauci's theme song. The Fauci Ouchie right there. It's the B Team Morning Show brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre as well as Okaloosa Gas and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. Don't miss out if you are a bride or groom to be or maybe a parent of a bride or groom to be. The Coastal Weddings Expo is coming to the Destin Fort Walton Beach Convention Center this coming Sunday from 1 to 4. There's going to be dozens of vendors. (07:24) There's going to be all sorts of prizes and great stuff going on. So, if you're planning a wedding this year or next, get out to the Coastal Weddings Expo at the convention center this weekend. Ms. Lauren from Coastal Weddings Magazine will be joining Bobby and I on the air this morning at 8 o'clock to talk about that. But, Bobby, on the National Day calendar before we check local news momentarily, this one is the last one we have to talk about. (07:53) You know what? For a positive guy like you, I feel like you should just tell us about Never Give Up Day. Yeah, because nothing says self-improvement like turning stubbornness into a holiday and calling it inspirational. Yeah, let's just be bullheaded. (08:09) That's right. Never Give Up Day is a yearly reminder that quitting is a sin and persistence is a personality, so we all stand around pretending grit is free and failure builds character instead of just building bills. Yeah, look, it's not a holiday so much as a motivational ambush. You wake up and suddenly your half-finished goals are staring at you like a dog you forgot to feed. The official message is keep going, but the unofficial one is double down on whatever bad idea you already started and just do it with confidence. And sure, it's absurd, so is most of adulthood, but today we at least get a name tag for the stubbornness. (08:48) There you go. Never Give Up Day. I like that. All right, that wraps up the National Day calendar for this morning. We're going to take a break, pay a couple bills. Dan Diamond's got local news coming up next on the B Team Morning Show with 100.3 KROCK. (09:05) 100.3 KROCK, the Classic Rock Station. 7.10 is the time on a Tuesday morning. You can't hear me, huh? (09:22) No, I got nothing. Huh. Well, I'll look into that here in just a minute. 81 degrees in Destin-Fort Walton Beach, a high today of 96. We'll check your forecast in just a few short moments. The B Team Morning Show is on the air. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell. Tell you what, folks, there is plenty to get to on the news front this morning. We'll talk more about that story of the Fort Walton man that was charged in the fatal stabbing here the last day or so. (09:53) Also, we'll preview a couple events coming up, and local leaders also discussed the Highway Congestion west of Hurlburt Field and we'll get to the details on that discussion as well. Also, yesterday the Navarre Beach Boardwalk and Welcome Center went out for bids, although it was against resident opposition. We will get into that story that Channel 3 and Pensacola had as well. Lots to get to on this Tuesday morning. Plus, next hour, Lauren from Coastal Weddings Magazine will be joining us to talk about the Coastal Weddings Expo this Sunday at the Destin Fort Walton Beach Convention Center on Okaloosa Island. So, lots to talk about here over the next couple of hours. (10:44) I'm Schuyler Black. He's Bobby Dewrell. We are the B Team Morning Show brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub and Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. Later on this hour, we'll also get to your daily advice. Ask Uncle Bobby coming up in just a little while as well. Right now, 38 special. Hold on loosely. It's 100.3 KROCK. (11:07) We're under this thing today they call an extreme heat warning. That is true. Yeah. Starts at 11, continues on through eight o'clock tonight. They're saying heat index values climbing up to 115 this afternoon. So, drink plenty of fluids. Stay in air-conditioned rooms. (11:26) Stay out of the sun. Don't forget to check on your elderly neighbors and those four-legged friends outdoors if you can bring them in. Please do. Well, the proposed boardwalk and welcome center on Navarre Beach is one step closer to becoming a reality. Now, Santa Rosa County says the project is currently out for bid and some residents that Channel 3 and Pensacola talked to in Navarre are against the development. This is a project that's been in the works since 2019 and still many people who live in the Navarre Beach area are not on board. Now, here's what's planned. An event hall, a boardwalk, parking lot, and more. And that's what Santa Rosa County is planning for this undeveloped stretch of dunes between the Navarre Pier and the existing pavilions. And local resident Erica Thomas says nobody wants it. (12:21) No one out there wants it. Now, after hearing feedback from the community, the architects for the project went back to the drawing board and in September of last year, they came back with four options. Commissioners expressed a preference for option number three and that plan replaced the proposed visitor center with a community event hall. It also moved the public restrooms into a separate structure. So, if you live out in the Navarre area, expect to see some construction and development here on the beach before too long. Again, that Navarre Beach boardwalk and welcome center project is currently out for bids, even though local residents say, get it out of here. Yeah, that's right. Let's do more to just stunt the growth of this area. (13:09) Why not? Frigging morons. Well, and that kind of goes back to their fire district there on Navarre Beach. Yeah. Fire district's bankrupt. It's broke. You can't pay for anything. You want to bitch about taxes and then when you get a revenue alternative, oh no, I can't have it. (13:27) I know. Idiots. It's so ass backwards, isn't it? Just crazy. I might have to move. I can't do this anymore. Well, you know, the thing is that there's different parts of the country, right? You've got parts of the country that you would consider liberal. You've got parts of the country that you would consider conservative. This part of the country just hates government, period. And each other. And each other. Yeah. Well, why would I help him do that? He might make them money. Yeah. That territorial type of, you know, dog pissing on a mailbox post type of thing is very toxic for a small town. Yeah. So anyway, that is the scoop on the boardwalk development plan for Navarre Beach. Now coming up in just a little bit, Bobby's in a mood this morning. Yeah, Bobby is. So I think we need to all stick around and find out what he's got to say for Ask Uncle Bobby here. Probably nothing nice. In about 20 minutes. By the way, today is primary election day. So don't forget to get to the polls. Lots of candidates and lots of races to vote on today. And if you don't know and haven't gotten a text message, please call in and tell me how. Oh, God. And if you haven't gotten anything in your mailbox, you know, you want to talk about the other thing that really just grinds my gears about that is having a business and working in marketing and all that in the hoops that I have to jump through to be able to send a text message to someone via a system that I have. That they signed up for. That they signed up for. (15:23) That they have a history for me is ungodly believable. However, political campaigns don't have to do that. They can just grab any phone number they want and send it with not giving you an unsubscribe. They don't have to go through anything. Just, I mean, again, you know, the politicians that vote on stuff, we give them a special class because they're a ruling class. So then they don't understand what they put the small businesses through. Rules for thee, not for me. (15:52) Exactly. 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station. Good morning, everybody. Schuyler Black and Bobby Durrell. It's the B Team Morning Show. 7.37 is the time. Tuesday morning, or taco Tuesday, as Mr. Tow Truck Paul would like to say. There's not a Tuesday that goes by that he doesn't call in and remind us what day on the calendar it might be. All right. Well, folks, a 42-year-old Fort Walton Beach man named Cedric Hill was arrested and charged with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing Sunday evening on Lovejoy Road here in Fort Walton. Deputies responded to a reported disturbance at a residence on the road around 8.20 p.m. Sunday night and found a man in his 20s suffering from a stab wound. The victim was taken to the HCA Fort Walton Destin Hospital, where he later died despite efforts to save his life. Authorities say witnesses identified Hill as being involved in an altercation with the victim, and deputies reportedly found him at the scene holding a fixed blade knife. Now, Hill remains in the Okaloosa County Jail without bond while the investigation continues. So, that was news off the crime beat here in Fort Walton Beach. Also, tomorrow morning, Fort Walton residents will have an opportunity to meet local firefighters during a coffee with a firefighter event from 9 until 10 at Beach Weekend Coffee in downtown Fort Walton. The informal gathering is designed to give community members a chance to talk with firefighters, ask questions, share feedback, or simply stop by for a conversation over coffee. The event will take place at Beach Weekend Coffee downtown on the Miracle Strip. So, if you're interested in going to that, maybe chatting with Chief or any of his leadership over there about what the fire department's needs are here in the next couple of years. A good opportunity for local taxpayers to get with departments and kind of discuss what the departments need to operate and function. So, don't miss out on that opportunity tomorrow at Beach Weekend Coffee downtown Fort Walton. All right, coming up in just a little bit, we've got your daily advice coming up with Uncle Bobby. And folks, I want you to stick around for it because I can tell the mood that Bobby's in this morning. Are you better now than you were half an hour ago? Yeah, I'm still frustrated, but we just have to see where the question comes from. Okay, well, maybe it'll be a softball. (18:44) It might be. Maybe it'll be a little cotton candy puff question, right? Maybe not. We'll get to that here in about seven minutes. It's the B Team Morning Show brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. It's the B Team Morning Show. I'm Schuyler Black, he's Bobby Dewrell. This is 100.3 KROCK. Here's the who. The DewBob Walks. Yeah, well, maybe not quite yet. (19:10) He's got some advice to give this morning. It's the B Team Morning Show on 100.3 KROCK, Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell. The music in the background tells us it's time for your daily advice. Ask Uncle Bobby. All stitched together by our friends at Hard Rock Bet. How'd that work? Not too well. (19:32) Tennis' final grand slam of the year is underway in New York, and Hard Rock Bet is your way to serve winners all tournament long. Whether you're backing the world's top players or live betting every break point, tie break, there's so many ways to get in on the action on Hard Rock Bet, Florida's only legal sports book. Offered by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Must be 21 and over. (19:56) Physically present in Florida to wager. Terms and conditions apply. Concerned about your gambling? Call or text 1-833-PLAY-WES. Well said, Bobby. Well, I try. Alright, today, Uncle Bobby, your question comes in from Truffle Smoke Envy. Hmm. Hmm. Sounds like food. Alright. (20:14) Dear Uncle Bobby, I want to turn regular weeknight meals into unforgettable experiences that impress my friends and family. How do I elevate everyday dinner without needing a restaurant kitchen? You don't need a restaurant kitchen, okay? You need a courtroom, alright? (20:33) Because dinner isn't food anymore. Dinner's your audition. Your problem is you think elevation comes from ingredients, and that's an amateur move, quite frankly. Look, elevation comes from spectacle. People don't remember what they eat. They remember what they survived. Hmm. (20:51) See, you gotta start small, alright? So never serve a plate directly. Plates are for quarters. You gotta serve everything as a reveal. Walk in holding a covered dish like it's evidence. Make them wait. Make them stare at it. Ask them if they're ready to commit. (21:08) Then lift the lid slowly like you're opening an ancient tomb. And let the steam hit them in the face like blessing and a warning all at the same time. Next, you gotta weaponize the table, okay? You put dinner on a timer. Not to cook it. No, no, no. To count it down. (21:26) See, let a dramatic ticking fill the room. And when it hits zero, you announce the secret ingredient twist. Now, there doesn't have to be one. The point is the fear, see? Then you make them compete. Two teams, one napkin. Whoever folds it best gets the last garlic knot. (21:42) And civilization returns to its natural state in about, eh, nine seconds. Now, you gotta take that final step. This is the big one. You gotta Rube Goldberg the meal. See, a string pulls a bell. The bell tips a spoon. (21:58) The spoon releases a lemon onto the grater, over the fish. Is it efficient? No! No, it's not efficient. Is it edible? Eh, maybe. But your guests will talk about it like they witnessed a controlled demolition. And that's the entire game. (22:14) See, and then when someone says they just wanted a simple dinner, you look them dead in the soul and you remind them simple dinners are how families forget each other. And you're not feeding them. You're imprinting on them. Like a culinary comet. (22:29) Beautiful. Loud. Mildly dangerous. Sounds great. What are you fixing tonight? Nah, I don't know. You'll have to see. You're just gonna text me a picture? You'll just have to see. This is what I did. (22:44) You'll just have to come see. Truffle Smoke Envy. There you go. There's the response this morning from Uncle Bobby. On his culinary side today. Alright. Hey, if you missed today's advice, you can always find today's advice and past episodes as well at our website, TheBTeamShow.com or you can get all the episodes and your exclusive Do Bob merch at DewBob.com. (23:08) That's right. D-E-W-Bob.com Alright. It's Ask Uncle Bobby every morning around 745. Brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. It's 751. We'll take a break. Dan Diamond has local news coming up next on 100.3 KROCK. (23:26) 100.3 KROCK. The classic rock station. Jimmy and fire. And that's basically what it's gonna feel like outside today, Bobby. Yeah, it's getting there. It's getting there with the UV index up around 10 and, well, hardly any wind. (23:41) Yeah. It's gonna be very hot. Heat index values climbing up to about 115 this afternoon. That puts us under an extreme heat warning until 8 o'clock tonight. So stay hydrated, folks. Yeah, we do have a little bit of a breeze coming out of the northwest at 7 miles an hour. (23:58) It's like a convection oven when it's this hot. It's kind of like just a blast furnace, right? Chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. this afternoon. Probably gonna be mostly up around that Crestview line. So that high is gonna hit 96. (24:13) But I feel like 112. So there you go. And we've got a guest in studio, Bobby. Miss Lauren with Coastal Weddings is joining us this morning. And you mentioned Crestview. I wonder if Lauren knows your acronym, UCLA. (24:28) Oh, yeah. Upper Crestview, Lower Alabama. No, I had never heard that. California? UCLA? Yeah, UCLA. And I also talk if I've got to go north of I-10, I call that the Great White North. Oh, nice. (24:44) My mom lives north of the I-10, and she says if she goes south of the I-10, she has to put on real shoes. Well, if you've got to cross the Shoal River, you've basically crossed the Mason-Dixon line. I'm just saying. Well, this is the guy that has a big rule that he lives by, that he does not cross more than three bridges. (25:02) That's correct. Ooh, that's a tough one. Yeah, and I live in Chalamar, which pretty much means it's two bridges to get anywhere. Yeah, including work. That's right. So I make it to Okaloosa Island, Destin, not so much. That's too far. Yeah. Fourth bridge. (25:17) If we're going to Destin, it's by boat. It is a bridge too far. Oh, geez. Good one. This guy. Well, Lauren, this morning you're in to talk to us about the Coastal Weddings Expo that you all have coming up this Sunday. (25:33) So tell us a little bit about that, because this is an event that you all started here in Okaloosa County just a few years ago. And maybe if you're a bride or groom-to-be or the parent of a bride or groom-to-be, you may have heard about the Coastal Weddings Magazine or expos that are similar over in Pensacola, but this is a rather new thing over here in Okaloosa County. (25:55) Yes, it absolutely is. So this will be our third year. Like you said, we have two successful shows in Pensacola, and I thought we'd stretch down the coast because people get married over here too. And so it is coming up. Quite a few people, actually. (26:11) It's coming up on Sunday at the Destin for Walton Beach Convention Center from 1 to 4, and it's a great opportunity to do, stats say, six months of wedding planning in one day. Wow. Yes. (26:26) So you'll be able to meet tons of vendors to help you make your day successful. There's also amazing giveaways, and a lot of vendors run some specials, so you can also save a little bit of money on your budget for your wedding if you come out and check it out. You know, and when you think about weddings, it's like there's probably a dozen different categories that go into it. (26:47) There's more than that. Yeah. I mean, I'm thinking jewelers, bridal and tux shops, venues, music. Florals. Florists. Photographers. Hair and makeup. Well, I'm a guy. I don't think about that. (27:02) Yeah, there's a ton. You're a DJ or you're a band, you're entertainment. Right, caterers. Video guy. Yeah, videography. Social media specialist. You're right, content creation. They are big now. Cake decorators. Dessert bars. (27:17) And Bobby, he is a minister. I thought you were going to say cake bakers. No, no, no. I was like, dang, you're talented. Yeah, you need an officiant. Yep. So there's so many categories, and so you're going to have a bunch of those categories in one spot on Sunday. (27:34) Absolutely. And then we're also, at this show, introducing a runway show. So you'll get to see bridal fashion walking in real life. I know, guys. Hold your excitement. No, no, no. Hold on. Try it again. We'll do better. Do it again. (27:49) There's going to be a runway show. Yeah. So here's what you got Kyler confused by. He grew up in aviation, so he's trying to figure out why a plane is going. What the runway is doing there? He was looking for his marshaling sticks. And you know, it is a lighted runway, but a little different than what you're thinking. (28:05) Okay. I'm not quite as excited about that, then. Yes, beautiful gowns walking. A lot going on. Plus, you've got a bunch of prizes and giveaways, too, right? Yes, we do. A lot of the vendors supply giveaways that we'll raffle off as door prizes, so you'll get tickets when you enter. (28:22) And you have different opportunities. You can have a general admission ticket, which is only $10 ahead of time, or we still have VIP options available, which will give you an elevated goodie bag and extra tickets to win. And you get in 30 minutes early, so you've got all the vendors to yourself during that time. (28:38) Oh, nice. You don't have to stand in line. Right, right. Gets you right in there. You and 500 of your closest friends get that private time. No, it's limited. $4.99. Yes, $4.50. (28:54) Well, Lauren, where's the best way that folks can buy tickets ahead of time? Yes, go to our website, coastalweddingsmagazine.com, and you can find the tickets there, or you can check out our Facebook page, Coastal Weddings Co. Coastal Weddings Co. (29:10) Yep. On Facebook. Not com. Co. Co. C-O. C-O. Like com, no end. Right. Very close. Exactly. If you type DM, you're screwed. You're done. Not working. (29:25) Totally different site. We also have the link to get to the Coastal Weddings website. If you go to thebteamshow.com on the Events tab, we've got it listed as an event. Now, that's .com. Perfect. We could afford DM. Yeah. We paid for the extra money. There's no money in weddings. (29:40) Good job, guys. No money in weddings. Nope. These guys do it out of the goodness of their own heart. It's not a $70 billion industry. Tell us a little bit about the magazine that you all do. Yes. So, we do an annual magazine. It just released in June. And it is given out to all of the attendees at all three expos. (29:58) So, like I said. We have two Pensacola Expos. So our first one's in June, and then we do the Destin Expo, and then it's handed out again at the January Expo. And then we run 32,000 copies of it and distribute it from Orange Beach through Panama City. That's a big coverage area. Yes, and it's got real weddings in it, so you can see some inspiration from weddings that have happened in our area with vendors in our area. And then also a lot of editorials where you can learn about florals and planning and DJs and music and all those categories. (30:25) So I gotta ask. You know, and one category you did miss is attorneys. Divorce attorneys. I always thought that these wedding expos should be sponsored by divorce attorneys. I mean, really. No, we're setting them up for success. Maybe we'll add a therapist in there. Counseling. (30:43) So do you do wedding planning too, yourself? I do not. No. Yeah. Not your fortune. I do. That was a pretty adamant no. So I plan the expos themselves. So those are a beast on their own. Yeah, I guess there's some planning into that too. (30:59) Yeah. Oh, quite a bit. Yeah, I would imagine. But you've got dozens of vendors that'll be out there Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 at the convention center on the island. Get out there, buy your tickets. If you're a bride or groom-to-be, maybe the parent or family member of a bride or groom-to-be, it's a great opportunity to see lots of vendors, lots of different categories in one spot. (31:19) Kind of make it a one-stop shop for you. And if you're in a different stage in life, if you're looking for a divorce attorney, you can find them trolling the parking lots. Possibly. And I'll ask them to leave. Lauren says, not here today. Nope. I'll get into that parking lot. (31:34) Now, if you'd like to learn more on this show and what Coastal Weddings offers, Lauren's going to be going down the hall to 94.3 FTW to join Dan Diamond. That's right. On the air over there. Can't wait. So looking forward to the event Sunday. Lauren, thanks so much for making the drive over. (31:51) I know it's a little bit of a haul from where you're coming from. It was smooth today, though. Yeah. Hopefully it's smooth going back as well. Hopefully. Yeah. Thank you, guys. Not around 3 o'clock. No, I totally don't want to be in that late. Yeah. Now you've got that extra school traffic this time of year, too. Yes. (32:07) Yep. All right. Van Halen, dance the night away. This is the B Team Morning Show. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 KROCK. Good morning. .3 KROCK, the Classic Rock Station. It's 8.28 on this Monday morning. I want to thank Miss Lauren for coming in, driving all the way over from the other side of Pensacola this morning to chat with us about the Coastal Weddings Expo that happens on a Sunday afternoon at the Destin Fort Walton Beach Convention Center. (32:35) Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell, it's 8.29. The B Team Show is on the air, brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas at Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. And, Bobby, it's no secret, today it's going to be another scorcher out there. (32:50) Yes, it is. Yeah. Current temp outside is 85. Heat index making it feel like 102 already this morning. Absolutely brutal this afternoon. Heat index climbing up to 115. (33:05) So if you are going to spend much time outdoors today, make sure you stay hydrated, get some A.C. from time to time, and, yeah, just be smart about how much outdoor activity you do today. Now, unfortunately, this was brought to my attention a little bit ago, but you've got the Coffee with a Firefighter event tomorrow at Beach Weekend Coffee, also overlapping the Citizens Input meeting with the City of Fort Walton's Community Redevelopment Agency meeting tomorrow morning from 9 to 10 at City Hall. (33:41) So you're going to have to pick one or the other when it comes to those events. If I was a different type of person, I might hop right on Facebook and make a video about how it's a conspiracy. But I wouldn't be that way. It's not too late, Bobby. It's not too late. (33:58) But tomorrow morning from 9 to 10, Mr. Tim Gibson and the Growth Management Office will be hosting the CRA Citizens Input meeting from 9 to 10. This is a monthly meeting, and there's going to be another one coming up in the month of September on Wednesday the 16th, if you can't make tomorrow's meeting. (34:20) Hang on. Hang on. How's that Wednesday the 16th going to work? Because it says it's at the public library from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and they're not open after 5. No, I think they're open until 6. The library is open until 6. I thought I saw 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. was the hours. (34:36) I'm going to look into that now, because if that's the case, then I don't know. I'm pretty sure it's 10 to 6 Tuesday through Friday. Nope. Library hours Sunday and Monday closed, Tuesday through Friday 10 to 5, Saturday 10 to 4. (34:56) Really? 41 hours a week is all the libraries open? Yeah, yeah. It's a real pain, isn't it? That is, yeah, pain in the asinine. Yeah, so how's the next CRA going to work? (35:12) And then what are we going to schedule on top of the 9 to 10 a.m. one on August 21st? Coffee with cops? Maybe we can work on something, Bobby. We can come up with our own event. Coffee with The B Team. Well, you know, it's why get input when we're going to paint fire hydrants, because that's the best use of funds. (35:30) Yeah, that's tomorrow morning down at City Hall. But yeah, we're going to have to look into the next scheduled event at the library from 5 to 6, because if their hours are now restricted to 10 to 5, then how's that going to work? (35:46) So we'll look into that here a little bit more as we get closer to it. We'll take a break, though, and pay a couple bills. Before we get into the encore hour at 9 o'clock, it's coming up. Right now, a quick look at your forecast on 100.3 KROCK. (36:03) The yellow and living thing on the classic rock station, 100.3 KROCK. It's The B Team morning show. Beautiful sunshine coming up over Okaloosa County this morning, but it's hot, 85 right now. Heat index already at 102. (36:18) Well, up in Cane Tuck, a woman woke up to discover that a bear had wandered into her house and helped herself to leftover KFC. It was really unbearable. Now, Kendra North and her partner had left the front door of their Harlan County home open for some fresh air and forgot to close it before going to bed. (36:40) Well, North woke up after her sister called to warn her about a bear nearby, only to discover that bear had gotten inside and eaten her fried chicken and smashed a glass table. She said that she's more sad about the loss of her leftover KFC than she is about the table. (36:56) Apparently, the bear traffic wasn't over. Two days later, she spotted another bear on her porch while she was making sloppy joes. Her lesson from all this? Keep that front door shut all the way through the night now. Apparently, 7 p.m. is bear time now, too. (37:13) Yeah, they're coming over for supper, so just make sure the door's shut. They're not invited in. One final song before we get out of here and get ready for the encore hour at the top of nine. Eddie Money's I Want to Go Back. (37:29) This is the B Team Morning Show with 100.3 KROCK. But we're out of time for the B Team Morning Show for today. Don't forget, it is primary election day. Get out there, cast your ballot, local school board elections. Plus, you've also got a number of statewide elections for Senate, for Governor. (37:50) So get out there and do your duty today. Today is the primary election date, and the general election date is coming up here in about two and a half months on Tuesday, November 3rd. I want to thank our sponsors, including Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (38:11) If you missed anything Bobby and I talked about this morning, from local news and events to your national holidays, your daily Ask Uncle Bobby feature and the show on demand, it's all available online for you at thebteamshow.com. (38:26) We will holler at you back here tomorrow morning, bright and early at 6. Of course, we've got the encore hour coming up, but the show back on the air in its entirety tomorrow morning at 6. I'm Schuyler Black, Bobby Durrell, get us on out. Hey folks, thanks for joining the B Team Morning Show, your leading alternative to quality programming right here on the Emerald Coast. (38:44) Now, we know you have a choice in what you listen to each and every day, and we appreciate the fact that you settled down on this wild ride that we call a morning show. But it's come that time of day, we've got to mosey on out of here, so you keep on rockin', keep on rollin'. Never settle for the ordinary. Till the next time, the B Team is out. (38:59) That's a wrap on today's B Team Redux.
