$50 For A Movie?!?

Wall Street Journal— The idea of a $50 movie ticket has arrived—but mainly for premium opening-night experiences. Regal recently priced top-tier 70mm IMAX seats for “Dune: Part Three” at $50, and they reportedly sold out quickly, reflecting a growing strategy where theaters charge devoted fans more for high-end showings, similar to pricing models used by airlines and hotels. This doesn’t mean standard tickets cost that much across the board; average ticket prices remain around $12.75, while premium large-format screenings average about $18 nationwide and can exceed $30 in major cities, often with added fees. Meanwhile, concession spending has also increased, with per-person snack purchases at some chains climbing from about $5 before the pandemic to roughly $9.

You'll Need To Reserve Your Spot At Henderson Beach State Park

WEAR TV3— In Henderson Beach State Park, visitors will soon face a new requirement: starting May 15, anyone planning a trip must pre-register for a day-use pass before entering, a move aimed at reducing long lines and congestion at the entrance. While standard access policies remain, not everyone supports the change—longtime resident Connie Perkins, who has visited the park for 25 years and holds a city beach pass, says the reservation system takes away the spontaneity of beach visits and could frustrate both locals and tourists. The day-use passes can be booked up to 60 days in advance, and Destin beach passholders can use a special promo code, DESTINPASS, to waive the daily fee, but they must present their valid pass at the gate along with the reservation or risk being denied entry.
