What We're Talking About

The news we couldn't ignore if we tried

1st Round Of NFL Draft Complete, More Draft Picks Continue Today

ESPNThe 2026 NFL Draft began Thursday night in Pittsburgh, marking the fourth consecutive year a quarterback was taken first overall. The Las Vegas Raiders selected Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza, fresh off a Heisman-winning season in which he led the program to its first national championship. The New York Jets followed by drafting Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey at No. 2, while the Arizona Cardinals picked Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love third overall. One of the night’s biggest surprises came at No. 13, when the Los Angeles Rams chose quarterback Ty Simpson, signaling a potential future replacement for veteran Matthew Stafford amid his ongoing contract extension discussions. Ohio State had a major presence early in the draft, producing four of the top 11 picks: wide receiver Carnell Tate went to the Tennessee Titans at No. 4, edge rusher Arvell Reese to the New York Giants at No. 5, linebacker Sonny Styles to the Washington Commanders at No. 7, and safety Caleb Downs was selected No. 11 by the Dallas Cowboys after they traded up with the Miami Dolphins.

Here Come The Expensive Condoms

CBS NewsThe world’s largest condom manufacturer says prices could rise by 20% to 30% as the Iran war increases the cost of oil-based materials such as synthetic rubber, lubricants, and packaging. Malaysia-based Karex Berhad, which produces for major brands like Durex and Trojan, also cited supply chain disruptions and shipping delays as added pressures. At the same time, demand has surged by about 30%, driven in part by lower global stockpiles and increased contraceptive use during periods of uncertainty. While Karex says it currently has sufficient supply, it warns that prices could climb further if disruptions persist.

"Mary Jane" Gets New Title In Drug Classifications

AP NewsThe Trump administration on Thursday signed an order to reclassify marijuana, shifting it from the highly restrictive Schedule I category to the less stringent Schedule III classification to ease regulations on cannabis research. While the change does not legalize marijuana or eliminate criminal penalties for its use or possession, it moves the drug out of the same category as heroin—previously defined as having high abuse potential and no accepted medical use—into a category that acknowledges potential medical applications. The decision follows a December executive order from President Donald Trump aimed at expanding research into medical marijuana.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Pigs-in-a-Blanket Day

National Pigs-in-a-Blanket Day is that proud moment on the calendar where we stop pretending we’re above snack food and publicly honor the tiny meat missile wrapped in dough like it’s wearing a tuxedo. It’s not a “holiday” so much as a permission slip to eat six of them standing over the sink and call it a celebration. Families will gather, offices will “potluck,” and somebody’s gonna bring the fancy version with everything bagel seasoning like that fixes their personality. Consider it the opening bell for a long season of bad decisions with good seasoning.
