Frankenstein Friday & Trunk-or-Treat Tyranny: Why Halloween Lost Its Adventure in a Church Parking Lot

Description

We stapled together leftover plans, mismatched chaos, and whatever's still twitching from the week, then dared to call it Frankenstein Friday—because nothing says "tradition" like romanticizing a Frankensteined disaster and pretending it has meaning.

Show Notes

Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell kicked off Friday morning on 100.3 KROCK—Fort Walton Beach's classic rock station—with a reminder that today and tomorrow are your last shots at early voting (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at six locations across Okaloosa County), then it's game day Tuesday at your normal precinct. They celebrated Frankenstein Friday, that glorious annual tradition where you staple together your poor decisions, hit the switch, and act shocked when the whole thing lurches off the table—kind of like half your friends' relationships, Bobby noted. Also on the docket: Mischief Night (the pre-Halloween warm-up for people who peaked at 14), National Text Your Ex Day (because nothing says personal growth like poking the bear you barely escaped), and Create a Great Funeral Day (plan a party you won't be awake for, so your loved ones don't turn your legacy into a sad potato salad potluck).

Weather's looking gorgeous—high of 82 today, rain chances on Sunday dropping below 50 percent, and don't forget we fall back Sunday at 2 a.m., which means darker afternoons and everyone getting cranky by four o'clock. Local happenings are stacked: the Rocky Horror Murder Mystery Experience hits La Sala Event Center in Navarre tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (dinner included, cash bar available, $70 plus tax); the Hispanic Heritage Festival runs noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Landing with live music, authentic food, and an America 250 tribute; and Sunday brings the second annual One Hopeful Place Chili Cook-off at Lew's Tavern from 11 till 2—Schuyler's entering a chili called "Wendy's" (not his grandma, not Dave Thomas, just plausible deniability in case it sucks). Also Sunday: the Okaloosa County Middle School Football Championship at Meigs (6 p.m., Meigs vs. Destin), and college football all weekend—FSU hosts Clemson tomorrow night (6 p.m. on 94.3 FTW), Gators take on UGA in Atlanta (2:30 p.m. on 103.7 the Ticket), and Bobby cashed in $87 on a Troy upset over James Madison, proving even a blind squirrel finds a nut when you throw $10 at Hard Rock Bet.

The boys also dove into local governance drama—fire district board races in Santa Rosa County are actually contested this year (rare), and Bobby went off on half-educated keyboard warriors conflating Tallahassee's anti-woke crusade with local budgets that have nothing to do with DEI nonsense. "The weak minds yell the loudest," he said, advocating for summary hanging and quartering of elected officials who don't bother learning the system before griping about it. Elsewhere: Fort Walton Beach's First United Methodist Church celebrated 80 years of service this week with a city proclamation, FEMA individual assistance is now live for eight Panhandle counties (apply at disasterassistance.gov), and a drunk Florida Man broke into a Popeye's, filmed himself pretending to be an employee, and was arrested after admitting he just wanted a bottle of water. Classic.

In Ask Uncle Bobby (brought to you by Hard Rock Bet), a parent mourned the death of real Halloween—pillowcases, streetlights, risk—replaced by trunk-or-treats in church parking lots with security lights and two-hour windows. Bobby's advice? Go to the trunk-or-treat, smile, thank the nice lady with the Costco chocolate, then take your kids down your own street afterward and let them knock on three doors, feel that weird pause after the doorbell, and earn a little candy the old-fashioned way. "Halloween doesn't need to be dangerous," he said, "but it does need to feel like you've left the house." Amen. Brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach—because even your drunk uncle needs a sponsor.

(00:01) Here's today's B Team Redux. On 100.3 KROCK. Good morning, everybody. Welcome to Friday. It's the B Team Morning Show. Yes, it is. Brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas, and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (00:17) You've got today and tomorrow to do your early voting. Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then Election Day Tuesday at your normal precinct and polling place. Several locations around the county where you can vote early. Two in Crestview, one in Chalamar, one in Destin, and one in Niceville. (00:43) So, get out there and make sure you do vote. Well, Bobby, how are you doing? I'm peachy. Are you excited that today happens to be Frankenstein Friday? Oh, yeah. You know, the holiday where you stitch together your poor decisions, hit the switch, and then act shocked when it starts walking? (00:59) Yeah, like that. Frankenstein Friday is that beautiful annual reminder that humans will staple anything to anything and call it a tradition, then act shocked when it lurches off the table. Look, you take leftover ideas, mismatched plans, and whatever parts of the week are still twitching, you sew them all together with caffeine and badge judgment, and you dare it to pass as a celebration. You know, the whole point isn't perfection. It's the audacity of bringing a brand new mess of life to life and insisting it has meaning. So, stick around, because once you've watched people romanticize this dished-up disaster, you start recognizing half your friend's relationships. (01:41) Okay. Well, Frankenstein Friday is here, folks. Lots of Halloween-like events going on. This weekend, we'll get to some of those here in just a little bit. It's the B Team Morning Show, brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach on 100.3 Station, 100.3 KROCK. It's the B Team Morning Show. Hey, if you're looking for something fun to do tomorrow night, check out the Rocky Horror Murder Mystery Experience, happening at La Sala Event Center in Navarre. Showtime is set for 7 p.m., includes dinner and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are $70 plus taxes. (02:23) Visit lasalaeventcenter.com for more information, or we've got the link to click on it directly and buy those tickets. If you go to our website, thebteamshow.com, click on the Events tab and just look for Rocky Horror at La Sala. Well, tonight on the National Day calendar, we celebrate Mischief Night. Oh, yeah! (02:43) The annual reminder that some folks peaked at 14 and never found a better hobby than running your trash cans. Mischief Night is that unofficial pre-Halloween warm-up where otherwise normal people decide the social contract was a cute suggestion and then go test it on your mailbox. (03:01) It's a holiday equivalent of shaking a soda can and handing it to the neighborhood. A little tradition, a little boredom, a whole lot of nobody-saw-me math. Depending on your zip code, it ranges from harmless pranks to the kind of property damage that turns a dad into a detective and a mom into a prosecutor. You know, it's absurd, sure, but it's also a clean little preview of what happens when you give the public a theme night and absolutely no adult supervision. (03:27) Mischief Night. Alright, celebrate however you want, but I'm probably not going to celebrate with Bobby because that just would end badly. True. Hey, college football, back on the air tomorrow on our sister stations. The Gators are in action. The Seminoles are in action. (03:45) Crimson Tide, have a bye week. We'll talk about those games coming up here in just a little bit. It's the B Team Morning Show on the Classic Rock Station. 100.3 KROCK. Stand by for more rock. 100.3 KROCK. David Lee Roth, just like paradise on the Classic Rock Station. (04:03) 100.3 KROCK. It's the B Team Morning Show. Brought to you by our friends at Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas at Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. Tomorrow night, big game in Tallahassee. We'll see if the Noles can get back on the right side of things with a win as they host Clemson. Won't be easy, but it's possible. 6 o'clock kickoff from Dote Campbell tomorrow night. FSU actually favored by 6. We'll carry it on 94-3. FTW, Crimson Tide off this weekend, but the Gators, big rivalry matchup with UGA in Atlanta and the Dogs are favored by 12.5 in that one. (04:45) 2.30 kickoff tomorrow on Sister Station. 103.7 the ticket. Well, our next national holiday today. I don't even know if this is a holiday. This sounds like misery. It's National Texture X Day. That's right, because nothing says personal growth like poking the bear you barely escaped with your dignity and a Netflix password, Jim. (05:03) I feel like you kind of called him out there a little bit. Jim. Well, I didn't call Jim out. You called Jim out. I didn't. Jimbo. I think you just heard it. Jimbo Fisher. (05:19) National Texture X Day is that little calendar gremlin that crawls out once a year to remind you your thumbs have the memory of a goldfish and the judgment of a raccoon and a dumpster. Yeah, it's not about closure. It's about curiosity, boredom, and thinking I'm fine now. You know, like that's a medical clearance. (05:37) One minute, you're just checking in. The next minute, you're re-litigating at 2019 at 1147pm with the battery at 6% and the dignity at zero. So consider it a public service announcement from the universe. Your past is not a hobby and your phone is not a time machine. (05:53) Well said. Hey, you know what we forgot to mention? What? That the Okaloosa County Middle School Championship football game is coming up tonight. Oh, that's right. 6pm at Meigs Middle School Meigs will host Destin for the right to take home the bacon. (06:17) Well, there you go. Thanks to Clint Jax for sending that in this morning. He said, you didn't talk about the Middle School Football Championship. Well, now we did, Clint. Now we did. Go get them, kids. Joe Walsh, Rocky Mountain Way. It's 100.3 KROCK. (06:33) Classic Rock Station. It's the B Team Morning Show brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas at Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. Don't miss out on the second annual One Hopeful Place Chili Cook-Off happening at Lew's Tavern on Sunday from 11 till 2. This is going to be a great event. (06:51) Come enjoy some delicious chili and support a great local organization, One Hopeful Place, that's dedicated to helping locals in need. So, don't miss out. All proceeds benefit One Hopeful Place. It happens on Sunday, 11 till 2 at Lew's Tavern here in Fort Walton. (07:13) Well, there's one final national holiday to celebrate today, and I feel this is kind of morbid, because it's the day before the dark Halloween holiday, and it's called Create a Great Funeral Day. Finally! You know what? That's what we needed. It's a holiday where the guest list doesn't cancel, and speeches are short, and somebody else picks the music. (07:33) Right. Create a Great Funeral Day is that little calendar gremlin that reminds you the only guaranteed RSVP you're ever going to get is for your own send-off. You know, the premise is simple. Plan a party you won't be awake for. Music, readings, who speaks, who absolutely doesn't. So, your loved ones, don't turn your legacy into a sad potato salad potluck with a sideshow that looks like it was edited on a microwave. You know, it's not about being morbid. It's about being practical, like writing a will, except with better lighting and fewer cousins freelancing their feelings in the microphone. (08:07) Consider it life admin with a tuxedo. You're not inviting death in, you're just making sure it can redecorate. All right. It's Create a Great Funeral Day. Yeah, that's the last national holiday we have to talk about at this point and moment. (08:25) We're going to take a break, pay a couple bills. Your 7 o'clock hour is coming up next. I'm Schuyler Black. He's Bobby Durrell. This is the B Team Morning Show brought to you by Stripes and Navarre, Okaloosa Gas and Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach on 100.3 KROCK. You actually like this? Yeah, dude. (08:41) It's classic rock. Well, there's more where that came from. 100.3 KROCK. Well, just felt like the right time to play some Bob Seger. Yeah. Yeah. Good morning everybody. 7-10 is the time. It's the B Team Morning Show on the Classic Rock Station, 100.3 KROCK. Schuyler Black, Bobby Durrell, Friday morning. (09:03) It's a gorgeous one out there. Actually, we had a pretty nice sunrise today, right? Yeah, we did. We did. We had a nice sunrise today. Beautiful sunset last night. Yeah. Now, it doesn't look like tonight's going to be quite so grand, but a little on the flat side. (09:21) Yeah, just not enough cloud cover, but you know, hey, anyone can be beautiful. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. But sunrise tomorrow, so sunset today at 6pm, sunrise tomorrow at 7am. (09:37) Now, 7am sunrise is scoring a 65 there, so it's looking a little better. Cool. Yeah. Cool. It's yeah, so we like to see between 30 and 60% cloud cover. There's going to be about 24. Oh, that's too much. Yeah, it might not be enough sun to pull through, but I find sometimes that those heavier cloud cover mornings are just gorgeous because the sky just Just amber. So there's not a lot of color depth. (10:03) Well, you know, you don't really get much fall colors down here. So that's about as much fall color as you're going to get. About as close as you're going to be. About as close as you're going to be. We're the B Team Morning Show. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell. Brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre. Okaloosa Gas at Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (10:21) Several stories working for you this morning. Here's what we've got coming up. We're going to take a look at Choctawhatchee High School Cadets completing an obstacle course as an Eagle Scout project. That's kind of cool. (10:36) Also, South Santa Rosa, the two fire control districts in the Navarre area, Holly Navarre Fire and Navarre Beach Fire, see highly contested races in those fire control district board seats. (10:51) We'll talk about that a little bit. Fort Walton Beach First United Methodist Church celebrates 80 years with a proclamation at City Hall earlier this week. We'll get to all those stories and more as we work through the next few hours here on the B Team Morning Show. (11:09) Plus, Bobby celebrating a big dub last night. That's true. Did win a little bit. Troy with the upset. James Madison. Oh, I thought you were talking about the fact that I won the door prize at the watch party. (11:25) Well, we're going to... The watch party? Yeah, we had a watch party up at Third Planet. Oh, that's right. We'll get to that here just a little bit. Stay with us. In the meantime, ELO coming up after Zeppelin. Fool in the Rain. It's the B Team Morning Show on 100.3 KROCK. (11:44) Mama, Mama Bell on 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station. Classic ELO song right there on a Friday morning. A beautiful sunrise here in South Okaloosa County. High today climbing up to 82. (12:01) Now, I will tell you, over the last two days, our rain chances on Sunday have dropped. We were at about 70 percent then yesterday, about 55. Now, just a skosh below 50 percent chance of rain on Sunday. (12:16) Well, there you go. It is diminishing on the rainfall expectancy on the second half of your weekend. Now, last night, Thursday night, Choctaw played football. Improved their record to 6-2. (12:31) 49-7 win over Booker T. Washington High School in Pecola. And the Indians, again, improved to 6-2 on the season. And, yeah, the game. Choctaw and Ford Walton coming up on next week. (12:49) So, don't miss out. Who are you pulling for, Bobby? Vikes or the Indians? What do you think? I would say he doesn't want to. Kind of a dumb question. He's not a big, mean, greeny fan. No, I'm not. (13:04) He's going with the old alma mater. Alright, well, folks. Yeah, there's some debate going on. Riley Greene, the country artist, wrote a song called Bartender in Destin. (13:21) Came out last year. And an acoustic version of the song recently went viral on YouTube. Renewing curiosity about its inspiration. And fans and locals are speculating which Destin bar and bartender the song is actually about. (13:38) Now, the Boathouse is a popular pick. As is AJ and the Red Bar. I'll tell you what. I think it was the Sky Bar. Yeah? You do? I do. I think it was the Sky Bar. (13:55) Because I don't really know any other bartenders in Destin that I like. Outside of the Sky Bar. I think we need to give Chris and Heather some love over there. That's what I'm saying. Is that what it is? That's what I'm saying. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see if we ever find out where the inspiration from Bartender in Destin came from. (14:12) Even if we know the name of the bar that it came from would be rather interesting. Alright, stay with us. Coming up in the second half of the hour. Bobby's got some advice to give everybody before you head off for the weekend. Sure. (14:27) Let's go with that. Sure. You don't sound too confident in that. I'm as confident as I can be. Okay. Stay with us. We'll take a quick break. KISS coming up. The Eagles. ACDC and more. Who doesn't want to hear some ACDC at 730 on a Friday morning? (14:45) That's right. I do. We're going to get that for you here in just a little bit. On 100.3 KROCK. The Classic Rock Station. It's the BT Morning Show. Brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre. Okaloosa Gas at Outkast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (15:00) Scatter Black in Bobby Dewrell. It is a Friday morning, 738 the time. We'll see a high today of about 82 degrees. Well, earlier this week the city of Fort Walton Beach's council and Mayor Pro Tem David Schmidt read the following proclamation during or read a proclamation during this week's council meeting as they recognize clergy and members from the Fort Walton Beach First United Methodist Church and that church celebrating 80 years of service to the community. (15:31) So clergy and parishioners of that church, congratulations on 80 years. Anything of longevity like that deserves recognition. So glad that they got that recognition earlier this week. (15:47) Now, yeah, two of 11 Fire District Commission seats are up for election in Santa Rosa County. Face contested races this cycle. Holly Navarre Fire and Navarre Beach Fire each have two candidates vying for open positions while the remaining nine races feature single candidates running unopposed. (16:09) And it's not often you see these contested races in fire-controlled districts. On fire-controlled district boards. So it'll be interesting to see how that goes. A lot of times when it comes to fire-controlled districts, you think those board seats are kind of a shoe-in for some people? (16:32) Could be. Yeah, just saying. I think it's the one thing a lot of people don't pay attention to is what I think it is. And again, that's not something that can be controlled at a county level at all. (16:47) Those fire-controlled districts go straight to the governor. Right to Tallahassee. I've always said, Bobby, I feel like the local government's biggest problem in the panhandle is Tallahassee. (17:03) Well, I think a problem that a lot of people get confused by and conflate up here is some of the things that our Republican governor has been railing against don't apply here. Some of the things that they're putting in place and why they're saying, hey, we think we want to give some property tax relief. (17:23) Hey, we want to make forced counties and forced municipalities to go through these budget exercises and all this. Has nothing to do with how we've been operating here in the panhandle. It has everything to do with all the DEI and all the liberal and woke agenda that happens in Central and South Florida. (17:42) And those people saying, oh, well, if you put in these cuts, we're going to keep our DEI going, but we're going to cut back on fire and we're going to cut back on police and we're going to do this. And that's just not what's happening here. And we've got some people that are just half educated, which is about the scariest damn thing there is. (18:03) And they're taking that and conflating it and trying to put it into what's happening here in Okaloosa County. And it just doesn't apply. I mean, we are already pretty frugal with our spending and we don't get into this woke agenda crap. (18:20) So, you know, whatever, man, you know, you have a choice in life. You have a choice to and whatever you see and think is what expands. Right. Right. (18:35) So if you want to if you want to think that everybody's nefarious political insiders trying to squander money, well, then that's what you're going to see. Exactly. I mean, and, you know, you just whatever. I just too many people out there are just a pain in the butt. (18:52) Well, so in the wrong way, in the wrong way. I mean, and you know, if you want to be contrarian, if you want to talk about how things are wrong, then educate yourself on the system. Right. Exactly. That's the and that's the big issue. (19:07) And as a matter of fact, if you're an elected official and you don't spend the time to talk to the employees, if you don't spend the time to find out why it's going to talk with the finance director to understand the books, to understand what's going on, to understand why those things are there. (19:22) You can still understand it and disagree with it. But if you don't spend the time to understand it, you're doing a disservice to your constituents. Right. Exactly. And honestly, I think it's a dereliction of duty. And I think you should be summarily hung and quartered. (19:37) I hear you, though. Yeah, I do. I do. I hear you loud and clear. It's it's not only irresponsible, but it's it's disingenuous. It's nefarious. (19:52) Yeah. At its core. I mean, just to be contrarian to be contrarian and then not know what the hell you're talking about. Yeah, it's ignorance by choice. Then you can always claim there's some sort of conspiracy theory. Well, you know, the weak minds yell the loudest. (20:11) Is that what they say? Yep. Okay. Alright, hey, stay with us. Ask Uncle Bobby coming up in three minutes. We are the B Team Morning Show brought to you by Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas at Outkast Sushi at Miramar Beach on 100.3. (20:27) Giving the dog a bone. It's Friday morning. You're rocking with the B Team on the classic rock station. 100.3 KROCK. Bobby's got this snazzy new little mini computer thing. Yeah. What's this gizmo called? It's just the GPD Mini. It's just a small computer. It's a little smaller than I thought it was going to be. (20:45) I will tell you that. It's kind of like, you remember the Who's? Yeah. Yeah, it's kind of like Bobby playing with a Who computer. A Who computer, yeah. There you go. Oh, it transforms into a tablet. Yeah. Alright, well the music in the background tells us it's time for your daily advice. (21:03) Ask Uncle Bobby. That's right. Brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. Well, the Hard Rock Bet party is on. And new customers are on the list for up to $500 in no-sweat bets. That's right. Sign up today and bet $5 to get $500 in no-sweat bets. (21:20) Now, that's how you get the party started on Hard Rock Bet, Florida's only legal sports book. Now, it's not a cash offer. It's offered by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. It must be 21 and over and physically present in Florida to wager. Terms and conditions apply. Concerned about your gambling? Well, call or text 1-833-PLAYWISE. (21:36) PLAYWISE. Alright, today, Uncle Bobby. On Friday, October 30th, you hear from the pillowcase in mourning. Dear Uncle Bobby, my kids are going trick-or-treating this weekend. Except it's a trunk-or-treat in a church parking lot with 40 minivans, decorated hatchbacks, and a two-hour window under a security light. (21:59) I remember carrying a pillowcase through the neighborhood until the streetlights came on, and I feel weirdly sad watching Halloween get turned into a scheduled event. Am I being dramatic, or did we take the adventure out of it? Well, first of all, a parking lot is not a neighborhood. (22:17) Now, it can be useful. It can be kind. It can be a nice little setup for families who need the lights on, the route short, and the exits visible. You know, look, I'm not here to kick the folding table out from under the nice lady with the plastic pumpkin and the Costco chocolate. (22:33) God bless her. She showed up, which is more than half the neighborhood will do. But yeah, you're right. Trunk-or-treat is Halloween with the adventure surgically removed. It's a drive-through candy window with extra steps. (22:48) It's a parking lot pretending to be a neighborhood, and everybody's smiling because admitting that feels mean. You know, Halloween used to have a little weather in it, a little risk. You know, not real danger, just the kind that makes a kid feel 8 feet tall. (23:04) You know, you had a pillowcase, a flashlight with batteries weaker than the dying porch bug, and a curfew that amounted to when the good stuff runs out. Okay? You learned which porch had the motion skeleton. You learned which old man gave full-size bars, and which lady gave raisins like she was mad at your blood sugar personally. (23:21) You learned to cross the street, keep up with your friends, and not panic when somebody's older brother jumped out from behind a bush wearing a rubber mask that smelled like a tire fire. You know, now everything has cones, wristbands, and sign-up slots. (23:36) We took childhood and put it in a corral like it was a suspicious goat. And I get why. Everybody's tired. Everybody's busy. Every news story makes the world sound like a van with no windows. But kids do not become sturdy by being moved from safe station to safe station like luggage with sneakers. (23:57) You know, here's the move. You've got to go to the trunk or treat, smile, say thank you, let the kids admire the hatchback with the spider webs and the young pastor handing out peanut butter cups like he's running a blackjack table, okay? Then afterward, take them down to your own street. (24:14) Not 10 miles, not some cinematic quest, your street. Let them knock on three doors, five doors, I don't know. Let them feel that weird pause after the doorbell when the house kind of creaks and the porch light hums and they wonder what's coming. (24:31) Let them say the words to a real neighbor. Let them earn a little candy the old-fashioned way by walking through the dark with a bag getting heavier and a parent pretending not to hover from the sidewalk. You know, Halloween doesn't need to be dangerous, but it does need to feel like you've left the house. (24:49) Yes, yes. Thank you. Great job, Uncle Bobby. I completely agree. Well, good. You said it. Okay. Hey, if you missed any past Ask Uncle Bobby advice, you can find it all at TheBTeamShow.com or if you would like to see all the episodes and get your own exclusive Do Bob merch for the holidays, might be a good Christmas gift idea, visit DewBob.com, D-E-W-Bob.com. (25:14) By the way, we do Ask Uncle Bobby every weekday morning brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. And Bobby just got a payday from Hard Rock Bet because he knows how to bet on football. His Troy Trojans won him a net of $87 last night. (25:32) That is true. $10 turned into $97. When you decide you're just going to throw away $10, you get surprised sometimes. Was that like winning the lottery? You know, I've got to tell you, the whole game was going the way I thought it was going to go, for the most part. (25:50) And then all of a sudden in the third quarter, we brought it back and tied it. And I'm sitting there going, oh my God, oh my God. And then when they got close a couple of times, I'm like, ugh. And then we go into overtime and kept Jay Madison from scoring. I'm sitting there going, I swear to God. (26:07) Originally, we brought the field goal kicker in at 2-12, and I have no confidence in him. So I'm like, okay, well, whatever. This is it. I lost $10. Whatever. It was fun. It was fun. And then when I saw him get ready to kick it, I'm like, holy crap. (26:23) All he's got to do is put points on the board here, and we've won this game. And that's going to be a good payday. And it was. And it was. You should have put like a grand on it. You know what? That's what gets you every time. Because I thought, man, if I had to bet $100, I'd have nine. (26:41) You know what? I'm just going to keep it at $10 bets. It's 8.09 on this Friday morning. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell, the B Team Morning Show on the air, brought to you by Stripes, Oak, Galusa Gas, and OutKast Sushi in Miramar Beach. (26:56) Well, the Florida Division of Emergency Management says that FEMA individual assistance is now approved for the following counties of Scambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Bay, Gulf, Holmes, and Washington counties in the western panhandle. (27:13) Now, Florida Division of Emergency Management says this assistant provides critical federal resources to impacted Floridians for housing, home repairs, and other disaster-related needs. Residents can now apply at disasterassistance.gov. (27:30) That's disasterassistance.gov. And FEMA will verify eligibility and need before the assistance is offered. But I know some folks have been waiting on that major disaster declaration to come through from FEMA and the assistance there. (27:46) So now that is officially available and a thing. Oh, okay. There you go. There you have it. Hey, tomorrow night at La Sala Event Center in Navarre. This sounds like a fun event. If you're over there in the Navarre or Gulf Breeze area, the Time Warp Murder Mystery Experience called Rocky Horror is coming tomorrow night to La Sala Event Center, 3357 Highway 87 South of Navarre. (28:14) And it should be a lot of fun. It should be a great show. The evening includes dinner at a cash bar. Doors open at 6.30 tomorrow night. And the show starts at 7. We've got the link to buy your tickets at our website, thebteamshow.com. Just click on the Events tab. (28:29) But to the Rocky Horror Murder Mystery Experience tomorrow night at La Sala Event Center in Navarre. All right. Stay with us. We're in Hour 3 of the B Team Morning Show. Got the Scorpions and Molly Hatchet coming up in just a bit. (28:44) Right now, Genesis misunderstanding. It's 100.3 KROCK. 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell brought to you by Stripes, Pub & Grill in Navarre, Okaloosa Gas at Outkast Sushi at Miramar Beach. (29:00) It's a beautiful Friday morning here in Fort Walton Beach and all across our listening area. Gorgeous weather today, a high of 82 this afternoon. Right now, mostly sunny skies and 64 degrees. Quick reminder that we do fall back on Sunday. (29:17) So remember to set those clocks back Saturday night before you go to bed. Otherwise, you're going to be screwed up all day on Sunday. That is true. That's right. All right. Well, folks, why do always the best Florida man stories involve a Waffle House or a Popeye's? (29:34) Because that's how it got intended. A Florida man decided to break into a Popeye's restaurant then filmed himself pretending to be an employee taking an order. The man was caught on video breaking in through the drive-through window. (29:52) Now when officers arrive, well, he admitted to breaking into the restaurant and took a bottle of water. He then shared the video of himself Tending to take an order at the station, at the order station. Officers learned that, well, the man was drunk. Oh, who would have thought that? (30:08) Yeah, he was subsequently arrested and charged with burglarizing an occupied structure. So, there you go. All right, hey, we're going to take a break, pay a couple bills. We've got the second half of the eight o'clock hour coming up. More stories and events to get to as we work our way through the tail end of this work week together. (30:26) We appreciate you being right here with us on the B Team Morning Show with 100.3 KROCK. Local weather is next. There's the cult. She sells sanctuary. 100.3 KROCK, the classic rock station. It's Friday morning. (30:42) The B Team Morning Show is on the air. Schuyler Black and Bobby Dewrell. Quick reminder, tomorrow night, if you live on Brook Street or on Bay Drive near downtown Fort Walton Beach in that Elliot Point neighborhood, your roads will be shut down from 530 until 830 to allow for trick-or-treating. (31:02) That is probably the highest traffic trick-or-treating neighborhood in Fort Walton Beach. So, the city's shutting down those roads from 530 until 830 tomorrow night. So, if you live down there, just plan accordingly. Mm-hmm. Two of the biggest names in food delivery have now joined forces. (31:22) DoorDash announced plans to buy Instacart for approximately $17 billion, potentially giving customers access to more than 50,000 additional stores. The companies also plan to combine their DashPass and InstaPlus memberships into one subscription. (31:41) Now, it's unclear what that means as far as savings for subscribers, but the deal is not expected to be finalized until late 27 or early 28. So, we still got probably over a year to go on that. Well, that's a little bit of time to try to figure this out. Kind of is. Seems like a long time to close on an acquisition. (32:00) Hey, we're going to buy that place. There's the Allman Brothers in One Way Out. That's Allman, not Allmund. Yeah. Kids, when you get the Allmund joy tomorrow night in your bag of candy... It's what the brothers made. (32:16) No, it wasn't. It is. It's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Okay. The Allmund Brothers bring Allmund joy. Just like Buddy the Elf said, you sit on a throne of lies. Hey, tomorrow afternoon is the Hispanic Heritage Festival down at the Landing. (32:33) Yesterday, Bobby and I had Zulma from the Hispanic Heritage Festival Organization Committee come in and talk to us about this event. It starts at noon. It goes until 9 p.m. It sounds like a lot of fun. It's going to be an afternoon and evening of live performances, music, authentic food, artisan and business vendors, family fun for all ages, and an America 250 declaration and tribute in the middle of the afternoon. (33:01) So, it should be something for everyone out there, and it's free and open to the public. So, we invite you to get out there and take part in that. All right. We're minutes away from nine o'clock. Cruising through this Friday morning, we got one final hour of the show coming up. (33:19) What do we call that last hour these days? The Trish Hour. The Trish Hour. That's right. Yeah. The B Team Morning Show rolling on for another 60 minutes after we take a quick break. But first, Dan Diamond has a look at local news on 100.3 KROCK. Where do you think you're going? (33:38) Aerosmith and living on the edge just after eight, nine o'clock. I'm trying to take us back an hour. You get there somewhere. Yeah. Well, don't we fall back this weekend or is it next weekend? Good question. (33:54) No, we fall back on Sunday. Yeah, Sunday, I think. That's right. It's the first Sunday in November. Mm-hmm. So at 2 a.m. local time on a Sunday, your clocks will revert one hour to 1 a.m. So we'll get an extra hour of sleep and it'll be a little darker in the mornings, but we'll get an extra hour of sunlight in the afternoon. (34:20) So anyway. Huh? No, we don't. No. No, we don't. Exactly backwards. Opposite of that. It's like that, but not. It's like that, but just reversed. It's like that, but you're exactly wrong. Uh-huh. Yeah. Mornings will be brighter. (34:35) Sunsets will happen an hour earlier. That's why it gets dark at four o'clock and everyone gets frustrated. That's right. Okay. That's right. Now we're straight. Yeah. Yeah. You get there eventually. I do. It's cute. Thank you for suffering through this with me. Makes it easier when I've got- Folks, you see what I live with every morning. All the money raised on Sunday will benefit One Hopeful Place, an organization dedicated to helping local families in need. (38:49) And Bobby, I got a call from Lynn yesterday. She wanted to know what I was naming my chili. And I told her it's called Wendy's. Oh, yeah. After your grandma. Granny wasn't Wendy. And this ain't Dave Thomas Wendy's either. (39:05) But we're calling it Wendy's. So I don't want to put my name on it because if it sucks, I don't own that. All right. We're getting out of here in just about 15 minutes.
