Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

October 16 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

I'm 31, and I am exhausted from caring. About likes, about reviews, about how a text is going to land, about whether my apartment looks okay on camera. My boss is older; he is a Gen Xer and seems to float through life completely unbothered. What's the secret? Can I learn it, or is it something you had to have installed as a kid?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Boss Day

National Boss Day is that annual corporate smoke signal where everybody pretends the person approving your time-off requests is also a beloved mentor and not just a calendar obstacle with a password. It’s observed with a card, a lukewarm sheet cake, and compliments so forced you can hear HR clearing its throat in the distance. The whole thing runs on the same fuel as office coffee: obligation, denial, and a faint aftertaste of panic. And sure, it’s absurd—but like most workplace traditions, it’s less about celebration and more about reminding you who holds the keys to the thermostat and your sanity.
