Vikings Improve To 2-2 After Win Vs. Walton

Get The Coast— Fort Walton Beach earned a crucial 28-0 victory over Milton in its district opener, keeping the Vikings’ playoff hopes alive. After the offense started slowly, the defense immediately set the tone by stopping Milton on fourth down, leading to Elijah Donson’s 52-yard touchdown run. The game remained 7-0 at halftime as both defenses controlled the action, but Fort Walton Beach pulled away in the second half. Lavin McDaniel connected with Cannon Wilbur for a 22-yard touchdown, Donson added his second rushing score, and Bryson Gay returned a late fumble for another touchdown. The shutout improved the Vikings to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in district play, setting up an important home game against Walton next.

Okaloosa Co. Hosts Event To Commemorate 25th Anniversary Of 9/11/01

WEAR TV3— Okaloosa County held its Heroes and Patriots Festival at Bob Sikes Airport to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks while also celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Organized by the America 250 Commission, the family-friendly event honored military members, first responders, and law enforcement officers while giving community members an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11. The festival included live music, games, informational booths, free meals for the first 500 attendees, and activities for children, including the chance to learn how to operate drones. Local military leaders, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations participated by sharing information about their roles and the sacrifices made to protect the community.

Okaloosa County Choose Niceville Animal Clinic For South End Services

MidBay News— Okaloosa County commissioners have approved an agreement with Niceville Animal Clinic to provide animal sheltering and veterinary services in the unincorporated areas south of Eglin Air Force Base starting in September 2026. The new contract will replace the county’s nearly 20-year partnership with PAWS and includes a $4,000 monthly payment for sheltering, with total annual operating expenses expected to range from $120,000 to $180,000.

Niceville FD Asks For Public Input

MidBay News— The Niceville Fire Department is asking residents and people who work in Niceville to provide feedback as it develops a strategic plan for the next three to five years. The department has launched an online survey to learn more about the community’s needs, identify areas where it is performing well, and determine which priorities should receive attention in the future. Officials said the survey is the department’s first of its kind and should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Responses are anonymous unless participants choose to provide their contact information, and the feedback will be used to help improve the department’s operations and services.
