Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

November 2 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

My manager added me to the office fun committee without asking. She says it will only take a few minutes a week, but now I’m being asked to plan a gratitude wall, a holiday lunch, and a birthday calendar with no budget. I already have a full workload and I don’t want to look like I’m not a team player, so how do I get out of becoming the unpaid morale person?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Broadcast Traffic Professionals Day

Broadcast Traffic Professionals Day is that magical little blip on the calendar where we pretend the people who schedule commercials aren’t holding the entire station together with spreadsheets, caffeine, and quiet rage. They’re the ones who make sure the car dealership screams at you at 7:20, the mattress place haunts you at 7:23, and somehow the lawyer shows up twice in the same break like a bad habit with a budget. It’s a holiday for the folks who can hear “we need to move that spot” and not immediately walk into the gulf. So yes, it’s absurd—like most things in radio—but if you like your paycheck arriving on time and your log not looking like a crime scene, you’ll show a little respect.
