**National Potato Day & the $10 Million Reef Gamble: Why Your 401k Panic Is More Rational Than County Spending**
Description
We spent ten million dollars on a rusty boat nobody asked for, celebrated potatoes like they're heroes, and got lectured about 401(k)s by a man who just compared retirement planning to raccoons in a trash can—because apparently, that's where we're at as a society.

Show Notes
Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell kicked off another irreverent Tuesday morning on 100.3 KROCK, broadcasting from Fort Walton Beach on Florida's Emerald Coast — where the weather's damn near perfect and the potato jokes write themselves. Today's national holiday lineup featured National Potato Day (because apparently a lumpy dirt torpedo deserves a parade), Vote Early Day (democracy as a crockpot recipe — set it and forget it), American Beer Day (honoring the proud tradition of turning water into regret), and Cranky Coworkers Day (Bobby's personal holiday, naturally). Sunshine and 80 degrees this afternoon — we'll take it, especially with Halloween weekend bearing down on us like a freight train full of candy corn and bad decisions.
Speaking of Halloween, the Hispanic Heritage Festival finally happens Saturday at The Landing (noon to 9 p.m.) after two weather-related reschedules — third time's a charm, folks. Fort Walton Beach is closing portions of Brooks Street and Bay Drive Saturday night (5:30–8:30 p.m.) for trick-or-treating, while the Tricks and Treasures event returns to the boardwalk on Okaloosa Island (5–8 p.m.) with carnival games, costume contests, and a treasure map scavenger hunt. Sunday brings the second annual One Hopeful Place Chili Cook-Off at Lou's Tavern (11 a.m.–2 p.m.) — because nothing says community spirit like competitive chili and skeleton-themed fundraising. Our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach keep the show rolling, and we're grateful for it.
In "Ask Uncle Bobby" — brought to you by Hard Rock Bet (Florida's only legal sportsbook, because the Seminole Tribe said so) — our favorite curmudgeon tackled a 401(k) panic attack from a 53-year-old whose left eye started twitching after opening his quarterly statement. Bobby's diagnosis? You're finally noticing the scam. They took the pension, handed you the risk, called it empowerment, and now some guy in a fleece vest sneezes in Singapore and your future's 6% lighter. Stop opening the statement like it owes you an apology — quarterly checking turns a long-term problem into four tiny heart attacks a year. Panic is the only investment strategy guaranteed to lose money and dignity at the same time. Sage advice from a man who's watched Wall Street burn the toast, blame the toaster, and still collect a bonus.
On the sports front, the Milwaukee Brewers dominated the Tampa Bay Rays 10–1 in Game 3 of the World Series (potential sweep incoming), while the Cowboys improved to 3–4 with a 38–21 Monday Night Football win over the struggling Eagles. Locally, catch high school football Friday night: Niceville Eagles on 103.7 The Ticket, Choctaw Big Green Indians on 94.3 FTW. And in news that has Bobby thrilled beyond measure, Okaloosa County announced the SS United States — our $10 million artificial reef investment — will be sunk November 12th, about 22 miles southwest in the Gulf. There's a public ceremony November 11th at the convention center and a live viewing party at AJ's on the island. Bobby's excitement level? Somewhere between root canal and jury duty. But hey, at least it's not two sunken ships. Yet. Until tomorrow, keep it locked on KROCK — your leading alternative to quality programming.

(00:01) Here's today's B Team Redux. Alright, there's the Dire Straits. Money for nothing. I want my B Team and you've got them. B Team Morning Show is on the air. Brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre. Okaloosa Gas and Outcast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (00:17) Schuyler Black, Bobby Dewrell. Going to be another beautiful day, Bobby, here on the Emerald Coast. Can't ask for better fall weather in the last week of October. Sunshine in 80 this afternoon. We will take it. (00:33) And if there's one way to celebrate beautiful weather in October, it's by eating potatoes, apparently. Because today is National Potato Day. That's right. We needed a holiday to honor the only thing that can be mashed, fried, and still outperform half the workforce. (00:49) No, you can't fix a potato a lot of different ways. National Potato Day is that precious moment on the calendar where we all pretend a lumpy dirt torpedo deserves a parade because it survived famine, cafeteria trays, and your cousin's air fryer era. (01:04) Yeah. Wow. You know, it's a celebration of the most reliable carbohydrate on earth. It's humble, it's versatile, and somehow, it's always present when society's hanging by a thread. You know, you don't have to believe in it. You just show up. Pick your form of potato worship. (01:20) Mash? Vodka adjacent? I don't know. Act like this isn't the closest thing we have to stability. You know, consider it less a holiday and more a warning label. If your life's a mess, at least you can still make something hot and salty out of the ground. (01:37) Yeah, you can. You can make a potato so many different ways. You missed a few, too. I know. I feel like that whole thing should have been done with an Irish let. Ah, it's National Potato Day. Yeah. Got our lucky little leprechaun in house, too. (01:54) Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Joseph. It's the BT Morning Show. Rock it and roll it this Tuesday morning. There's the Eagles. Already gone. We're going to spin it for you now on 100.3K Rock. Don't call us. (02:10) There's Sugarloaf. Don't call us. We'll call you. It's the BT Morning Show. That's kind of what folks do with Ask Uncle Bobby advice. They call Uncle Bobby. And we'll do your daily advice here in about 90 minutes around 745 this morning. (02:27) So stay with us. If you are a struggle bus in this Tuesday morning and you just need Bobby to point you in the right direction, well, he'll take care of that here in just a little while. Yes, I will. Don't forget, coming up this Sunday, 11 till 2 is the second annual One Hopeful Place Chili Cook-Off. (02:45) Happens at Lou's Tavern right here in Fort Walton Beach. Guests can enjoy an afternoon of hearty chili, Halloween-themed fun, and community spirit while supporting One Hopeful Place, an organization dedicated to helping locals in need. So the event is going to be an opportunity for chili cooks to compete and share their best recipes, making it a chance for food lovers and community members alike to come together for a flavorful cause. (03:11) So don't miss out on the One Hopeful Place Chili Cook-Off this Sunday, 11 till 2 at Lou's Tavern. Well, today, Bobby, on the National Day calendar, you're going to tell us about Vote Early Day. That's right, because nothing says you trust the process like milling your opinion in before the candidates finish embarrassing themselves. (03:31) Welcome to Fort Walton Beach. Just saying. Oh, Vote Early Day is that shiny little civic holiday where we all pretend the best way to honor democracy is to treat our ballot like a crockpot recipe. Set it early and walk away. You know, the pitch is simple. (03:46) Skip the election day scrum, beat the lines, dodge whatever fresh chaos is waiting like a raccoon in a trash can. You know, it's part public service, part panic management, part reminder that the system runs best when you don't show up all at once like it's a concert and there's only one door. (04:03) Anyway, mark your calendar and act responsible in advance, because nothing says freedom like scheduling your participation. That's right. Vote Early Day. That is today, October 27th. Yes. (04:18) And early voting here in Florida ends on Friday. Election Day is next Tuesday, one week from now. Yeah, I'm debating if I'm actually going to. I usually try to be an election day voter. Me too. I might go down early this year. I'm old fashioned, Bobby. (04:33) Yeah, I just, I don't know. I like going on the day. Yeah, me too. Just feels different, doesn't it? And when you're four weeks ahead, it just seems wrong. All right, stick tight, a quick break, a look at your marine forecast is coming up next on the B Team Morning Show with 100.3 KROCK. (04:49) You actually like this? Yeah, dude, it's classic rock. Well, there's more where that came from. 100.3 KROCK. DC, have a drink on me on the classic rock station, 100.3 KROCK. And you know what? That is the perfect segue into our next holiday here on the B Team Show. (05:06) Bobby, tell us about American Beer Day. Well, first of all, nothing says national pride like turning water into regret and calling it a culture. But don't tell me you've never indulged. Never. Right. Today. Yeah. Today, yes. American Beer Day is that proud little square on the calendar where we pretend a beverage needs a parade. (05:26) You know, like barley and regret ever asked for public recognition. You know, it's a nod to the day beer got legalized again after prohibition, which is, you know, America in a nutshell. We ban something, we fail heroically, then throw a party to celebrate giving up. (05:42) You know, the rules are simple. Raise a glass, tell yourself it's heritage, and act shocked when the tab shows up like a debt collector with manners. You know, it's not about getting drunk. It's about honoring the national tradition of calling it culture when we're just thirsty. (05:58) American Beer Day. And I will tell you, I did indulge in beer in Helen, Georgia, last weekend. In beverages. In the beverages. In the beverages. Hey, coming up on Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening, don't miss out on the Hispanic Heritage Festival at The Landing. (06:19) Goes from noon until 9 p.m. Now, yes, we've been talking about this event for a while, but because of uncooperative weather earlier in the month, well, third time's a charm here. It's coming up Saturday afternoon from noon until 9. It'll be a celebration of Hispanic culture, music, art, food, and community to the Emerald Coast. (06:39) So don't miss out. We've got the details on this event and so many more at our website, which is thebteamshow.com. Schuyler Blank and Bobby Dewrell, we are the B Team Morning Show. Rocking and rolling this Tuesday morning, sniffing the tears in the driver's seat on 100.3 KROCK. (06:57) Tom Petty, here comes my girl on the classic rock station, 100.3 KROCK. Well, this weekend is Halloween. You've got all sorts of trick-or-treating and trunk-or-treating going on around the area. You've also got the One Hopeful Place chili cook-off. (07:12) But next week, we're talking about another First Friday Coffee with the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce. The annual 38 Barbecue Festival out at Sandestan. And the Emerald Coast Rodeo happening at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville next week. (07:29) So we've got details on all of those events and more at our website, thebteamshow.com. So check that out any time you want it. Yeah, you can also check out emeraldcoastconnected.com. Yeah, more than 1,000 local events throughout the remainder of the year, all on emeraldcoastconnected.com. (07:48) emeraldcoastconnected.com. Newer and gooder than ever. That's right. Well, today we celebrate Bobby. In this final Tuesday of Bobtober, it's Cranky Coworkers Day. Yeah, that's right. It's finally a holiday for people who treat good morning like a personal attack and productivity like a crime scene. (08:06) Right. Yeah. Bobby. Hey, you know what? It's my day and I own it. It's been your month. True. True. Cranky Coworkers Day is that sacred little speed bump on the calendar where we stop pretending the office is family and admit it's more like a group project run by caffeine and quiet resentment. (08:25) Look, you show up, you nod politely, and you let the grumps have their moment without trying to fix them like you're some kind of emotional handyman with a broken wrench. OK, look, the whole point is simple. Acknowledge the attitude, lower your expectations and keep your fingers off reply all. (08:42) It's not about celebrating misery. It's about naming it, containing it and making it to lunch without catching a case. Cranky Coworkers Day. How are you feeling so far? Peachy. I can't even give him hell about it. (08:59) All right. We'll take a break, pay a couple of bills, a look at your forecast is coming up in just a bit on 100.3 KROCK. It is a cool and crisp Tuesday morning. Clear skies, 59 degrees. (09:14) 704 Van Halen when it's love on the B Team Morning Show. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell. Hour number two brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre. Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (09:31) It's a week away from Election Day. Going to be an interesting week out there, Bobby. Yep. Going to be an interesting one. We will see a high today of 81. We're staying above seasonal averages this next week. (09:46) Highs in the low 80s and even a tick up in some humidity this weekend. It will be more like a September feel than the first week. First day of November by Sunday. Yeah. We'll check that full forecast here in just a little bit. (10:05) Here's a list of stories that we're working on for you. This morning, we're going to talk about some road closures that the city of Fort Walton Beach has planned for Saturday night for trick-or-treating and Halloween. We'll also talk about Okaloosa County setting the deployment date for that new artificial reef that's the S.S. United States. And we'll also talk about Okaloosa Island and the Boardwalk hosting a Halloween event with trick-or-treating coming up on Saturday as well. There's a lot happening with everything kind of coming down between the last week of the election. You've got Halloween. You've got the Hispanic Heritage Festival down at the landing on Saturday. It's just a whole culmination of stuff happening here over the next several days, and we're going to do our best to talk about it on the air and keep you informed as well. And of course, later on this hour, we are going to get your daily advice. Uncle Bobby's going to offer that up around 745. (11:20) And a Republican nominee for Florida governor, Byron Donalds, was in our neck of the woods yesterday. We'll talk about that as well. So stay with us. Plenty to get to here on this Tuesday morning. REO, Mountain, and more on the way at this set right now. Def Leppard and Animal. (11:45) There's Mountain and Mississippi Queen on the Classic Rock Station 100.3 KROCK. It's the B Team Morning Show. 722 is the time. I'm Schuyler Black. He is Bobby Dewrell. We appreciate you all dialing in and spending your Tuesday morning with us. Bobby, we've actually dropped two degrees this hour, down to 57. Well, there you go. Last night, Game 3 of the World Series. (12:17) It was an absolute dominating effort from the Milwaukee Brewers. A 10-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. And now it's down to a potential sweep coming up in Game 4. But Milwaukee, man. Is this their first World Series? Potentially a championship? I don't know. It's a good question. (12:44) Because it's been like 45 years, I believe, since they've been in the World Series. But I don't know if they've ever won it. Yeah, I don't know. It's a good question. So there's a good chance there could be a lot of beer being drank in Wisconsin. Really? In Wisconsin, you think? Yeah. Well, more so than normal. More so than normal. Say it ain't so. (13:03) Monday night football last night. Cowboys took down the Eagles. Philly's in trouble. Without Jalen Hurts under center. Yeah, it's not the same Eagles team. And the Cowboys improved to 3-4 on the year with a 38-21 win in Philly. Taking a look at some of the box scores. Dak Prescott was 15-27 for 212 yards and three touchdown passes for the Cowboys. And out of the backfield, Javonte Williams, 25 carries, 155 yards and one TD. C.D. Lamb and George Pickens had the three touchdown catches for the Cowboys. On the other side of the field, Tanner McKee was 23-35 for 211 yards and one TD and one pick for the Eagles. So Philly drops to 2-5 and Dallas improves to 3-4. So that wraps up Week 7 in the NFL. And of course, Friday night, we turn our attention here locally to high school football. We're going to carry high school football games for you on our sister stations. On 103.7 The Ticket, you can catch the Niceville Eagles. And on 94.3 FTW, you can catch the Choctaw Big Green Indians. All right, that's what we got lined up for you. (14:39) Let's take a look at that schedule real quick. No, Thursday night, Choctaw at Booker T. Washington. So we'll have that one for you Thursday night on 94.3 FTW. There you go. All right. Hey, stay with us. We'll take a break, pay a couple bills. 81 is going to be our high this afternoon. (15:01) That full forecast is coming up. Uncle Bobby's got your advice in about 20 minutes on the B Team Morning Show with 100.3 KROCK. Is this love? No, it's the B Team. Yeah, that's who we are. (15:17) We're giving you our form of love this morning by being here. The B Team Morning Show on 100.3 KROCK brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. It is a beautiful, bright, and sunny Tuesday morning here in South Okaloosa County. (15:38) Right now, 57 degrees outside. Not too warm, but it will warm up later. A high today of 81 degrees. So we'll get to that full forecast in just a bit. Plus, Dan Diamond has local news after Ask Uncle Bobby in the next 10 minutes. But yesterday, the City of Fort Walton Beach did let residents know that the Fort Walton Beach Police Department and Public Works will shut down portions of Brooks Street and Bay Drive from 5.30 until 8.30 p.m. Saturday night, October 31st for Halloween and trick-or-treating to manage the expected pedestrian traffic. Pedestrians and golf carts may use those closed areas while drivers must follow detour routes. So just a heads up on that. (16:26) And then also on Saturday, the 11th annual Tricks and Treasures event returns to the boardwalk on Okaloosa Island from 5 until 8 p.m. featuring trick-or-treating through a treasure map, which sounds kind of cool, carnival games, costume contest, and live entertainment. And participants who complete the treasure map can redeem it at the Crab Trap for a special treat. (16:50) So we'll have details on both of those mentions on our website here later on this morning at thebteamshow.com. But it is that time of year. Things are really stacking up on our calendar. (17:06) If we take a look at next weekend, you've got the Emerald Coast Rodeo, you've got the 30A Barbecue Festival. There's just a lot happening here over the next couple of weeks, and we're doing our best to keep everybody updated on it again at thebteamshow.com. Later on in the show this morning, we're going to preview some of the college football matchups this weekend that are going to be some of the premier games across the country. And then, of course, we'll talk about some football games that we're going to carry on our sister stations this weekend as well. Gators are back after a bye week. Big rivalry game with Georgia coming up on Saturday. (17:49) All right, stick tight. Ask Uncle Bobby in about seven minutes. Right now, the Allman Brothers, they've got one way out. It's right here on 100.3 KROCK. Well, I don't know about Uncle Tom, but I do know I've got Uncle Bobby here. That's right. (18:05) We did have Uncle Tom on the air when Bobby was gone for like a month earlier this year, but I haven't had one of those deals for a little while. It's the B Team Morning Show, 748th time. Gorgeous Tuesday morning here in Fort Walton Beach, and the music in the background tells us it's time for your daily advice. Ask Uncle Bobby, all brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. (18:29) That's right. This October on Hard Rock Bet, there's no sweats, just swings during the fall classic. That's right. New customers can sign up today and bet $5 to get up to $500 in no-sweat bets. That's right, up to $500 in no-sweat bets. And once you're in the Hard Rock Bet lineup, you can build epic same-game parlays for every game. And if you miss the first pitch, it's no problem. There's a pitch-by-pitch live betting through all nine innings. (18:58) So you never are too late to the action. So step up to the plate today and download Hard Rock Bet, Florida's only legal sportsbook. Now, it's not a cash offer. It's offered by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. It must be 21 and physically present in Florida to wager. (19:15) Terms and conditions apply. If you're concerned about your gambling, we'll call or text 1-833 PlayWise. All right. Good stuff there, Bobby. Good stuff. Yeah, try to be, you know. All right. Today, your question... And you know, if you're watching and betting on every pitch through nine innings, you don't have a problem. Don't call PlayWise. Just keep doing what you're doing. Advice from Uncle Bobby. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no. Nothing's wrong with that. (19:42) All right. Uncle Bobby, your question today comes in from Twitching by the mailbox. Dear Uncle Bobby, I opened my quarterly 401k statement and it was down again. And I swear my left eye started twitching. I'm 53. (19:59) My dad retired with a pension and a gold watch. And I've been told for 30 years that the market always comes back. So should I be panicking or am I just finally noticing the scam? Well, look, first of all, panic is a financial plan for raccoons and casino uncles, okay? (20:18) You know, I mean, it feels busy, it makes noise, and it ends with somebody knocking over a trash can at 2 a.m., right? So first, yes, you are finally noticing the scam. So congratulations. They took the pension, pulled the guarantee out like a prize from a cereal box, and handed you the risk and called it empowerment. You know, your dad got a gold watch because his company had to pretend it was grateful. You got a password, a pie chart, and a quarterly reminder that some guy in a fleece vest sneezed in Singapore, and now your future is 6% lighter. You know, look, the 401k is a slot machine you're not allowed to touch for 30 years. You know, except for every few months, they mail you a photograph of the cherries not lining up, and that's not information, that's emotional vandalism with postage, right? And the phrase the market will always come back is, yeah, it's one of those things people say like the check is in the mail or HR is here to help. (21:13) You know what? Maybe it comes back. Yeah, maybe it comes back after you needed it. Maybe it comes back after you sold in a sweaty panic because the statement made your blood pressure sound like a marching band falling downstairs. You know what? That this is not a stock tip, okay? This is a kitchen table observation from a man who's watched Wall Street, burned the toast, blamed the toaster, and still collect a bonus, all right? Look, nobody's coming to save your retirement. Nobody was ever coming. The company was not coming. The government is not arguing with itself in a locked bathroom. The bank would charge your shadow for inactivity fee if it could get the paperwork through compliance, all right? So here's my opinion. Stop opening the statement like it owes you an apology. Quarterly checking turns a long-term problem into your four tiny heart attacks a year, okay? You don't need that. You know, back when the bills came in envelopes, we had the decency to run only one evening at a time. Then kept putting our money in it anyway, right? Every paycheck. Boring. Steady. Because the alternative is trusting somebody else to care about more about your old age than you do. And buddy, we've seen that movie, right? The theater was sticky, the ending was obvious, and somehow the popcorn cost nine dollars. So don't panic, okay? Panic is the only investment strategy guaranteed to lose money and dignity at the same time. Okay. Bobby, did you write that to yourself? Nearly. Let me tell you, I feel it. (22:49) All right, twitching by the mailbox, there's your response. If you missed any previous Ask Uncle Bobby episodes, you can find them all at our website, thebteamshow.com, or if you want all the past episodes and, you know, Christmas is just around the corner, it's time to start buying Christmas presents. That's right. How would you like your significant other to have Uncle Bobby on their shirt? That's right. Get your own exclusive Do Bob merch at DewBob.com. That's right. Turn all the ladies on with a big picture of my mug. Good luck. All right, hey, we're going to take a break, pay a couple bills. Dan Diamond's got local news coming up, and we'll do some Zeppelin here before the top of the hour on 100.3 KROCK. (23:32) Aerosmith on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 KROCK. Welcome to Hour Three of the B Team Morning Show. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell, brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub and Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. And if you have missed anything that Bobby and I have talked about so far this morning, you can find it all at thebteamshow.com, including the daily national holidays that we opened the first hour with, and of course, Ask Uncle Bobby last hour as well, all at thebteamshow.com. So get over there and check it out. Now, yesterday, Bobby, Republican gubernatorial nominee Byron Donalds campaigned across the panhandle as part of his Defending the Florida Dream bus tour ahead of next Tuesday's general election. Now, during a rally at Faith Independent Baptist Church in Niceville, Donalds joined Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ngoglia and local lawmakers to encourage conservative voters to support Republican candidates. He highlighted his priorities of reducing property insurance premiums by 20 percent, providing property tax relief for seniors and working families, and protecting school choice, including private schools, charter schools, and homeschooling. (25:01) Donalds also emphasized Florida's conservative values, public safety, family principles, and constitutional freedoms, while expressing confidence about his campaign. Now, other Republican officials urged supporters to remain politically engaged and increase voter turnout, warning that Democrats were making strong efforts to gain ground across the state. (25:21) The day continued with a stop at Eastern Shipbuilding Group over in Panama City, followed by planned campaign events in Leon County. So, Leon, that's Talley. Yeah, that's over there. (25:38) Don't know how much Republican support's over in Tallahassee. I would question it myself. Okay. All right. Best of luck to you. Best of luck to you. All right. But anyway, cool to have a potential new governor here in our neck of the woods yesterday. (25:57) All right, coming up in just a little bit, we'll talk about the new artificial reef known as the SS United States. We finally have a deployment date. We finally know when it's going to be sunk. Oh, yay. But I gotta tell you the thing, I've been sitting on the edge of my seat wondering about it. (26:17) Well, now you know what you're going to be doing next summer. You're going to be out there. Oh, yeah. Swimming the reef. Yep. Yeah, you caught me. Music from heart and heartless on 100.3 KROCK. The Classic Rock Station, it's the BT Morning Show, Schuyler Black and Bobby Durrell. So, we were talking in the last break that Okaloosa County officials have announced the date of the scheduled deployment for the SS United States as an artificial reef. And that will take place, allegedly, on November 12th. Okay. That is two weeks from this Thursday. Now, it's supposed to be sunk about 22 miles southwest of our area out in the Gulf. To celebrate the long history of the ship, the county will be hosting a public ceremony the day before the sendoff. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 11th at 1.30 at the convention center on the island. On the day of the deployment, there will be a live viewing party at AJ's on the island and a live feed will be shown on an outdoor screen. So, just wanted to pass that along. I know Bobby's over here, very excited about our county's $10 million investment in this. (27:33) Oh, yeah. Yeah. Boy, that was just, what a great way to spend money. Should we buy another one? Yeah, why not? Get two. Why not? Why not? You know, let's spend, you know, $10 million on something that, what, three, four hundred people could enjoy. Yeah, that makes total sense. (27:51) I wonder if they start doing BOGO deals on these at some point. Maybe they should. It's not your favorite investment, is it? You know, yeah. I don't want to get started. I really don't. (28:09) Okay. Schuyler's just going to divert now. Yeah. Well, I mean, you know, it's just, it's the same thing again, as always. I mean, yeah. We build this pool of money and then how is it really being reinvested? I get that 20 years ago, right, somebody did some nefarious crap with the TDC money and so we got to protect against that. But now it's a walled off garden. We don't reinvest in local media. We don't reinvest in anything. I mean, we take the money, the money that gets spent on media and we send it up to New York. We send it out of this town. I mean, we just spent $10 million on a vessel. How much of that money went back into this community trying to get that vessel done and how much went to the city of Mobile? For sitting over there at their port for two years? Right. At their dockage for two years. I mean, it just, I'm sorry, man. I just, I just have a problem with it. Yeah. I hear you loud and clear. I get it. (29:17) Music from Joan Jett on 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station. It's 844, Schuyler Black and Bobby Durrell. A Florida man hit his roommate with a bag of ice cream. (29:41) That's because the victim's belongings were taking up too much room in an Uber that they were sharing. Now, two of them went shopping at Walmart and bought several large plants that they tried to put in the Uber. The two started arguing over space in the Uber and the man hit his roommate in the face with ice cream. The victim. (29:59) Deserved it. Yeah, sounds like it. The victim called the police after getting hit and said his roommate was mad at him over the lack of space. The suspect was arrested and charged with battery on a person 65 years or older. (30:18) There's your Florida man story for this morning. I don't know who's worse, the one that hit the old guy that hit the other old guy with the ice cream, or the other old guy that just called crying to his mommy. Think they're losers? Yeah. (30:35) It's the B Team Morning Show, and folks, if you have noticed it's getting more and more expensive down at home, well, you're not alone. It is getting a lot more expensive. A new analysis finds that the typical home improvement project now costs 76% more than it did just a decade ago, even after adjusting for inflation. (30:59) The median project cost jumped from $1,200 in 2015 to more than $2,100 last year. So how can homeowners save money? Well, experts recommend handling small repairs yourself, keeping your gutters clean to prevent water damage, and replacing aging appliances before they break down unexpectedly. (31:18) They also suggest setting aside at least $120 a month for maintenance, paying cash instead of using credit cards to avoid interest charges, and saving receipts for major home improvements that could help reduce taxes when you eventually sell. But yeah, everything is more expensive, folks. (31:34) It's been probably the most expensive 10 years in a long time. I would say so. All right. Hey, we're the B Team Morning Show.
