Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

August 4 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

My friend group is full of overachievers, and every hangout turns into a highlight reel of promotions, engagements, marathons, and side hustles. I am not even jealous, I just feel like I am falling behind. How do I stop feeling crushed every time we catch up?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Night Out

National Night Out is that one summer evening when America decides the best way to “build community” is to stand in a parking lot eating a hot dog that tastes like civic duty, while everyone pretends they totally recognize their neighbors. The cops roll up smiling, the kids climb on a cruiser like it’s Disneyland for taxpayer money, and the adults do that polite small talk dance where you learn three new first names and forget them before the ketchup dries. It’s wholesome, it’s awkward, it’s oddly comforting—like a family reunion where nobody’s fighting yet, but the folding chairs are already set up for it. Consider it the annual reminder that society is held together by grilled meat, free stickers, and the mutual agreement to act normal for exactly two hours.
