Controversial FLOCK Cameras Help Recover Stolen Truck In Niceville

WEAR TV3— In Okaloosa County, a license plate reader alert led deputies with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office to recover a stolen blue Ford F-150 in Niceville and arrest the driver on theft and drug charges. Authorities conducted a traffic stop near Highway 285 and College Boulevard after receiving a FLOCK alert on the vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Valparaiso when it was not returned to a rental company. The driver, 49-year-old Eric Davis, was taken into custody, and a search of the truck uncovered a small amount of methamphetamine. He now faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, with assistance provided by Northwest Florida State College Public Safety.

Details Released On Air Canada Crash At LaGuardia

NY Post— The federal investigation into Sunday night’s deadly collision between a jet and a firetruck at LaGuardia Airport is expected to take time, but newly released audio reveals tense moments before and after the crash, including a controller admitting, “I messed up.” The firetruck had been cleared to cross a runway while responding to a separate emergency on another aircraft, but controllers quickly realized the danger and repeatedly ordered it to stop. About 20 minutes after the Air Canada plane struck the truck at roughly 100 mph, audio captured a conversation between a controller and a Frontier Airlines pilot, who said the incident was difficult to watch, while the controller expressed regret over the error. The crash killed the Air Canada pilot and co-pilot and injured dozens of the 70 passengers on board, most of whom were released from hospitals by Monday morning.

NY Post— A Northern California man, 28-year-old Cristian Solorio, has been sentenced to six years and eight months in state prison after being convicted of stalking a woman for months and breaking into her Modesto home to assault her while she slept. Authorities said Solorio became fixated on the victim after seeing her at work, repeatedly following her, and in May allegedly entered her home and licked and bit her toes. The victim managed to keep him calm until family members arrived and called 911. Prosecutors also noted that Solorio faces separate federal drug-trafficking charges.
