International Traffic Light Day: The Little Glowing Dictator That Controls Your Life Better Than Your Boss
Description
We celebrated the Little Glowing Dictator (traffic lights, not Kim Jong-un—though the line gets blurry), paid respects to cold boogers masquerading as oysters, and Uncle Bobby weaponized a Post-it note into two months of psychological warfare—because professionalism is adorable until someone learns to prank with elegance.

Show Notes
Good morning, Fort Walton Beach and the Emerald Coast! Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell kicked off Hump Day on 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station, with a high of 90 degrees and the kind of sardonic wisdom only a Wednesday morning can inspire. Brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach, we dove headfirst into the absurdity of the National Day calendar—because nothing says civilization like honoring stoplights, oysters, and underwear in the same breath.
First up: International Traffic Light Day, the annual reminder that three colored bulbs have more control over your behavior than your boss, your pastor, and your own common sense combined. We're sitting there like confused toddlers, staring obediently at the Little Glowing Dictator (not Kim Jong-un, though we have our own version locally). Then came National Oyster Day, celebrating the salty little loogie that looks like it lost a bar fight—because nothing says sophistication like swallowing cold pudding with ambition. How hungry was that first guy? Miserable, we're guessing. Next: National Underwear Day, the annual celebration of the one garment everybody owns and nobody wants to discuss at dinner. Civilization is one elastic waistband away from chaos, folks. And finally, Work Like a Dog Day—a charming little calendar prank where we grind ourselves into dust and call it hustle instead of poor boundaries. Who's holding the leash? Great question.
Local happenings: The Emerald Coast Science Center wraps up its Planetarium this Friday—last chance to get the kids out before school starts. Fireworks light up the Okaloosa Island Pier tonight at 9pm (free and open to the public, as God intended). Shout out to the Niceville 10U Baseball Team representing Florida up in Wilson, North Carolina at the Southeastern Regional Tournament—we're working on an update for Thursday. And don't miss First Friday Coffee with the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce this Friday morning, where we'll be broadcasting live courtesy of Eglin Federal Credit Union, Coastal Realty Services, Okaloosa Gas, and Miss Tammy with Tammy's Journeys. Plus, Memorial Parkway resurfacing between Hollywood and Beale should wrap up this week—weather permitting, naturally.
Then came the crown jewel: Ask Uncle Bobby, brought to you by Hard Rock Bet (because football season is around the corner and futures are live). Today's question from Stapler Phantom Steve: should I join in on office pranks or stay professional? Uncle Bobby's verdict? Office pranks aren't jokes—they're low-grade psychological warfare with toner. Participate with elegance, not cruelty. Start small, upgrade slowly, and become someone who can destabilize a morning without destabilizing a career. The real promotion? When they stop pranking you first—not out of kindness, but caution. Bobby's crowning achievement? Leaving a note in an OCD coworker's cubicle that said, "Ever wonder if your stuff gets moved or missing while you're gone?"—then not touching a thing. Two and a half months of paranoia later, his boss called: "You better tell her what you moved." Glorious.
That's your Wednesday morning on 100.3 KROCK—classic rock, local news, and the kind of advice that makes you question your life choices in the best way possible. Catch us Friday at First Friday Coffee, tune in for the Choctaw Big Green Indians and Niceville Eagles this fall, and remember: the line between culinary adventure and urgent care is usually one bad oyster away. Rock on, Emerald Coast.

(00:01) Here's today's B Team Redux. 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station. Good morning, everybody. Welcome to Hump Day. Hump Day? There you go. There's the camel. I'm Schuyler Black. He's Bobby Dewrell. The B Team Morning Show is on the air, brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, as well as Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. A high today of 90 and 89 and 89 Thursday and Friday. (00:27) So, we'll check that full forecast in just a little bit. Bobby, the first thing I want to talk about this morning on the National Day calendar is so important. It's International Traffic Light Day. Oh, yeah. The one invention that has grown adults sitting obediently in cars staring at colors like confused toddlers. (00:47) Well, you make us sound like simpletons. For some people, it's harder than you. International Traffic Light Day is the annual reminder that three colored bulbs have more control over your behavior than your boss, your pastor, and your own common sense combined. (01:03) See, it tips its cap to the invention that turned go-whenever-you-feel-like it into sit-there-contemplating-your-life-while-the-guy-behind-you auditions for anger management. See, somewhere people are celebrating safety and coordination, civic responsibility, and somewhere else, a left turn arrow is lying to a whole line of decent taxpayers. And that's the beauty of it. We honor the Little Glowing Dictator not because it's inspiring, but because without it, we'd be negotiating intersections like raccoons and dumpster fire. (01:35) The Little Glowing Dictator. You like that? Didn't know if you were talking about stoplights or Kim Jong-un. Well, we have our own here. Oh, we do? Yeah, he's a real pain. Uh-oh. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, this is Woodstock. (01:53) Gay rock, the classic rock station. Guns N' Roses, Sweet Child of Mine, as we work our way through the 6 o'clock hour, Scattered Black and Bobby Dewrell on the air. Don't forget, this coming Friday is the end of the Planetarium this summer at the Emerald Coast Science Center. (02:11) So if you're looking for a chance to get the kids out for one more fun summer activity before school starts here in the next week or so, check out the Planetarium this week at the Emerald Coast Science Center. We've got the link to buy your tickets online at thebteamshow.com. Just click on the events tab. (02:29) Well, today, on the National Day calendar, Bobby, we celebrate a big one right here. It's National Oyster Day. Oh, National Oyster Day. Yeah, because nothing says celebration like paying good money to slurp a cold booger that might fight back. (02:45) Oh. You know what? I've always wondered, how hungry did that first guy have to be? Yeah, he must have been a miserable SOB. I mean, that's hungry because it looks bad on the outside, and well, when you crack it open, it don't look any better. It looks worse. (03:01) Hey, National Oyster Day is that annual reminder that grown adults will pay good money to swallow a salty little loogie that looks like it lost a bar fight just to feel sophisticated for 12 seconds. You know, it's a holiday for people who love the ocean, hate chewing, and, well, trust lemon wedges like they're FDA-approved priests. (03:19) See, you'll see raw, grilled, fried, and locally-soiced oysters paraded around like a personality trait, while everyone pretends the texture isn't basically cold pudding with ambition. Celebrate however you want. Just remember, the line between culinary adventure and urgent care is usually one bad shell away. It's National Oyster Day. (03:43) B Team Morning Show is on the air on 100.3 KROCK, all brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas at OutKast Sushi, and Miramar Beach on 100.3 KROCK. There's more here than meets the ear. 100.3 KROCK. Illusion on 100.3 KROCK. (04:01) It's the classic rock station. Don't forget, you can live a life of delusion with Uncle Bobby coming up in an hour and 15 minutes right here on the B Team Morning Show. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell on this Wednesday morning. A high today of 89 degrees. We'll check your forecast in just a little bit, but time to dig into another national holiday. It's National Underwear Day, Bobby. (04:25) I didn't wear any today. I never wear any. Oh, man. Yeah, nothing says culture like celebrating the one garment everybody owns and nobody wants to talk about at the dinner table. Where are we? Where are we with these national days? I tell you what, National Underwear Day is that annual reminder that civilization is one elastic waistband away from chaos and somehow we've decided to celebrate the middle layer like it's a national treasure. You know, it's part body positivity, part retail scheme, and part please don't sit on my furniture like that. (04:57) You know, depending on how committed you are to the bit. Now, the rules are simple. Acknowledge the absurdity, pretend it's empowering, and act surprised when the internet turns it into a contact sport. So stick around because once people start making statements in their skivvies, somebody's about to learn a hard lesson about confidence and lighting. (05:19) A whole day dedicated to britches. Yep, that's right. It's National Underwear Day, and the BT Morning Show is not celebrating it today, apparently. We'll check your local news in just a little bit. Queen on the way after David Bowie's modern love on KROCK. Crazy little thing called love from Queen on 100.3 KROCK. It's Wednesday morning. Happy Hump Day, everybody. (05:45) Tonight, fireworks out there on the pier on Okaloosa Island. Tonight, starting at 9pm, we've got the list of all the upcoming events for you on the events tab at the bteamshow.com. Well, Bobby, one last national holiday to talk about. It's Work Like a Dog Day. (06:01) Oh, yeah. It's a holiday for bosses. Yeah, I guess I'll celebrate by barking at emails and napping under my desk. Work Like a Dog Day. Man, that's a different meaning than most people would say. Oh, Work Like a Dog is a charming little calendar prank we all pretend grinding ourselves into dust. It's a personality trait worth celebrating. (06:21) You know, look, the premise is simple. You gotta show up early, stay late, answer emails like they're defusing a bomb, and call it a hustle instead of poor boundaries. You know, it nods to the dogs in the metaphor. Loyal. Tireless. Tragically underpaid. While the rest of us chase treats to come in the form of a great job and a pizza party with one napkin. So, yeah, it's absurd on purpose, which makes it perfect. (06:45) A holiday that dares you to clap for your own exhaustion before you even ask who's holding the leash. Work Like a Dog Day. There you have it. Alright, it's the B Team Morning Show on 100.3k Rock. Schuyler Black and Bobby Durrell. Lots of local news and events to talk about here in the next couple of hours. (07:03) And, of course, ask Uncle Bobby on the way in just a little while as well. Right now, a quick break and a look at local news is next on 100.3k Rock. 100.3k Rock. Back in Black. Or is it Bobby in Black? (07:19) Is that our theme song? Yeah, yeah, yeah, something like that. I bet we could make A.I. come up with a parody to it. Probably. Nah, actually, it won't because it'll say because of the rights that it can't. Copyright. Yeah. Well, there are these things called laws. (07:37) Alright, good morning everybody. How you doing? Just after 7, Schuyler Black and Bobby Durrell, the B Team Morning Show's on the air, brought to you by our friends including Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. We'll check your forecast here in about 20 minutes. CCR, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, and more coming up this half hour right now. Genesis, no reply at all. (08:03) Van Halen on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3k Rock, and online at krockfwb.com. Hey, shout out to the Niceville 10U Baseball Team up in Wilson, North Carolina right now, playing in that Southeastern Regional Tournament representing the entire state of Florida. Would love to get an update on how they are doing. We'll work on that for you for Thursday morning. (08:27) Don't forget tonight, Bobby, fireworks out there on the beach. Every Wednesday night throughout the summer at 9pm, don't miss out on fireworks on the Okaloosa Island Pier. It's free and open to the public, so don't miss out on fireworks this evening. We'll take a break, pay a couple bills, more non-stop Classic Rock coming up in just a bit on 100.3k Rock. (08:51) You actually like this? Yeah, dude, it's Classic Rock. Well, there's more where that came from. 100.3k Rock. Mario Speedwagon, roll with the changes on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3k Rock. It's the B Team Morning Show, brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (09:11) Bobby, we're two days away from the next Greater Fort Balton Beach Chamber of Commerce First Friday Coffee. Yeah, yeah, it's coming up. I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to it as well. It'll be fun to be out there again. We'll be out there broadcasting live Friday morning, chatting with local business owners, non-profits, and local civic leaders as well. And of course, our coverage this month and live remote broadcast, brought to you in part by Eglin Federal Credit Union, as well as Coastal Realty Services, Okaloosa Gas, and Miss Tammy with Tammy's Journeys. (09:45) So, looking forward to doing that Friday morning, the B Team on location from First Friday Coffee. Alright, Ask Uncle Bobby coming up in just a few minutes, along with music from Bad Company. Right now, Super Tramp on 100.3 KROCK. (10:01) Bad Company on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 KROCK. Good morning, everybody. How you doing? I'm Schuyler Black. It's the B Team Morning Show. He is Bobby Dewrell. And it's time in the morning, Bobby, for your wisdom to be shared with all of our audience. (10:17) We call it Ask Uncle Bobby, weekday mornings around 745. All brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. That's right. Training camp is underway, which means football season is right around the corner, but you don't have to wait till kickoff to start betting on football. (10:35) Yeah, head on over to Hard Rock Bet right now and lock in your favorite futures. Who will hoist the Lombardi? Who will be crowned MVP? Which team is that sneaky dark horse to make the playoffs? And if you're more into the college game, who will win the natty? (10:53) If you've got a crystal ball, now's the time to use it. So get your pigskin predictions in on the Hard Rock Bet today and roll with us. Offered by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, must be over 21 and physically present in the Florida to wager. Terms and conditions apply. (11:11) Concerned about your gambling? Well, you can call or text 1-833-PLAYWISE. After all that, now you've got to give advice. Yeah, no lie. Yes. Alright, Uncle Bobby, today your question comes in from Stapler Phantom Steve. (11:27) Dear Uncle Bobby, my office is big on pranks, and I feel pressured to join in. Should I participate to fit in, or stay out of it to keep things professional? Professionalism. Professionalism. Adorable. (11:43) You know, that word gets people promoted right up until the moment someone else learns how to weaponize a post-it note and suddenly they own the floor like a minor duke. See, look, here's the truth nobody prints on the employee handbook. Office pranks are not jokes. (11:59) They are low-grade psychological warfare with toner. You know, they are tiny, harmless chaos deployed to find out who panics, who adapts, and who quietly starts applying to their jobs. See, the prank culture is not asking if you are fun. It's asking if you can take a hit and keep smiling like your dental plan depends on it. Because it does. (12:21) See, if you abstain, you're not being professional, you are announcing you are a spectator, and in any ecosystem, the spectators become background furniture. I mean, nice furniture, but furniture nonetheless. People lean on you. They set coffee on you. Nobody consults the end table about strategy. (12:41) See, you do not need to become a clown. You need to become a tactician. You gotta participate, but with elegance. Your pranks should be clean, deniable, and morally positive. See, the kind that makes the room laugh and the target say, through gritted teeth, okay, that was good. (13:03) See, that sentence is a tiny surrender ceremony. So you gotta start small. Not cruel. Not messy. Something that proves you understand the rules of engagement. Then slowly upgrade until people realize you are not just surviving the culture, you're conducting it. (13:21) The goal is not to be liked. The goal is to be rejected as someone who can destabilize a morning without destabilizing a career. Because the real promotion, well, that's when they stop pranking you first. Not out of kindness. (13:37) Out of caution. Alright, there's your advice this morning, Stapler Phantom Steve. And of course, if you missed Uncle Bobby yesterday, or any time last week, we've got them all for you online at the bteamshow.com, or you can find them at DewBob.com and buy your exclusive DewBob merch. That's right. (13:55) And listen, I was once king of office pranks. Were ya? Oh yeah. Hidin' stuff? Oh no, the best one I ever pulled, best one I ever did, is we had a girl that worked for us that was massively OCD. (14:11) Right? And I had to work one of the late night shifts. And so I went over and I dropped a note in her cubicle that says, you ever wonder what if your stuff gets moved or missing while you're gone? And I didn't touch anything. I just put the note in her cubicle. (14:27) God, you made her paranoid, didn't ya? For weeks. It was probably about two and a half months later I get a call from my boss that says, you better tell her what the hell you moved. I cannot do this anymore. And I was like, I didn't move anything and I got you bastard. And she hung up the phone on me. (14:47) Yeah, you freaked her out for sure. There you go. There's Ask Uncle Bobby weekday mornings around 745. All brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. Mmm. Quick break at local news is next. There's the stones. (15:11) Give me shelter on a Wednesday morning. Have you seen many camels out yet, Bobby? Nope. No, it is a pump day Wednesday, though. You can find us online at thebteamshow.com Remember, our website's got everything that we always talk about. (15:27) On the show notes tab, you can find the local news and events that we preview. You can find the, you know, goofy national holidays we talk about during the six o'clock hour. (16:31) Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre as well as Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Mirabar Beach. And just a reminder that Memorial Parkway right here in Fort Walton Beach undergoing a resurfacing project from Hollywood north to Beale. And of course work is going to be weather dependent, but should be actually wrapped up this week. And they ask that all vehicles and other obstructions be removed from the right-of-way and immediate work beginning during the hours between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. So, hopefully that project is wrapped up here today or tomorrow. But again, Memorial Parkway resurfacing is underway right now. (17:17) Again, between Hollywood and Beale. Alright, Bobby, coming up here in just a little bit... We've got more. (18:07) And we'll be out there in the morning broadcasting live, chatting with local movers and shakers and taking in the event. Each of us, I think that's the first time we've gone to the downtown coffee club. Yeah. It'll be the first time for me, for sure. So, shout out to the folks that invited us. (18:25) Ms. Candace Tanner and Mr. Tom Tona inviting us out to be a part of that event. And we're looking forward to it at our next live remote broadcast Thursday, August 13th. I shouldn't say next. Our next one is actually coming up on Friday from First Friday Coffee with the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce. (18:45) So, we'll talk more about that in just a little bit. Here's Journey just the same way. It's Wednesday morning. You're rocking with the B Team on 100.3. And I won't tell no lies. Won't tell you no lies. It's the B Team morning show on 100.3 KROCK.
