Local Law Enforcement Takes Kenwood Suspect Into Custody On Wednesday

City of Fort Walton Beach— On April 29, 2026, the Fort Walton Beach Police Department responded to a critical incident involving an armed, suicidal man encountered in the roadway near Mooney Road NE and Windsor Lane NE. After initially threatening self-harm with a knife, the man fled into a residence, later emerging with a firearm and continuing to pose a danger to himself. Officers established a perimeter and began negotiations, with specialized county teams taking over after about two hours. When the man attempted to breach the perimeter, officers used less-lethal force and a K9 unit to safely take him into custody. He was transported for medical evaluation, and temporary road closures and school lockdowns enacted during the incident have since been lifted, with no ongoing threat to the public.

Niceville Fire Chief Alex Kukulus emphasized that prioritizing proximity over boundaries can be critical in life-or-death situations, noting that previously, farther units sometimes responded to calls even when closer crews were nearby. While the change may slightly shift call volumes among agencies, officials and residents widely support the approach as a practical way to enhance public safety across south Okaloosa County.

$80,000 Mac & Cheese Scheme Exposed In Lonestar State

NY Post— A former Chick-fil-A employee in Texas, Keyshun Jones, is accused of orchestrating an unusual $80,000 scam by repeatedly sneaking back into the restaurant after being fired, creating fake orders—mostly for mac and cheese—and issuing refunds to his own credit cards more than 800 times. The fraud was discovered when the store flagged a high number of suspicious refunds and reviewed surveillance footage, leading to his arrest. He now faces charges including theft, money laundering, and evading arrest, and could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

When the Grant County officer arrived, he found not just one animal, but an entire escape crew: chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and goats all roaming loose.
