250 Parade In Crestview Has Been Postponed Until September

The B Team ShowAs excitement built across Okaloosa County for the much-anticipated America's 250 Grand Parade, organizers made the difficult but thoughtful decision to reschedule the celebration until Saturday, September 12th after forecasters warned of heavy rain and strong storms expected to move through the area this weekend. While families, veterans, marching bands, and local businesses are disappointed to put away their red, white, and blue decorations a little longer, community leaders emphasized that safety came first and promised the extra time would only make the patriotic celebration even more memorable when the streets of downtown Crestview finally fill with music, waving flags, classic cars, and neighbors gathered together under hopefully sunnier skies.

Sorry, The 28 Year Old Can't Attend High School

BronxRiverNewsA 28-year-old woman is facing charges after prosecutors say she posed as a teenager to enroll at Westchester Square Academy in New York City. Authorities allege that Kacy Claassen used the false identity “Shamara Rashad” and claimed to be a 16-year-old recent arrival from Ohio, allowing her to attend classes and interact closely with actual students. Some students later reported feeling uncomfortable after she allegedly made disturbing remarks about “hiding bodies.” Investigators say the deception was uncovered when the school principal discovered Claassen’s Facebook profile displaying her real name and birthdate, and prosecutors claim she later admitted to lying about her identity, saying a friend encouraged the scheme in hopes of obtaining additional public assistance benefits. Claassen has pleaded not guilty to charges including child endangerment, criminal impersonation, and trespassing.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Make-A-Book Day

Make-A-Book Day is that annual reminder that the human race will glue anything to anything and call it “a story,” then act surprised when it has feelings. You take paper, staples, and whatever thoughts you’ve been dodging all year, and you crank out a homemade book like you’re Benjamin Franklin with a craft-store coupon. It’s wholesome, sure—right up until you realize you’re one glitter pen away from writing your own manifesto about dragons, divorce, or both. The point isn’t literary greatness; it’s proving you can still make something real in a world that mostly makes excuses.
