National Be Somebody Day: How a Tropical Storm, a Tug-of-War & Lunch Monkeys Taught Us to Stop Drifting
Description
We spent the morning fumbling passwords, dodging tropical storms that can't commit, and debating whether you're legally allowed to expense-report a monkey—turns out National Take a Monkey to Lunch Day is real, and so is our confusion about Tom's login credentials (thanks, Bobby).

Schuyler Black and bench-warmer Tom Mason kicked off another glorious Tuesday on 100.3 KROCK, Fort Walton Beach's classic rock station, broadcasting live from the Emerald Coast—because nothing says "tropical storm preparedness" quite like two guys fumbling through password resets and questioning their life choices. Bobby Dewrell, the station's resident IT gremlin and part-time chaos agent, was MIA all week (possibly next week too), leaving Tom locked out of every system known to man. Naturally, we blamed Bobby. It's easier that way.
We kicked things off with a parade of absurd national holidays: National Be Somebody Day (a 24-hour permission slip to stop drifting through life like a human screensaver), National Tug-of-War Tournament Day (because nothing says "Tuesday" like dragging strangers through the mud), and Legal Drinking Age Day (happy 21st to anyone born July 21, 2005—yes, that hurts). Oh, and Take a Monkey to Lunch Day, which is exactly what it sounds like: scheduling nonsense on purpose, like a dentist appointment for your ego. We workshopped logistics—where do you even get a monkey? The Gulf Breeze Zoo? Tomcat Custom Apparel? A picnic with a stolen primate? The options are endless.
Weather-wise, Tropical Storm Bertha was loitering about 120 miles south of us, looking less like a storm and more like a participation trophy with a name. The north side? Completely eroded by dry air and shear. The south side? Hammering fish and sharks with rain they didn't ask for. We're under a tropical storm watch, expecting breezy winds (gusts to 30), maybe some scattered showers, but nothing apocalyptic—despite the Weather Channel's best efforts to dramatize it into Category 9 hysteria. High of 88, humidity unseasonably low, and the Destin Dome apparently still undefeated.
Local news: Four Emerald Coast restaurants—Bitterroot in Destin, Day Trader Tiki Bar in Seaside, Rue 30A in Grayton Beach, and Evie Mae's Barbecue in Miramar Beach—earned Michelin Recommended status in the 2026 guide. Congrats to them for surviving the cutthroat restaurant biz long enough to get a plaque. Also, Walton County Sheriff's Office is still hunting for 38-year-old Isabel Johnson, wanted for murder, with an $11,000 reward on her head. She's considered dangerous, possibly using multiple identities, and has ties to Freeport and Georgia. Call it in if you see her. Meanwhile, a woman in Washington attacked her mom with a gardening handsaw while completely naked, then led cops on a chase. Drugs? Nah, totally sober. Sure.
Events this week: Fireworks on Okaloosa Island Wednesday at 9 p.m., Luau Night at the pier every Thursday in July, and this Saturday, the All Sports Association Golf Tournament at Emerald Bay (benefiting Boys & Girls Club, Special Olympics, and more) plus the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center School Supply Drive at Executive Air, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring donations, get free hot dogs. It's a trade. High school football scrimmages start August 14th—catch Choctaw on 94.3 FTW and Niceville Eagles on 103.7 FTW all season long. And because Bobby's not here, we still delivered Ask Uncle Bobby, courtesy of sponsor Tomcat Custom Apparel, reminding you: corporate brown-nosing isn't kissing up—it's brand alignment. Circle back on that. Stay tuned, stay irreverent, and keep it locked to KROCK.

(00:00) Here's today's B Team Redux. And screwing with them. Yeah, this guy. Yeah, this guy we call Brandon Brandon Chicken corndog missile Bobby yeah, we're talking about you that guy that guy. What did you do to Tom's log-in? (00:55) Yeah, I can't get into anything Nothing works And it must have been something he did at some point And he didn't tell me about it because otherwise I would have made an adjustment. You know, it's on him Oh, I know. I know we all know that. Yeah Hey, good morning everybody in all seriousness The B Team morning shows on the air scatter black and Tom Mason number one bench warmer filling in the rest of the week and I Don't know Monday, maybe Tuesday next week to really is it gonna go on that long last when I talked to him yesterday Alright, I don't know. We'll be back Monday. I may take Tuesday off to Mike He's gonna put everybody through that for that long. Yeah. Yeah All right. I see it as a blessing. I I Mean it's all in your own perspective, but I'm gonna take that as a win. Yeah, you should you should that was a compliment to you I am I'm gonna take that as a win. Yeah, or it's 78 degrees here in Fort Walton Beach and apparently 120 miles south of here. There's a tropical storm, but what a joke. Yeah, that's kind of blowing apart as it It starts to build and rain. You just can't get anywhere. Yeah, I know kind of like Bobby Yeah, it's like the tropical storm and Bobby have something in common, yeah It's gonna be a great week. Yeah. Yeah, just a just a windbag See what you can do We're gonna see a high today of 88 degrees and now we we technically are under a tropical storm watch Maybe some some minor Storm surge possible the next day and a half or so something we'll keep an eye on but right now like all of the All the storms all the rainfall with this thing Are pretty much like the south of the south of the center of the low. Yeah, so The fish and the sharks are getting plenty of rain right now. That's right. Yeah, they need it too. Yeah Yeah, but here in human civilization. Yeah, not not so much a thing right now No, it was actually kind of nice coming in today. Yeah, it really was and the thing that I've noticed the last few days is Our humidity has been unseasonably low. Yeah But it's been hot man. It's been it's been hot. Yeah, I'll give you that. Yeah But I actually, you know last night it was what 90 degrees or whatever Yeah, I went for a nice three-mile walk last night didn't hardly sweat at all. Really? Yeah good for you It was like a it was like a California heat. It was uh, yeah, it was West Coast very West Coast like, huh? (03:46) Uh-huh, Arizona, Nevada, and I wouldn't go that far. Yeah Not that dry. No, not that dry I've lived there. I Do like that dry. It doesn't it does feel like it when comparatively, you know to what we're used to but yeah That's yeah air temperature gets so much higher than ours does too. It does. Yeah, I mean We we cry around here when the air temps at 95 and they're like, you know 115 is a regular thing Yeah, I used to I used to say, you know, it was I still do the you know What especially when the wind is blowing, you know, at least here you get a little bit of cooling effect there It's like somebody's got a blow-dryer. Exactly. Exactly. It's just like it's like being in It's like being in an air fryer. Yeah Right. Yeah. Yeah heat in Hot air. Yeah blowing around right right in your face. Uh-huh. Like we were talking about windbags, right? Yeah Blow hard isn't that funny how that works out like it's a big circle. Yeah all of this Yeah, and it's so funny because that works into our first national holiday We have to talk about right national national be somebody day national be somebody day Yeah, it's a holiday for people who needed a calendar reminder to stop being a human screensaver Bobby National be somebody day is that annual little reminder that you yes You are allowed to be more than a walking password reset at a bundle of unpaid ambitions The premise is simple pick a direction claim a name for yourself and act like you mean it Preferably before life assigns you guy who always said he was gonna It's not about becoming famous or enlightened or whatever motivational poster nonsense people sell next to scented candles It's about choosing a version of you that doesn't make your future self gag Consider it a 24-hour permission slip to stop drifting and start steering Even if the steering wheel is loose and the dashboard lights been on since 2017. That's right be somebody Actually, you know, that was the that was the perfect holiday to start out with considering the challenges We've endured in the first 15 minutes this morning. It has been starting off. We're starting off good, but we're on a good roll We're moving forward right? Hey, if anybody out there listening this morning has Bobby's personal cell phone. Yeah, just text him this message Question what did you even do? (06:11) From the Beatles on the classic rock station 100 point 3k Rock It's the B Team morning shows gather black and bench warmer Tom Mason on the air with you Not only today, but all week long and part of next week. Yeah, and I'm I'm flying handicapped here You know, right because Bobby changed something. Yeah, something changed and I can't I I can't access anything I'm just I'm lost. I Don't know why he does that stuff. I know I know some something he did something It's just one of these one of the System mentality these IT guys, right? Yeah, you know, they all think that they're making everyone's lives easier, right? (06:54) Right. I'm gonna I'm gonna change your password for you and it's gonna be 88 characters and they're and it's gonna vary all over The place. Oh, yeah, you're in dollar sign upside down carrot Ampersand don't write this down though, right? (07:10) Don't Write this down. I don't want somebody to access if Bobby came up with that I that that you know weird password that you always have to that's 55 characters long when you first start Yeah, knowing him. He probably threw in some like eggplant emojis Well today on the National Day calendar folks we have a second day to talk about it's It's National tug-of-war tournament day, that's a thing, huh? It is a thing. Yeah National tug-of-war tournament day It's the only sport where grown adults measure success by how many strangers they can drag into the mud now I could see doing like politics. Yeah, I could see doing this on a Saturday or a Sunday, you know, okay We're just gonna do it a little tug-of-war here tournament. Yeah, but on a Tuesday What? (08:05) You don't have a job You just go out and just every day is a Saturday tournament. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Okay. I missed out on that memo. I See a lot of people around this neighborhood that don't have jobs They could Imagine the chaos of that National tug-of-war tournament day is the beautiful Little calendar glitch where grown adults agree The best way to prove character is to grab a rope and ruin their lower backs in public Team show up with matching shirts from Tomcat custom apparel Matching confidence from Uncle Bobby's advice and wildly mismatched life decisions from Uncle Bobby All convinced physics is negotiable if you yell loud enough So it's part sport part group therapy part lawsuit waiting to happen And somehow the rope always smells like regret and hand sanitizer Well stick around because once the polling starts everybody learns exactly who they are when the muds flying and the quittin looks like the only smart option It's easier just to give up right away. You just get pulled through the mud. Yeah, just bring the white flag with you Pull it out Now your back pocket you brought up a good point about you know some of the people that don't have jobs around here. Mm-hmm having that tug-of-war tournament drag him through the maybe it's not mud. Maybe some clean water might that might help Favor of group showers Anything don't prove the smell God Almighty Lord help us here. We go and good Lord. Please forgive us. It's a B team morning Brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas at Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (10:04) A high today of 88 degrees. We're going to take a break. Dan Diamond is here. I just saw him walk in about 15 minutes ago, so I'm figuring he's probably putting news together this morning. So there's some intelligence in the building, is what you're saying. Oh, well, with you here, the IQ average went up alone. I thought you were going to say it went down. No, I wouldn't talk that way about you, Tom. All right, quick break. Look at your marine forecast. Is coming up next on 100.3 KROCK. Consult your doctor if that's the case. You've got to burn it. Penicillin might help. You need to get some medicine. (10:45) Penicillin, not penicillin. Penicillin. Well, for some people. 637 is the time. Good morning, you're waking up to clear skies here in Fort Walton, 78 degrees and tropical storm watch. (11:03) Yeah, tropical storm Bertha. What, about 120 miles due south of us right now? Yeah. Out in the Gulf. Probably will be a breezy day. Wind gusts, 30-ish. You might see some periods of some showers and thunderstorms, but the north side of this storm has been just completely eroded away by sheer and dry air. South side of the storm, out in the Gulf. Yeah, it's lots of showers and thunderstorms, plenty of strong convection, but north half of the storm, it's just pretty much, it's just not there. You got some feeder bands. We're going to see some periods of showers and thunderstorms today, but that widespread two to three days of rainfall that you would expect with a tropical storm or a hurricane, not happening here. (11:55) Not happening here. Not with this one. Not with this guy. And if you take a look at the radar here, Bertha, have you seen that meme of the farmer out in his field with his overalls on and said, it ain't much, but it's honest work? That's kind of what this thing looks like, too. It's got a name. Yeah. It ain't much. It's honest work, but it's sure in the hell isn't a work of art. I can tell you that. It's not one of the prettier ones, is it? (12:25) No, it's not. It's pretty tore up. Not much to look at. Kind of like that guy that's running for, is it Congress or Senate in Maine? Oh, Ashley? Ashley. The tranny? Yeah. Kind of an annoyance. Exactly. You don't really expect anything out of it, but it's there. It exists. (12:52) Heavy emphasis on it. What an interesting scenario to see somebody up there like that running. I mean, good on him. I just wish there was some substance to whatever. Is he he or she? Which one? Male that's transitioning to female. Really? Yeah. And they asked, well, what qualifies you for Senate? Yeah. I wrote a kid's book. I write songs. Good. Thanks. (13:25) We'll move forward. And we're going to move forward here in this show, too, because we have another national holiday to discuss this morning. We do. This one is Legal Drinking Age Day. Oh, cool. This is something we celebrate down here in the Bible Belt. Legal Drinking Age Day, the one day a fake I.D. cries in the shower while Congress pretends a number magically turns idiots into connoisseurs. Legal Drinking Age Day is the annual little checkpoint where society pretends a number on your driver's license magically turns you from a liability into a responsible adult who can be trusted with fermented sugar and bad decisions. Now, it's not a celebration of maturity. It's more a ceremonial unlocking of new consequences with a side of overpriced shots and group photos nobody asked for. I know what those are like. You're not honoring freedom. You're honoring the state's timeline for how fast you're allowed to ruin tomorrow. And if you think this day is about partying, congratulations. You've already understood the curriculum. Let's see. If you were born on July 21, 2005, really, you can have your first legal drink today. Oh, my gosh. Wow. (14:54) 2005. That makes me feel old. Thanks. Thanks, Schuyler. Thanks for doing that to me. Sorry, that does kind of hurt. It does, yeah. 2005. That hurts. Man. Man. It should be like 1972 or something like that. Yeah, you got to be at least 55. I'm afraid that most of us would be breaking the law long before that. I wish it was much, much earlier, to be honest. 21 months? It's the B Team Morning Show, Schuyler Black and Tom Mason on 100.3 KROCK, because ACDC at 642 just seems fitting. It's a great intro, man. In the boys' room, Motley Crue on the classic rock station, 100.3 KROCK. Now, speaking of smoking, didn't they change the legal tobacco age to 21 now? If they did, I didn't get that. I didn't get that memo. What is the legal age of purchasing tobacco products? Wow, they moved it to 21. Really? Yeah. You think that's bad? I mean, I've never been a user of tobacco products, but I may have been a third-party purchaser when I was 18 for folks that were sub-18. You're a pusher. (16:37) Yeah. You're one of those guys. I was like Instacart before Instacart. I never used tobacco products. I never bought them. I'm probably like everybody else. At some point, I tried them, but I couldn't stand them. I just don't like the smell. My parents were heavy smokers. (17:04) My dad was. I could not stand it. I get it. Totally get it. It's funny because I have four brothers and sisters, and all of them smoked at one point. Really? Yeah. I'm the only one that didn't smoke. They all hid it from me, except my older sister. She was eight years older than me, so she didn't. But they all did. They all hid it from me. It was amazing. (17:32) I wonder why. I have no idea. Like I was the guy. I have no idea why. It's just funny. That's strange. They all sort of hid it from me in one way or another for a long time. That's strange. It's the B Team Morning Show. Schuyler Black and Bench Warmer Tom Mason on the air this beautiful Wednesday morning. It could be a little breezy. It could be a little bumpy at times here in Fort Walton today with that Big Bertha down there in the Gulf, 120 miles south of us. But quite honestly, there's not going to be a whole lot of rainfall with this system. It'll be breezy the next couple of days. Maybe gusty at times as well. (18:13) Blustery. That's why you should have somebody to hold onto when you're going out to lunch or doing anything. An anchor. Because of the blustery, breezy thing. You should have an anchor. Blustery. All I can think of is Winnie the Pooh and piglet in the 100-acre wood. Blustery day. All right, Tom. We've got one more national holiday that we need to talk about this morning. We do. This kind of goes along with what I was saying about having an anchor. This is take a monkey to lunch day. There's your anchor. Take a monkey to lunch day. Right. Yeah. Because nothing says adulting like paying for a meal while your date throws it and screams at strangers. I didn't. It's take a monkey. Not take a Karen to lunch day. No. Is this a thing? Yeah. Apparently it is. Take a monkey to lunch day. (19:07) It's a rare holiday that stares you dead in the eye and dares you to pretend that this is normal. The premise is simple. You take a monkey to lunch. Real. Symbolic. Imaginary. Whatever keeps you out of court. And you let that little chaos gremlin remind you how thin the line is between civilized adult and the person who ate fries off a stranger's plate. (19:30) It's not about primates. Not really. It's about choosing one day a year to schedule nonsense on purpose like a dentist appointment for your ego. And if you're already thinking about logistics, well, congratulations. You're the reason the monkey's coming. So there's so many things that have to come together in order for this to happen. First of all, you've got to have a monkey. True. Without the monkey, there is no take a monkey to lunch day. That's right. So you've got to start there. You've got to have a monkey. (19:59) A monkey, you got to have the means to have a monkey, um, and then you got to find a place that's going to let the monkey come in. So I, yeah, got a couple of zoos around here. You just go steal a monkey. Yeah. I mean, you got, you got the Emerald coast zoo up in Crestview. (20:18) You've got the, uh, Gulf breeze zoo out there on the other side of the bar. Right. You've got byTomCat custom apparel. There's monkeys there. That's for sure. Plenty of options. Just bring the food. Yeah. (20:34) Doesn't mean it has to be a restaurant. I guess that's true. Could be a little picnic. Yeah, that's true. You could be, just be having a picnic somewhere. Okay. I got that. Right. Um, that's expanding my horizons right there. Cause I was a little thinking you got to have a restaurant to go to. Yeah. I mean, there's like, there's, there's restaurants and coffee shops out there. (20:51) Like those cat cafes that have the caps, the cats that are, you know, up for adoption and serve food and beverage there. But they have so many regulations. You're just better off doing a picnic. Yeah. It's, I can't see taking a cat anywhere like that. Well, you don't take the cats there. (21:08) Yeah. The cats are already there. Oh, are they? Yeah. Oh, so that's a good reason to avoid that then. Yeah. Well, tell that to my wife. Good luck with that. Rush and the song. (21:24) Oh, Tom Sawyer. Okay. Not, not Russians. I thought it was Russian something. How do you sound like a Democrat? Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia, Trump, conspiracy. All right, exactly. Throw that in there. Calm down, Nancy. (21:39) 78 degrees, clear skies here in Fort Walton this morning, a high today of 88. Now we are expecting periodic showers and thunderstorms today, especially closer towards the lunch hour. Yeah. And this afternoon. (21:55) Okay. It's going to be breezy. Winds are going to be kind of sustained. Uh, out of the East, uh, around 20 guesting 30, maybe a little bit more with a tropical storm Bertha big Bertha out there in the, uh, out there in the Gulf, but again, that, that Northern half of Bertha virtually has like. (22:16) Minimal convection of any rainfall and thunderstorm activity because it's dealing with dry air here. I know dry air in Florida, but it's dealing with dry, dry air here out of, uh, out of the deep South and, uh, and a lot of Northern wind that's kind of, uh, eroding away some of those showers and thunderstorms. (22:36) Dry air is relative, you know, to what? Yeah. I mean, Phoenix would be sweltering right now with sopping wet, but, uh, by, by Florida standards, this is like a nosebleed weather. (22:52) This is dry air, man. Yeah. This is nosebleed. My lips are chapped. Nose is bleeding. This is bad. Yeah. It's it's rough. That's why you need your lunch monkey. Yeah, exactly. Take your, take, take a monkey to lunch day. That's right. And that's the deal. Yeah. (23:08) And it's funny you mentioned that Tom, because, uh, for four local Emerald coast restaurants got, uh, named to the Michelin guide in 2026. So I wonder if they'll allow any monkeys in their establishments. We'll get to that story in just a little bit. Okay. Um, plus yeah. (23:25) Uh, Walton County and, uh, Florida Sheriff's association is still looking for, uh, for that gal that's well wanted for murder in Walton County. Yeah. Reward totaling $11,000 is now being offered, uh, with the Florida Sheriff's association, Walton County Sheriff's office in the Emerald coast crime stoppers. (23:49) So we'll get to that story in just a little bit. And apparently a Morgan Wallen fan says that a man peed on his family during the show in Baltimore this last weekend. What? Yeah. Oh man. I know that's not right. (24:05) No, it's not. It's not. So we've got plenty of stories that we're going to get to here in just a little bit, plus local events that we need to talk about, uh, tomorrow night, fireworks back out on the island at the pier fireworks on the beach every Wednesday night in the month of July. (24:23) And of course, Thursday night, Luau night out at the pier as well, because nothing says, uh, Hawaii quite like the Florida panhandle. Have you ever gotten to one of those? I have not. I mean, they look kind of fun from the pictures that I've seen at all. Yeah. Uh, but that starts, uh, some Thursday evenings, Luau nights at the pier, live music, Luau themed games, face painting, balloon animals, and other free kids activities. (24:47) Plus they're going to have, uh, prizes and fire dancers there. So it should be kind of fun, but, uh, they do that every Thursday night out at the pier on Okaloosa Island. Plus we've got a couple events coming up this weekend, including the all sports association, golf tournament and the school supply drive. (25:03) There's so much to talk about here this next hour. So stay with us. And just because Bobby's not here doesn't mean the wisdom goes away. No, we do have ask uncle Bobby coming up sometime in the final quarter of the hour. Sometime. (25:19) Yeah. We usually say seven 45, but it's never seven 45. It's always like seven 47, seven 48. So we'll get to it sometime in that it's an ish. Yeah. It's an ish. That's what it is. Yeah. It's The B Team morning show. Schuyler black and Tom Mason on a Tuesday morning. (25:35) Beautiful sunshine here in Fort Walton, The B Team show brought to you by stripes pub and grill in Navarre, Okaloosa gas and outcast sushi in Miramar beach on 100.3 KROCK here's deep purple, 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station at seven 22, beautiful sunshine here in South Okaloosa County on this Tuesday morning. (25:58) Schuyler black and Tom Mason on the air. Of course, uh, The B Team show brought to you by stripes pub and grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa gas and outcast sushi in Miramar beach. Where did my weather page go? It was right there. And then all of a sudden it just gone. (26:13) I don't know. You're fumbling around, fumbling around. And I, yeah, I'm not in charge of that. You're not, no, this isn't a touchscreen. This is, and, and let's just say it right now. Bobby has nothing to do with this right now. Right. Or does he? Uh, well, I mean, you think he sabotaged me? (26:31) What could have been? Yeah, but that would be a win for him. So let's not give him, I'm going to put on my foil hat. That's the story I'm sticking with. He sabotaged you. Yeah. Yeah. He has it out for me. Do we have foil hats? You could probably make one in the break room. (26:48) Oh, I'm sure we could. Yeah. You should have one handy all the time. Just never know when you might need it. That's right. You blink and they get you. Make sure you wear one during a thunderstorm. 79 degrees right now. A high today of 89 showers and thunderstorms going to be possible later on in the morning and just take it a quick glance at the radar. (27:09) We're seeing some feeder bands, uh, from Bertha right now, uh, feeder bands kind of starting to come into the listening area just a bit on the, on the East side, uh, of Walton County, uh, most of the rainfall right now, still out in the Gulf. (27:29) But, uh, if we look off to our Northeast, East of Appalachia, Perry, Tallahassee there, they're about to get hammered over there. Yeah. Yeah. They got some stuff moving in. It's pretty bad, but, uh, here in the Western panhandle, things are beautiful this morning. And again, we'll see some on and off showers and thunderstorms the next couple of days. (27:47) That's expected with this, uh, uh, rather weak tropical storm Bertha, but, uh, just something to, uh, to keep an eye on here the next few mornings. Is it the dome? Is it the dome that's protecting us? The Destin Dome? The Destin Dome. Is it protecting us? (28:02) Is that really going on? It may be, you know, we were out at the, uh, at the sky bar at the edge on Sunday afternoon. Yeah. And, uh, Fort Walton, it was, it was drizzling and rainy that morning. Yeah. And we got over that bridge, man. It was beautiful. (28:18) Really? Yeah. I don't know how they do it. I don't know how they do it. I have no idea. It's the strangest thing, but it works, right? It does work. Yeah. It does work. Well, well, there is a reward totaling $11,000. (28:34) That's now being offered for information leading to the arrest of a woman accused of murder. As law enforcement agencies across three states now continue searching for the Florida Sheriff's association, criminal apprehension assistance program. That is a mouthful. Say that five times fast, Florida, Florida Sheriff's association, criminal apprehension assistance program. (28:56) You get credit for one. Partnered with the Walton County Sheriff's office and the Emerald coast CrimeStoppers, uh, to offer a reward for information that leads to the location and capture of Isabel Johnson, who was 38 years of age and is wanted on an open count of murder in the death of Jason Christopher Coulthard 43. (29:17) Okay. Uh, the reward includes $6,000 from the Emerald coast CrimeStoppers and $5,000. From the Florida Sheriff's association, criminal apprehension assistance program said it again, Tom, you did. Now Coulthard was reported missing to the Niceville police department back on May 24th, after he was seen leaving the college condominiums on East college Boulevard, according to authorities detectives with the Niceville police department developed information during their missing person investigation, identifying a property off sunset lane in Freeport where Coulthard's body had allegedly been buried. (29:55) Niceville police notified the Walton County Sheriff's office, which has jurisdiction. that property. A search warrant was approved by the Walton County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Bureau on June 25th, and investigators later discovered human remains buried in a shallow grave on the property. District 1 Medical Examiner's Office responded to assist with the investigation, and DNA testing later confirmed the remains belong to Coulthard. (30:22) Now, this is not the news that they had hoped to deliver to the Niceville community, said Niceville Police Chief Mark Hayes after the identification was confirmed, and they said that we stand with Jason's family and will continue working with our partners to see this case through. Now, the investigation's first arrest on this case came shortly after the remains were discovered. Bobby Wagstaff, 31, of Sunset Lane, was arrested and charged with accessory to capital murder after the fact, possession of meth, and since the investigation began, five people have been arrested in connection with the case, including Michael Ray White, Kathleen Morris, and Martin and Sandra Leverton, both 63, of Fort Walton Beach. (31:08) Wow. But multiple law enforcement agencies across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama are currently and actively searching for the 38-year-old woman. Johnson remains at large and is considered dangerous, according to investigators. Authorities describe Johnson as a white female, approximately 5'3", about 120 pounds, with brown hair, hazel eyes, and investigators say she has ties to the Freeport area and Georgia and may be using multiple identities to avoid capture. (31:41) Yeah. What a sad story, man. So, they have upped the reward to find her to 11 grand. Wow. So, anyway, wanted to pass that story along. I know it's been circulating around the news the last few days, but again, that reward has been added up, so. You know, it seems like there's always something else involved, you know, in this case, possibly drugs or, you know, whatever, whatever was the factor that tied them all together. Other nefarious activity. Yeah, yeah, exactly, and it's just so sad that people aren't, you know, I don't want to say smart enough, but just aware enough to understand that, man, those things can turn deadly or turn bad so quickly, you know, those types of activities. It's really unfortunate. Think about the company you keep. Exactly, exactly. But, again, they're already making poor decisions in the first place. Yeah, yeah. All right, 729, we'll take a break, pay a couple bills. On the way, music from Def Leppard, Tom Petty, Sammy Hagar, and, of course, just because he's not here doesn't mean we can't hear from him. Ask Uncle Bobby. We're going to hear from him. In about 20 minutes. Yeah, it's a B Team morning show on 100.3 KROCK. I'm Omni Broadcasting Meteorologist Jennifer Wojcicki with your updated forecast. A tropical storm watch and coastal flood advisory remain in effect. A high surf advisory begins at 7 a.m. today. Storms likely today, otherwise sunshine mixed with clouds at times. Highs level off around 88. East winds 10 to 20 miles per hour. (33:18) Mainly cloudy tonight. Thunderstorms likely 78. I'm Omni Broadcasting's Meteorologist Jennifer Wojcicki. Ever wonder what's really in your tap water? Beautiful morning here in Fort Walton. Now, if you're a shark about 120 miles south of here, you may be dealing with some churned up waters and showers and thunderstorms this morning. But, well, here in Fort Walton, a different story. (33:46) Beautiful sunshine. Actually, I'm looking out the window right now. It looks like it's clouded up here in the last 20 minutes or so. It's a hurricane. Hurricane Category 9. Category 9, yeah. According to Mike's weather page, that's what we've got. (34:01) Got to make sure we sensationalize everything. If you watch the weather channel, it's like, oh my gosh, it's the end of the world. I know. I know. I went home at lunch yesterday for like an hour, and I'm like, oh, let's just flip on the weather channel. Yeah. Oh my god. (34:19) Yeah. We had the Emergency Management Coordinator talking with some reporter in Panama City, and this is going to be awful. Yeah. It's like, yeah, we're looking at yellow, maybe red flags. Maybe. Maybe. Let's just calm down here. Right. Right. Take a chill pill. Just got to make it seem so dramatic and so bad. And I wonder, like, is the weather channel fighting for viewership harder than they ever have now because weather is available on your fingertips? Everywhere. Yeah. (34:57) I'm sure it is. I'm sure that's what it is. Let's sensationalize it. Let's make it bigger than it is. Let's dramatize. Dramatize? Is that a word? I don't know. We don't have thesaurus body here. (35:12) Do we have a listener out there that can comment on this, the chat room or something like that? No, nothing like that? Do we have a listener, period? That's the real question. We have one. We have one because I got a text message. Oh, really? Okay. So we got at least one. Okay. Yeah. All right. Maybe he knows. (35:30) This is wild. Garbage trucks could soon do more than collect trash. Really? Yeah. They may also help identify code violations using artificial intelligence. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. This is going on down in Cape Coral. Wow. Officials in Cape Coral, Florida recently considered equipping sanitation trucks with AI-powered cameras that would photograph properties as crews complete their normal collection routes. Ultimately, the cost was too high, so they scrapped the idea, but the system would have been designed to identify potential issues, such as overgrown lawns, peeling paint, and illegal dumping, and to flag violations so the city staff can review them for review them later before taking enforcement action. (36:15) Is that where we need to be? A complete police society where we're just monitoring every move everybody does, and you didn't mow your lawn this week. Come on. We need to spend money on that? Really? Well, obviously not, but- They didn't end up doing it. (36:34) The fact that they thought about it is disturbing. Cape Coral, Florida. Right. Just the very fact that they thought that this is something that we could potentially bring in and do is disturbing. Well, and these flock cameras here have been such a polarizing topic the last year or so. Oh, yeah. Well, I've gotten nailed by them twice. (36:57) Yeah, I've gotten nailed by the Fort Walton. Well, I've gotten nailed by them twice. Yeah, I've gotten nailed by the Fort Walton cameras in the school zones twice. That's the ones, yeah. Yeah, I've gotten twice they've got me on that. And excuse me, the one time I went in to pay it and they couldn't take my payment because the system showed that I had paid it already. Therefore, when the lady tried to take my payment, it wouldn't let her take it. So I finally had to get a letter from her stating that, hey, the customer couldn't pay this because of this. Just because I was worried about them coming back at me and saying, hey, you didn't pay your ticket. You need to, you know, there's a warrant out for your arrest. (37:40) So good Lord. Yeah. So it's just a complete mess. And, you know, they need to get these things fixed before they start using them. By Tomcat Custom Apparel. By Tomcat Custom Apparel, reminding you that if your business is going to be a festival this summer, well, your logo ought to be there too. Yeah. Tomcat can help. That's right. Today, Uncle Bobby, you hear from the Clive KPI Whisperer. Dear Uncle Bobby, people at my company keep brown nosing the boss and it seems to work. How do they do it? And how far should someone take it if they want to get ahead? Look, corporate brown nosing is not kissing up. Okay. No, it's brand alignment. See, it's turning your soul into a company lanyard and wearing it like it came with dental benefits. Okay. See, the amateurs think it starts with compliments and that's wrong. Compliments are cheap. Anybody can say great point. (38:44) You need to make the boss feel like their existence is a quarterly initiative. See, it begins with a strategic accidental run-in. You don't bump into the boss. You materialize near them like an email they forgot to delete. Same hallway, same elevator, same coffee machine. (39:02) And every time, you act surprised. Like fate itself booked the meeting. Then you laugh at their jokes like your paycheck depends on it because it does. And look, not a normal laugh either. Okay. A laugh that says I have been spiritually improved by this punchline. (39:20) Then you got to escalate. See, you start using the boss's favorite phrases in daily conversation. If they once said circle back, well, you circle back on dinner plans. You circle back on your mother. You circle back on gravity. You become a walking corporate echo, the kind that makes other employees feel like they accidentally joined a cult that worships PowerPoint. Okay. (39:45) Now, next level is pre-approval worship. See, you praise decisions the boss has not made yet. You compliment their instincts while they're still thinking. You nod before they finish sentences. And if they pause, you cheer. Treat it like a keynote. (40:01) Eventually, they will start believing you are not a person, but a mirror that pays taxes. And how far should you take it? Well, farther than your dignity can swim. Because see, look, the end game is simple. You've got to become so aggressively agreeable that the boss cannot tell where their thoughts end and you begin. (40:21) And at that point, you are not an employee. You're an accessory. And accessories get promoted because nobody wants to lose their favorite lucky charm. All right. Well, there's your response this morning. Clive KPI Whisperer. (40:39) Of course, if you missed today's Uncle Bobby or any previous Uncle Bobby episodes, you can find them all online at thebteamshow.com or go to dewbob.com, D-E-W-B-O-B.com. That whole team back there is just go, go. They're putting stuff together, throwing it at us, and, you know. (41:46) Oh, the interns? Yes. Yeah, yeah, they're a hell of a team. Yeah. We're so lucky. They're back there right now, ginning up the next break. What the hell did they have prepared for this break, then? (42:02) Beedoo, beedoo, beedoo. You hear? Good morning, everybody. It is the BT Morning Show, just after eight o'clock, brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (42:21) Lots of events coming up this week. Of course, tomorrow, fireworks out there on the pier at 9 p.m. Thursday is the Luau Night, every Thursday in July, Luau Night out there at the boardwalk and the pier on Okaloosa Island. (42:36) But coming up this weekend, couple big local events. The annual All Sports Association Golf Tournament is going on out at Emerald Bay in Destin. And this is a great local event that, you know, helps and supports organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast, Special Olympics of Florida, the Eleanor J. Johnson Youth Center, Okaloosa Walton FCA, and so many more. (43:04) And there's still some room for a couple teams, Tom. Yeah, they've got a great event that they put on out there. It's really neat. Registration's set for eight o'clock Saturday morning. Shotguns start at nine. If you'd like more details, we've got them for you on the events tab at thebteamshow.com. (43:21) Also this Saturday, Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center School Supply Drive, because yes, it's that time. We're about, what, two and a half, three weeks out from the start of school again. Amazing. I know it, I know it. And the Florida Sales Tax Holiday is underway now. (43:37) So if you want to swing by, pick up some school supplies. They're looking for glue, erasers, pens, pencils, notebooks, scissors, highlighters, things of that sort. Stop on by, drop off your donation at Executive Air. (43:53) Their location at 106 Perry Avenue, right here in Fort Walton Beach this Saturday from 11 to 1. And of course, the host of the event, Executive Air and Mid-South Bank, are going to be supplying some lunch as well. So you can get yourself a hot dog and a bag of chips. (44:08) Nice. All for a donation. You bring the donation, they bring the wieners. That's wonderful. Yeah. We call that trading around here. I was going to say, that's a pretty risque. Also, we are just a few weeks out from the start. (44:26) We mentioned school, but high school football, I think the 14th of August is going to be the first scrimmage games for a lot of these high school teams. 14th of August, right around the corner. (44:42) Three weeks from this Friday. And the scrimmage games are the internal games, am I correct? Some of them play scrimmages against each other. Other times, you'll have two different schools that will actually play an exhibition game. (44:59) Doesn't count towards the season record, but an opportunity to tune up against a competition outside of your own roster before the season starts. But we're going to carry Choctaw High School football for you, play by play, over on Sister Station, 94.3 FTW, all season long. (45:18) And then, of course, we're going to carry the Niceville Eagles, play by play, home and away, all season long, on Sister Station, 103.7 FTW. The ticket. OK, good. Yeah, got lots of high school football going on. But online, we've got the full listing of various high school schedules for Destin, Crestview, Fort Walton Beach, Novar, as well as Choctaw, and Niceville, as well. (45:44) So we encourage you to visit our website. We're always trying to keep things updated with local news and events at thebteamshow.com. All right, we've got time for a few more stories this morning as we rock and roll through this Tuesday. We'll get another look at weather here in the next 15 minutes as well. (46:00) Right now, Guns N' Roses knocking on heaven's door. We're The B Team. Schuyler Black and benchwarmer Tom Mason brought to you by Stripes Pub and Grill in Novar, Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach, 100.3 KROCK. (46:16) On the classic rock station, 100.3 KROCK, it is The B Team morning show. Schuyler Black and Tom Mason on a Tuesday morning. We're dealing with overcast skies here in Fort Walton Beach this morning. We had sunshine earlier. It has clouded up some. (46:33) Taking a look at your radar this morning, we're seeing some showers and thunderstorms offshore right now down at Panama City there. They're getting a good soaking right now. But up here in Okaloosa and Walton and Santa Rosa counties, things are dry this morning, a high today of 89. (46:54) So we'll check your full forecast in just a little bit. Obviously, as we've mentioned, a rather weak tropical storm, Bertha, out there 150 miles, maybe 100 miles offshore, due south of Santa Rosa Beach right now. (47:12) And it's going to continue curling and twirling its way across the northern central Gulf Coast. But yeah, we're expecting some occasional showers and thunderstorms with this and maybe some breezy winds gusting up to 30, 35 the next couple of days. (47:30) But overall, minimal impacts, maybe up to a foot or two of storm surge in coastal areas. So just plan accordingly. But overall, not huge impacts here in northwest Florida. (47:47) Might have a couple of feeder bands coming in later on. Yeah. A few hours. Yeah. Well, this was on Get the Coast's website this morning. Four restaurants here in Okaloosa and in Walton County were named Michelin Recommended in the 2026 Michelin Guide Florida that was released back in May. (48:06) Yeah, that's pretty cool. It was the first time the Guide's Florida selections covered the entire state, including the Panhandle. And the four restaurants include Bitterroot in Destin, the Day Trader Tiki Bar and Restaurant in Seaside, Rue 30A in Grayton Beach, and Evie Mae's Barbecue in Miramar Beach each earned the designation. (48:30) Now, the three Walton County restaurants were recognized at the June 30 Board of County Commissioners meeting where commissioners presented commemorative plaques to the chefs and owners of those restaurants. And Bitterroot is actually the first restaurant in the Destin Fort Walton Beach Market to earn a Michelin Recommendation. (48:50) That's cool. Yeah, Bitterroot is a farm-to-table southern restaurant at 4463 Commons Drive West in Destin and earned its Michelin Recommendation designation the same week it reopened after a kitchen expansion. (49:07) So yeah, they make house-made biscuits with bone marrow and black pepper gravy and gulf shrimp and grits and house-made pecan pie, which I could definitely go for. Yeah, the owner and executive chef Chad McDonaldson said that when we opened Bitterroot, the goal was never an award. (49:29) The goal was to build something worth believing in, a place where people could take pride in their work, a place where people could learn a craft. But it didn't take long. They got themselves a nice award to be Michelin-recognized here. Man, that restaurant business is tough. (49:45) Yeah, it is. Anyone that's in it and can make it long-term, hats off to you. Yeah, because it is hard. And it's cutthroat. And I mean, just overhead, it's just. (50:00) Gonna beat you over the head constantly. Yeah, and just trying to take care of, you know, it's one of those things you can't please everybody, but you got to please enough of the people to where you repeat the doors open right. Exactly. So that's not always easy to do. Absolutely. All right. Well, we're going to take a break and pay a couple bills. Just wanted to pass along and congratulate those local restaurants for the recognition they got with their Michelin recommendation. That's awesome. And designation. So very cool. 829 is the time. It's the B Team Morning Show. Yes, Schuyler Black and Tom Mason doing it without Bobby this morning. And we're doing good. You know what? You know what? We are. We are. Yeah. We get three thumbs up, not two. (50:43) I believe in us. Three. Three thumbs up. That's pretty good. Double vision. I feel like we should play foreigner now. You own it. You own it. You can do it. Tell you what? We'll get that lined up for you right after this on 100.3 KROCK. Journey in separate ways. I know 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station. Tom and I kind of looking at National Hurricane Center's update that came out at seven this morning on Tropical Storm Bertha. It's moving northwest at five miles an hour. Maximum sustained winds right now of 50 miles an hour. And again, right now, according to satellite, it looks to be the center looks to be about 100 miles south of the eastern half of Choctawhatchee Bay right now. Yeah. And it's it's traveling northwest again at five miles an hour. The thing is, is the north of the center, there is just absolutely no moisture in the air. No, nothing. I mean, and you're looking across you're looking across the panhandle and the peninsula. You're looking across south Georgia, south Alabama, south Mississippi, even even south Louisiana. There's just there's just no moisture in the air for this thing to to really gain a lot of steam and traction. It's it is slowly strengthening, but it's going to lead us to some spotty showers and thunderstorms and some some breezy conditions here. (52:15) But as of right now, nothing has has changed to spark any concern in our forecast. I know you were you were looking about the SpaceX launch later this week. Yeah, Thursday was the next planned day. But, you know, I mean, that's always that's always a loose schedule that they keep to. But I was just wondering how much it's going to if it's going to have any impact on that or not. Well, right now, the National Hurricane Center's cone of uncertainty says that after it eventually makes landfall in southern Louisiana, it's supposed to deaden it back into a depression and weaken it some before it eventually gets to the Texas coast on Friday. Yeah. So maybe things will stay on schedule with that. Maybe it could it could it could affect it with cloud cover and stuff like that. But yeah, we'll see. One funny story for you out of state of Washington, a woman in Roy, Washington, has been booked into jail for allegedly attacking her mother and a neighbor before leading police on a chase that ended in a head on crash. (53:27) Now, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a domestic violence call. The caller said her 42 year old daughter was completely naked and assaulted her with a gardening handsaw. Oh, my gosh. She's nuts. The woman even struck her mom and a family dog with a pickup truck. This is awful. The mom and her daughter took her phone. So she had to run to a neighbor's house to escape and call 911. So, yeah, why their mom and granddaughter are picking on grandma? Oh, my gosh. Now, deputies tried to pull the woman over, but she led officers on a pursuit. An officer used a pit maneuver to stop the truck. The woman who was still nude was taken into custody. She was booked into jail on multiple counts of first degree assault involving domestic violence, attempting to elude and resisting arrest. She also had, surprise, surprise, outstanding warrants. What? Are you kidding me? I know. She has a record? Mind blowing stuff right there. Wow. I wonder if there's any drugs involved. Not a chance. No drugs, no alcohol. No mind altering substance. Nothing like that. Nothing like that. It's a BT morning show. We got two more songs and then we got to say bye bye for The B Team show this morning. Now The B Team encore hour is coming up. That's where Tom and I get to talk about local news and events that's on the horizon here this week and coming up very soon. But of course, if you missed any of the show that anything we talked about on the show today, we've got it all online for you at The B Team show dot com. The show notes tab from local news and events to wacky holidays. Ask Uncle Bobby and so much more, including the show on demand in its entirety with the rewind or down to the bits, which we call the Redux. You can find it all online at The B Team show dot com. And of course, B team show dot com, proudly sponsored by Frank and Karen Bennett Loan Depot right here in Fort Walton Beach, your local mortgage experts. Fantastic, man. That's good, Tom. Yeah. Good first day to have you back. Yeah, it's been fun. We haven't done a show together, I believe, since March, April. Well, you and Bobby were covering for me in April. Okay. So March then. Yeah, March when he was gone to Timbuktu. Yeah, one of those other times he didn't care. (56:04) Right. But that was like three weeks. Oh, I know. He was gone forever. He was on a sababical. Isn't that appropriate? That is. That was good. Okay. And that's a wrap on today's B team Redux.
