Pensacola Travelers Forced To Adjust Travel After Spirit Folds

WEAR TV3Spirit Airlines abruptly shut down operations Saturday morning after failing to secure roughly $500 million needed to stay afloat, leaving thousands of passengers nationwide scrambling to rebook travel. At Pensacola International Airport, notices informed travelers that all flights were canceled and no customer service was available, catching many off guard—including Coast Guard member Jared Parker, who was headed to New York, and Navy veteran Samuel Webber, who criticized the lack of warning. Others, like Kyone Johnson, are dealing with stranded relatives, including a cousin stuck in the Caribbean now facing high rebooking costs and uncertainty about accommodations. While the airline says most passengers will be reimbursed, the sudden closure is expected to cause widespread travel disruptions.

Crestview Bypass Has Officially Opened

Get The CoastOkaloosa County officials celebrated the opening of the $212 million Southwest Crestview Bypass, a 3.5-mile, four-lane roadway more than two decades in the making that is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in north Okaloosa County. The project, which officially opened to drivers at noon following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, connects key routes including Antioch Road, State Road 85, and U.S. Highway 90, and features sidewalks, a multi-use path, and a nearly one-third-mile-long bridge. First initiated in the early 2000s and supported by a 2016 voter-approved half-cent sales tax and a $64.1 million Triumph Gulf Coast grant, construction began in 2020 and continued through the COVID-19 pandemic. Officials emphasized the bypass as both a transportation upgrade and an economic driver, noting it has already helped meet job creation goals tied to the project while improving access to new developments like Pineview School, and they described it as the beginning of broader infrastructure improvements for the Crestview area rather than the end of the effort.

Starbucks CEO Shows Whole World What A Moron He Is

Wall Street Apes - XStarbucks’ CEO defended the idea of a $9 coffee by arguing that customers aren’t just paying for the drink itself, but for the overall experience the brand provides, framing it as an “affordable premium” treat. He acknowledged that the price can feel like a splurge for some, but said that makes it even more important for Starbucks to deliver a worthwhile and special experience for customers across income levels—remarks that some critics view as disconnected from everyday consumer concerns about rising costs.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Star Wars Day

Star Wars Day is May 4th, the annual group therapy session where grown adults pretend a pun is a religion and then act surprised when their bank account looks like a Jawa picked it clean. People dust off plastic lightsabers, argue about which movies “count” like it’s constitutional law, and post the same memes with the confidence of a man who’s never met shame. Brands climb aboard because nothing says “authentic fandom” like a fast-food chain selling you destiny in a combo meal. It’s ridiculous on purpose, and that’s the point—one day a year we all agree to live in a galaxy far, far away, mostly because real life has worse writing.
