What We're Talking About

The news we couldn't ignore if we tried

Trump Immediately Takes Action After Earthquakes In Venezuela

FoxNewsPresident Donald Trump said two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela caused what he described as a “devastating number of deaths,” warning that early reports from the disaster zone were grim. The quakes, which occurred seconds apart and caused widespread damage in and around Caracas, prompted the U.S. government to prepare a rapid humanitarian response. Trump said he had directed federal agencies to be ready to move quickly and pledged that the United States stood “ready, willing, and able” to assist Venezuela as rescue crews continued assessing casualties and damage.

New Daycare Center In FWB Opens At Freedom Tech Center

Get The CoastGrow With Us Learning Academy has opened a new childcare facility at Freedom Tech Center in Fort Walton Beach, expanding its capacity to serve up to 300 children from six weeks old through kindergarten, with after-school care available for children up to age 12. The 16,000-square-foot center was developed to help address the region’s growing need for childcare, particularly for military families and local workers. The academy, a locally founded company that already operates several locations across the Florida Panhandle, plans to provide infant care, preschool, VPK, kindergarten, and enrichment programs in a modern learning environment designed to support early childhood development through hands-on, age-appropriate education.

Intersection Beal Pkwy And First St In FWB Now Looks Different

Get The CoastDrivers in Fort Walton Beach will no longer be able to make left turns or travel straight through the intersection of Beal Parkway and First Street, as the city has converted the crossing to right-turn-only movements in an effort to improve safety and traffic flow. The change follows concerns about congestion and crashes at the busy intersection and is part of a broader plan to reduce conflict points along the corridor. New traffic signs and roadway markings have been installed, and motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes when accessing nearby neighborhoods and businesses.

World's Largest Swimming Lesson To Happen Today In Destin

Get The CoastBig Kahuna's Water & Adventure Park and Shipwreck Island Waterpark are set to participate in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, a global event aimed at promoting water safety and teaching lifesaving swim skills to children. The program will bring together young swimmers, instructors, and aquatic facilities around the world for a coordinated lesson designed to raise awareness about drowning prevention. DNA Solves Cold Case From Revolutionary War After 250 Years

WEAR TV3Advanced DNA analysis has helped historians and researchers solve one of the nation’s oldest cold cases by identifying an unknown soldier who fought in the American Revolutionary War. More than 250 years after his death, genetic genealogy and historical records were used to confirm the soldier’s identity, bringing long-awaited recognition to a man who had remained unnamed for centuries. The breakthrough highlights how modern forensic science is being applied to historical mysteries, allowing descendants, historians, and military researchers to connect the past with the present and honor individuals whose stories were lost to time.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Bomb Pop Day

National Bomb Pop Day is that little red-white-and-blue speed bump in the calendar where we all agree the peak of patriotism is a sticky rocket-shaped sugar tube melting down your wrist. It’s not a “holiday” so much as a group project in nostalgia, designed to make grown adults chase an ice cream truck like it’s offering youth, freedom, and a payment plan. You eat one, you feel eight years old for ten seconds, then you remember your knees hurt and your dentist drives a boat. And that’s the magic: for one day, we salute the flag by staining our shirts and pretending that counts as tradition.
