Apple To Add 8 New Emojis In Next iOS Update

NY PostApple is introducing eight new emojis in an upcoming iOS update, approved by the Unicode Consortium and set to appear across major platforms with slight design variations. The additions include a landslide symbol for natural disasters, a trombone for music references, a treasure chest representing wealth or hidden rewards, a ballet dancer in mid-pose, an orca for ocean and wildlife themes, a comic-style “fight cloud” to show chaos or scuffles, and a Bigfoot-like hairy creature referencing Sasquatch. The most talked-about addition is the “distorted face” emoji, a warped expression that has already sparked debate online, with some fans connecting it to a past Apple ad controversy and predicting it could quickly become one of the most widely used icons once released.

What Your Favorite Alcoholic Drink Says About You, According to Science

DailyMailA recent study analyzing thousands of online wine reviews with artificial intelligence suggests that a person’s preferred alcoholic drink may reflect certain personality traits. Researchers found that people who favor higher-alcohol beverages—such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Port, or Sherry—tend to score higher in openness and agreeableness, possibly because they are drawn to richer, more complex flavors that feel novel and socially prestigious. In contrast, those who prefer lighter options like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, or Prosecco were more likely to display traits linked to extraversion or neuroticism, which may indicate a preference for drinks that allow longer socializing without heavy intoxication. While experts stress that these trends are general patterns rather than firm predictors of personality, popular stereotypes still persist—for example, tequila drinkers are often seen as fun and party-loving, whisky fans as rugged and confident, and wine enthusiasts as elegant and sophisticated.

Your Fingers and Your Sexuality?

DailyMailA recent study suggests that the relative length of the index and ring fingers—known as the “digit ratio” (2D:4D)—may provide subtle clues about sexual orientation because finger proportions are influenced by hormone exposure before birth. The ratio, shaped by prenatal testosterone and estrogen levels, typically shows men having shorter index fingers compared with their ring fingers, while women’s fingers are usually closer in length. Researchers observed patterns indicating that gay men may have slightly more “female-typical” ratios and lesbian women slightly more “male-typical” ratios, hinting at possible hormonal influences during fetal development. However, scientists emphasize that these differences are small and cannot reliably determine someone’s sexuality, noting that sexual orientation is influenced by a complex mix of biological and environmental factors, and finger length alone cannot define a person’s identity.

Man Arrested After Stealing More Than $500K Worth of Onions & Potatoes

WTSPA Florida man is facing federal charges after prosecutors say he carried out a scheme to steal truckloads of vegetables worth more than $600,000. Investigators allege that 39-year-old Jason Canals of Spring Hill posed as legitimate businesses to place wholesale orders for onions and potatoes, then redirected the shipments while they were in transit and never paid for them. Authorities also say he sometimes used fake paperwork to make it appear the orders had already been paid. Federal officials estimate the total losses, including transportation costs, exceeded $600,000, and Canals now faces eight counts of transporting stolen property across state lines, charges that could bring up to 10 years in federal prison if he is convicted.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

World Kidney Day

World Kidney Day is that annual reminder your insides are doing unpaid overtime while you’re out here treating your body like a rental car with “full coverage.” It’s a day to talk about kidney health—hydration, blood pressure, diabetes, screenings—the boring stuff that keeps you from learning what dialysis smells like at 6 a.m. They’re small organs with big attitudes: they filter your blood, balance your fluids, and quietly clean up the mess you keep making on purpose. So yeah, it’s absurd we need a calendar event to remember we own kidneys, but here we are—consider this your official notice before your body starts sending invoices.
