Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

November 5 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

My company now requires us in the office three days a week, but they also switched to a desk reservation app. By 8:30 a.m., every usable spot is gone, and I have worked from a lobby chair, a phone room, and a cafeteria table next to a broken vending machine. My manager keeps saying being present matters, but nobody can tell me where I am supposed to be present. How do I push back without sounding like I just do not want to come in?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Commercial TV Broadcast Day

Commercial TV Broadcast Day is that special little moment on the calendar where we all pretend it’s normal to schedule our lives around a glowing rectangle that screams car deals, miracle diets, and courtroom drama at a volume designed to sandblast your soul. It’s a celebration of the noble tradition of “free” television—paid for by ads, sponsored by your attention span, and upheld by the sacred belief that you definitely need a third streaming service to watch the same six shows in a different order. Today we honor the broadcasters, the anchors with weather-brain, and the executives who can sell you shampoo during a tragedy without blinking. So pour yourself something reasonable, sit too close to the screen like it’s 1997, and let’s appreciate the medium that raised a whole generation to fear silence.
