Construction Beginning Near Cinco Bayou Bridge
Get The Coast— Crews have started drainage improvements near Cinco Bayou as part of FDOT’s $11.6 million Eglin Parkway resurfacing project, which stretches from U.S. 98 to Richbourg Avenue in Shalimar. NY Post— What began as a fun night at Missouri’s Pointfest music festival ended in tragedy after 28-year-old Danielle Uskiwich died from injuries caused when a crowd surfer accidentally kicked her in the head during a May 16 performance by the band Sleep Theory near St. Louis. Initially believing she was fine, Danielle later developed severe headaches and was hospitalized, where doctors discovered a brain bleed that led to two strokes and emergency surgery for extensive bleeding and blood clots. NY Post— Mike Chitwood is warning parents that they could face criminal charges if their children participate in destructive “teen takeovers,” referring to large gatherings that have recently led to fights, vandalism, assaults, and other dangerous behavior across parts of Florida. Chitwood said some events have drawn hundreds of teens to beaches, parking lots, and shopping centers, causing significant disruptions and property damage. He noted that parents who knowingly allow the behavior or fail to properly supervise minors could face charges such as contributing to the delinquency of a minor or be held financially liable for damages. The sheriff also cautioned teens that arrests and lasting criminal records could result from participating, adding that law enforcement plans to take a more aggressive approach to stopping future gatherings before they escalate.
