FWB Muni Golf Course Adds In New Tech On Driving Range

City Of Fort Walton Beach— The City of Fort Walton Beach is adding a new indoor Trackman Driving Range at the Fort Walton Beach Golf Club, with construction expected to begin in October 2026 and wrap up by November or December. The $320,000 project, funded through Okaloosa County Tourist Development Tax revenues, will convert the former Edwin Watts pro shop into a facility featuring five golf simulator bays. The indoor range is the second phase of the Golf Club’s Trackman upgrades, following the addition of 25 Trackman bays to the outdoor driving range last year. The technology uses radar, cameras and infrared sensors to provide detailed information on each shot, including distance, ball speed, launch angle, club data and even the exact point where the ball strikes the club face. Golfers will also be able to play virtual versions of famous courses such as Pebble Beach and Royal Troon, while the club’s Pines and Oaks courses are expected to be added to the Trackman system within 12 to 18 months. The indoor bays will be available in 30- or 60-minute sessions, with pricing expected to range from $20 to $60 per hour depending on demand, and golfers can use the Trackman app to track every shot and monitor their progress over time.

Crash Kills Man In Okaloosa County Wednesday

MyPanhandle.com— A man died following a single-vehicle crash in Okaloosa County near Airport Road and Fairchild Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon, with the vehicle traveling in the area before the crash. Authorities responded to the scene and investigated the circumstances surrounding the collision. The victim was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Sheriff Talks SWAT Tactics Used In Crestview Incident

WEAR TV3— A series of incidents preceded Saturday’s fatal confrontation between Okaloosa County deputies and 29-year-old Antonio Haner, according to the sheriff’s office. SWAT deputies used specialized tactics and an armored vehicle during the operation after authorities said Haner posed a threat. The investigation remains ongoing, with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement reviewing the deadly encounter.
