NASA Astronauts (Artemis II Crew) Talks to From Space: Their Journey So Far and What's Ahead

ABC NewsThe astronauts of NASA’s Artemis II mission say their upcoming flight is about far more than reaching the Moon—it’s a crucial step in demonstrating that humans can travel deeper into space and remain there for longer periods. In interviews with ABC News, the four-member crew explained that the roughly 10-day journey around the Moon and back will serve as a test run for future exploration, marking the first time in over 50 years that humans venture beyond low-Earth orbit. They stressed that the mission is not simply for observation, but a key milestone toward establishing a sustained human presence on the Moon, while also sharing lightheartedly that adjusting to sleep in space has been challenging, joking that they’ve managed on just two short naps and that “sleeping in space is a comical thing.”

Bad advice for good people.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

World Party Day

World Party Day lands on April 3rd like a glitter bomb in a library: technically unnecessary, weirdly optimistic, and impossible to fully clean up. The whole premise is that if enough people throw a party—yes, on purpose—we might accidentally stumble into world peace, or at least stop doom-scrolling long enough to remember we have knees. It’s a holiday built on the radical theory that joy is contagious and strangers aren’t always a threat, which is adorable in the same way a toddler thinks a cape grants invincibility. So consider this your official permission slip to be social, slightly irresponsible, and just hopeful enough to scare yourself.
