Study: The Least Informed Are Often the Most Confident

PsyPostA study found people with the least political knowledge are often the most confident in their beliefs. Researchers say the pattern shows how overconfidence can grow when people think they understand facts better than they actually do.

Elon Musk Richest Man In The World By A Long Shot

ForbesElon Musk has once again been ranked the world’s richest person, holding an enormous lead over other billionaires. His net worth is estimated at around $839 billion—about $582 billion more than the second-richest individual—driven largely by rising valuations of Tesla and SpaceX, as well as a broader surge in AI-focused technology stocks. Newbie To P'cola Hasn't Received Her Belonging From Moving Company

WEAR TV3A Pensacola woman says a moving company promised immediate delivery of her belongings but is now telling her it could take up to a month. Renata Rangel, who recently moved with her family from Tennessee to Pensacola, says they have been sleeping on the floor for nearly two weeks while waiting for their furniture and boxes after Value Added Moving picked them up. The company had originally assured her the items would be delivered right away, but she says the apartment remains empty while they hold beds, dressers, clothes, decorations, and more than $600 worth of her court reporting equipment. Rangel believes the low price offered by a salesman should have been a warning sign and says she was pressured to sign a contract quickly with a promise of a 72-hour cancellation window. The Better Business Bureau serving Northwest Florida notes that high-pressure tactics can signal a potential scam and advises customers to carefully track their items, which Rangel says she did. Despite calling multiple numbers for the company, she says she has received no clear explanation or delivery timeline and has even considered retrieving the items herself, though she claims the company will not tell her where her belongings are located.

Hundreds of Strangers Show up for Funeral of Navy Veteran in Tennessee

FoxNewsA U.S. Navy veteran in Tennessee who had no known family was expected to be buried alone, but the community came together to ensure that didn’t happen. When organizers learned that Lonnie D. Wayman’s body had gone unclaimed, they invited the public to attend his funeral at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, and hundreds of strangers, veterans, and local residents showed up to pay their respects. Wayman was laid to rest with full military honors, including prayers and a tribute to his service in the United States Navy. A representative from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs told the crowd that the label “unclaimed veteran” no longer applied, as the overwhelming turnout proved the community had come together to honor and claim him as one of their own, turning what could have been a lonely burial into a powerful display of respect.

Florida Man Steals Amazon Delivery Van Because He Was Annoyed

Fox35A 64-year-old man in Florida is facing serious charges after allegedly jumping into an Amazon delivery van and driving away while the driver was still inside because he was frustrated that the vehicle was blocking the road. Authorities say the man first yelled at the delivery driver to move the van, but when the driver replied that he would move it shortly, the suspect climbed into the driver’s seat and took off. The driver reportedly chased the van and entered through the cargo door in an attempt to stop it, but the sudden movement caused him to brace himself and he was struck by a package rack before the vehicle came to a stop. Investigators later identified the suspect through video footage and arrested him, and he now faces grand theft and kidnapping charges because the driver was still inside the van when it was taken.

I feel stuck in my career while people with less skill keep getting promoted. I know I need to self-promote more, but it feels uncomfortable and fake. How do I do it without feeling shameless?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Dream Day

Dream Day is that annual little civic experiment where everybody pretends their half-baked fantasies deserve a parade, a spreadsheet, and a motivational speech from someone who still can’t fold a fitted sheet. You write down “the dream,” say it out loud like it’s legally binding, and spend the day acting like the universe is a customer service desk that owes you a refund. There’s optimism everywhere—aggressive, unearned optimism—mixed with just enough guilt to keep you from admitting your dream is mostly a nap with branding. It’s absurd, sure, but it’s also revealing, because nothing shows you who a person really is like watching them chase a miracle with a calendar reminder and a snack bag.
