Temporary Traffic Shift Is Coming This Week To Brooks Bridge

Get The CoastDrivers traveling across Brooks Bridge should expect a temporary nighttime traffic shift this week as crews continue work on the ongoing Brooks Bridge Replacement Project. During overnight construction, westbound U.S. 98 traffic will be reduced to a single lane and briefly redirected onto the eastbound side of the roadway, while eastbound traffic will also be limited to one lane. The temporary configuration is designed to provide a safe work area for bridge construction, with law enforcement officers assisting traffic through the work zone. Normal traffic patterns will resume each morning, and motorists are encouraged to use caution, reduce speed, and anticipate minor delays during the overnight operations.

Pensacola Leaders Consider Curfew Following Weekend Chaos

WEAR TV3Pensacola city leaders are considering whether a youth curfew should be implemented or strengthened following a deadly downtown shooting and a series of disturbances involving large groups of unsupervised juveniles during the Fourth of July weekend. Officials say the violence, which left one person dead and several others injured, has prompted discussions about additional safety measures to reduce late-night disorder and protect residents and visitors. While no decisions have been made, city leaders emphasized that any potential curfew would be part of a broader effort that also includes increased law enforcement, community involvement, and parental responsibility to help prevent future incidents.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Dive Bar Day

National Dive Bar Day is that sweet little calendar lie where we pretend the corner joint with the sticky floor and the heroic neon sign is a cultural institution instead of a series of questionable decisions with a jukebox. It’s a salute to places where the drinks are honest, the lighting is dishonest, and the regulars know more about your hometown than your therapist ever will. You don’t “celebrate” it so much as you show up, tip like you’ve got manners, and let the bartender quietly judge your life while saving it. Call it nostalgia, call it community, call it a controlled burn for your dignity — either way, it’s on the schedule, so act like you meant to be there.
