Former Fort Bragg Employee Charged With Espionage

FoxNewsA former Fort Bragg employee, 40-year-old Courtney Williams, is facing federal charges for allegedly leaking classified military information to a journalist. Prosecutors claim that, despite holding top-secret clearance, Williams shared sensitive details—such as tactics used by elite military units—over several years through phone calls, text messages, and documents. Some of this information later appeared in a book and various articles about Fort Bragg, with portions deemed to involve national defense. Williams has been charged under the Espionage Act, which prohibits the unauthorized disclosure of classified information.

Gulf Breeze Tells Teens To Stop Car Surfing

WEAR TV3City officials in Gulf Breeze, Florida are urging residents to help curb dangerous behavior after a high school student was caught on camera “vehicle surfing” in the busy Shoreline Park parking lot on Tuesday. The footage shows a person standing in the bed of a moving red truck with their arms outstretched, while a separate incident involved another student “hood surfing” on a moving sedan. The area, which connects schools, the library, City Hall, and other public facilities, typically sees heavy traffic, including cars, e-bikes, and e-motos. City Manager Samantha Abell emphasized the importance of safety, noting the constant presence of students traveling through the park. In response, the city is encouraging parents to talk with their children about the dangers of riding on moving vehicles, the risks of reckless behavior in parking lots, and the need to follow traffic rules and stay alert, while also asking residents to report unsafe activity.

Americans Continue To Spend $22 On Smoothies

The IndependentDespite widespread complaints about the economy, people are still willing to spend over $20 on smoothies, driven by a trend likened to the “lipstick index,” where consumers cut back on major expenses but continue to indulge in smaller luxuries. In this case, that indulgence has shifted from cosmetics to upscale food, with pricey smoothies feeling more affordable compared to big-ticket items like vacations or wellness retreats. These purchases also come with a sense of justification, as premium foods are often marketed as healthy, organic, or sustainable, allowing buyers to view them as a form of self-care rather than an unnecessary splurge.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Gin and Tonic Day

National Gin and Tonic Day is that precious little calendar excuse where grown adults pretend a lime wedge counts as self-care and the word “tonic” makes it sound like you’re doing something medicinal. It’s a salute to the drink that tastes like a pine tree got into a bar fight with a chemistry set, then cleaned itself up just enough to pass in polite company. Nobody’s here to ask why this needs a day—everyone’s here because the day gives them permission to stop pretending they weren’t already thinking about it. So hydrate responsibly, if that phrase still means anything to you.
