North Okaloosa Deals With Minor Flooding As Rivers Topple Banks

WEAR TV3Okaloosa County continues to experience flooding as the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur move through the region, slowing the drainage of stormwater and causing elevated river levels. County officials say the flooding is being driven not only by local rainfall but also by runoff from areas farther north, combined with onshore winds that push water back into bays and hinder rivers from draining efficiently. The Blackwater River crested at about 16.7 feet Sunday morning, while the Yellow River is expected to peak at 13.1 feet early Tuesday and the Shoal River crested Sunday afternoon before beginning to recede. Local officials opened an emergency shelter over the weekend as a precaution, though it was not needed. Residents are being urged to avoid driving or walking through floodwaters, as fast-moving water can quickly sweep away people and vehicles and may conceal damaged or washed-out roadways.

Officers responding to the crash near Eighth Avenue and Ferdon Boulevard reported detecting the smell of alcohol and observed signs of impairment during a DUI investigation. The driver, identified as Mechelle Prevoznik, later registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.048, which exceeds the legal limit for commercial drivers in Florida. No injuries were reported because the collision occurred at low speed, but authorities charged her with driving under the influence and six counts of child neglect without bodily harm before transporting her to the Okaloosa County Jail.

$1.4 Million Is All You Need For Retirement

USA TodayA recent USA Today report notes that Americans estimate they need roughly $1.4 million saved for a comfortable retirement, according to a survey, though this figure represents an average and is not a fixed goal for everyone. Financial experts point out that retirement needs vary widely depending on individual lifestyles, expenses, and income sources, so there is no universal savings target. Instead of focusing solely on a single dollar amount, they often suggest aiming to save about 10 times one’s annual salary by age 67 as a more practical benchmark. The article also stresses that even those who are behind on savings still have options, such as increasing contributions, postponing retirement, or adjusting future spending plans to improve their financial outlook.

Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

June 22 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

My boss is constantly on TikTok filming videos during work hours, and it is disrupting the team and leaving important decisions unresolved. I want to stay professional, but it is getting hard to keep things running when they are focused on going viral instead of managing. What should I do?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Stupid Guy Thing Day

Stupid Guy Thing Day is that sacred 24-hour window where grown men treat common sense like it’s optional equipment, then act shocked when the warranty doesn’t cover stupidity. It’s a celebration of bold plans, cheap tools, and the ancient belief that YouTube counts as training if you watch it at 1.5x speed. Nobody’s here to judge—mostly because everyone’s busy filming, holding a flashlight wrong, or saying “I’ve done this before” like that’s ever helped. Consider it a public service announcement disguised as a holiday: hide the ladders, secure the grill, and keep your phone charged, because somebody’s about to learn physics personally.
