Dems Throw Support Behind AOC For 2028 Presidential Run

YahooThe 2028 presidential race is beginning to take shape, with a new poll highlighted by USA Today showing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez leading early Democratic contenders and Marco Rubio emerging as the Republican frontrunner ahead of Vice President JD Vance. Rubio’s rise is reportedly tied to his increased visibility within the Trump administration and growing support from MAGA voters, while Ocasio-Cortez continues gaining traction among progressive Democrats despite not officially entering the race. She recently fueled speculation about a possible run by saying her goal is to “change the country,” not simply hold a title. Still, with the election cycle in its early stages, figures like Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, and Vance remain widely viewed as strong potential contenders for 2028.

Americans are Spending Their Higher Tax Refunds on Basics Versus Luxury Items

NY PostAmericans may be receiving larger tax refunds this year, with the average refund rising to about $2,825 from roughly $2,300 last year, but most are using the extra money to cover basic expenses rather than splurge on nonessentials. A new survey found that nearly half of taxpayers have already spent their refunds on necessities such as monthly bills, groceries, and paying down credit card debt, while only a small percentage planned to use the funds for discretionary purchases like clothing, entertainment, or dining out. The study also revealed that many people feel increasingly reliant on tax refunds to manage the higher cost of living, with some attributing larger refunds to working additional hours, receiving raises, or benefiting from tax law changes involving overtime, tips, and other deductions. Overall, the findings suggest tax refunds are serving more as financial relief for struggling households than as extra spending money.

McDonald’s Video Shows Worker Stuff Fries in Her Mouth Then Handing Carton To Customer

NY PostA viral video from a McDonald's in Massachusetts allegedly shows an employee putting french fries in her mouth before placing them back into a customer’s fry container while joking to the camera, as another worker laughs in the background. The clip quickly sparked outrage online and prompted an investigation by the Southbridge Police Department and the local Board of Health to determine whether the contaminated fries were actually served. The franchise owners said the employees involved were immediately fired, calling the behavior unacceptable and a violation of company food safety policies, while health officials reportedly found no wider public health concerns at the restaurant.

Holiday #1 of 4

Frog Jumping Day

Frog Jumping Day is that annual civic ritual where otherwise employed adults gather to watch amphibians do cardio, then argue about it like it’s the stock market. You slap a name on a frog, give it a pep talk like it pays rent, and measure its hops with the kind of precision we refuse to apply to budgets, relationships, or basic cholesterol. Somewhere between the bait bucket and the bragging rights, the whole town remembers it’s still capable of joy, noise, and questionable decisions in sunlight. And that, my friends, is how you end up cheering for a frog like it’s your retirement plan.
