Ribbon Cutting At New Soundside HS In Santa Rosa County

WEAR TV3A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday for the new Soundside High School in Santa Rosa County, giving students, staff, and families their first look at the campus before it opens on Aug. 10. The $132 million, three-story school was funded in part through proceeds from a half-cent sales tax and sits on 34 acres, with capacity for up to 1,800 students. About 600 freshmen and sophomores will attend during the first year, with upper grades added over the next two years. School officials said the new campus will help address overcrowding at existing high schools and provide room for future growth as the county continues to attract new residents and businesses.

WEAR TV3A 41-year-old Fort Walton Beach man has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Texas Tech QB Given Eligibilty To Play After Wagering $90,000

ESPNTexas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby has been granted a temporary injunction that allows him to play college football this season despite the NCAA previously ruling him ineligible for sports betting violations. Sorsby reportedly wagered about $90,000 over four years, including 40 bets involving Indiana football while he was a freshman on the team in 2022. After the NCAA denied Texas Tech’s appeal to restore his eligibility, a judge determined that preventing him from playing would cause probable and irreparable harm. Under the court order, Sorsby must sit out the first two games of the season and continue counseling and treatment related to gambling and anxiety disorders.

Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

June 10 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

I was ghosted for a few weeks, and now they suddenly texted me like nothing happened. I feel irritated but also curious. Should I respond, ignore it, or do something to keep my dignity?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Black Cow Day

National Black Cow Day is that rare civic occasion where we all pretend a root beer float needs a federal holiday, like the Founding Fathers died for vanilla ice cream and carbonation. You take root beer, you drop in a scoop of vanilla, and you call it a “Black Cow” because America loves a nickname that makes no sense but sounds like tradition. The point isn’t sophistication; the point is a cold sugar-bomb that tastes like summer and bad decisions you’ll defend in court. So mark your calendar, loosen your belt, and prepare to celebrate the kind of wholesome nonsense that starts in a soda fountain and ends in you asking yourself why you own three different kinds of sprinkles.
