New Car Average Price Jumps To Nearly $50,000

WPTVThe average cost of a new vehicle is approaching $50,000—an increase of about 30% over the past six years—while monthly payments have risen to roughly $775, placing growing strain on middle-class buyers. Much of the surge is driven by automakers focusing on pricier SUVs and trucks, phasing out more affordable models, and adding advanced technology and safety features that push prices even higher. As a result, budget-friendly cars are becoming scarce, with vehicles under $30,000 now accounting for only about 13% of the market, a sharp decline from recent years. To manage costs, many buyers are extending loan terms to six or seven years, opting for used vehicles, or keeping their current cars longer, though even used car prices remain relatively high.

Deputies reported many animals lacked proper food and water and showed clear signs of neglect. The animals were removed on March 25 with assistance from the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), and a veterinarian determined they had suffered prolonged neglect causing significant harm. Evaluations revealed issues such as parasite infestations, heartworm disease, malnourishment, dehydration, untreated injuries, chronic conditions, and a donkey with painful hoof infections due to unsanitary conditions. All of the rescued animals are currently receiving care and treatment.
