ICE Agents Now Assisting TSA Agents In Airports Across The Country

PoliticoPresident Trump announced that starting today, ICE agents will be deployed to assist at U.S. airports due to extremely long security lines caused by the ongoing Homeland Security funding shutdown. With thousands of TSA workers going unpaid, many have called in sick or quit, resulting in significant delays. The administration stated that ICE agents will handle tasks like crowd control and guarding exits, allowing TSA agents to focus on screening, but won’t operate X-ray machines or perform specialized security duties. This move is controversial, with critics, including unions and lawmakers, arguing that ICE agents aren’t trained for airport security and could create a sense of insecurity or politicize operations. The plan is also tied to broader debates over immigration policy and federal funding.

Former NWFSC Player Leads Iowa Past Gators, On To Sweet 16

ESPN/APIn a dramatic finish, Alvaro Folgueiras hit a game-winning 3-pointer with just 4.5 seconds left, securing Iowa's 73-72 upset victory over defending national champion Florida in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday. The win sent the top-seeded Gators home and sent Iowa to its first Sweet 16 appearance since 1999 under first-year coach Ben McCollum. Iowa (23-12), the No. 9 seed, overcame a 12-point second-half lead collapse to become the first No. 9 seed to beat a No. 1 seed since 2018. Despite a late layup by Florida's Xaivian Lee putting the Gators ahead, Iowa stayed composed, with Bennett Stirtz scoring and setting up Folgueiras for the game-winning shot. Florida's coach Todd Golden credited Iowa’s physicality and performance, while Stirtz and Folgueiras emphasized their unselfish play and determination. Iowa now faces Nebraska in the South Region semifinals. The game also featured a brief scuffle between Folgueiras and Florida’s Alex Condon, resulting in technical fouls, but it didn’t slow Iowa’s momentum as they stunned the Florida-heavy crowd in Tampa.

Politics Makes Us Dumber

Psychology TodayPolitics doesn’t just divide people—it can distort our thinking and make us less rational. Once our political identity becomes ingrained, we tend to prioritize loyalty to our group over objective facts or truth. This happens in part due to "motivated reasoning," where we form beliefs first and then seek out arguments to support them, rather than evaluating evidence impartially. Over time, this leads to mental tunnel vision, making opposing views seem unreasonable. Politics also encourages "cheerleading" behavior, where individuals defend questionable claims simply to stay loyal to their side, especially when social rewards for group allegiance are high. To think more clearly, it's helpful to step back from polarized environments, consume diverse information, and actively seek out opposing perspectives, which can prevent falling into biased, rigid thought patterns.
