What We're Talking About

The news we couldn't ignore if we tried

Destin To Evaluate East Pass Signage

Get The CoastThe Destin City Council has directed city staff to evaluate and develop enhanced warning signage for the East Pass area to improve public safety following growing concerns about the area's dangerous tidal currents. Council members discussed the need for clearer, more visible warnings to alert beachgoers and boaters about the swift currents, particularly during outgoing tides, and considered additional safety measures such as strategically placed buoys. The effort follows the disappearance of 10-year-old Trinity Eslinger near East Pass and reflects the city's broader commitment to reducing risks in one of Destin's most hazardous waterways.

WCSO Releasing New Identifying Info On Wanted Murder Suspect

WEAR TV3The Walton County Sheriff's Office has released new identifying details in its search for 38-year-old murder suspect Isabelle Johnson, who has been on the run for about a month and is considered dangerous. Investigators said Johnson, who is wanted in connection with the death of 43-year-old Jason Christopher Coulthart, may have a rose or flower tattoo on her left hand, an unidentified tattoo on her right ankle, and a large scorpion tattoo extending from her left buttock down her left thigh. Authorities believe she may have changed her hair to disguise her appearance and continue to search for her with assistance from law enforcement agencies in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. A reward of up to $16,000 is being offered for information leading to her arrest.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Cousins Day

Cousins Day is that annual reminder the family tree has branches you haven’t climbed since flip phones were a thing, and somehow you’re still expected to act like blood chemistry equals friendship. It’s for texting the cousin you used to run wild with, scrolling past the ones who sell “wellness” online, and pretending you don’t remember the Thanksgiving incident that permanently banned crockpots. The whole premise is ridiculous on purpose: a holiday dedicated to the people who know your childhood secrets but don’t have the authority to ground you anymore. Call it a celebration, call it an obligation, call it whatever you want—just don’t show up empty-handed and start talking politics like you’re trying to get written out of the will.
