Navarre Beach Fire Is BROKE

WEAR TV3Navarre Beach Fire Rescue is seeking a $300,000 short-term loan from Santa Rosa County to help cover operating expenses, payroll, equipment payments, and insurance costs through November. Fire Chief Kanzigg said the department’s financial problems have grown over several years as expenses increased while revenues remained relatively flat, with a recent fee increase not taking effect until Oct. 1. The department has also been approved for a line of credit from Centennial Global Bank, but officials say borrowing from the county would save the $1,600 origination fee and keep interest payments local. County commissioners are expected to formally consider the request, with the fire department anticipating it can repay the loan in a lump sum within four to five months.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Vinyl Record Day

Vinyl Record Day is that annual moment we all pretend inconvenience is a personality: you buy a heavy black circle, clean it like it’s surgery, and then listen to music with the thrilling possibility of a dust bunny ruining the chorus. It’s a holiday dedicated to “warmth,” which is a romantic way of saying your audio has flaws you’ve decided to cuddle instead of fix. The faithful will tell you it’s about the ritual, the artwork, the crackle—like nostalgia’s a vitamin you can take with breakfast. So yes, we’re doing this again, and by the end of the day somebody’s going to swear their life changed because a needle dragged through plastic like it had something to prove.
