Pensacola Makes Headlines For Brawl At Sun Belt Women's Basketball Tourney

WEAR TV3During the Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, South Alabama Jaguars women's basketball defeated the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers women's basketball 80–70 after a chaotic brawl broke out with about 5½ minutes remaining in the game. Fans said the fight began when Tracey Hueston of Coastal Carolina allegedly threw a punch at South Alabama’s Cordasia Harris, prompting players and officials to rush the court to separate them, during which a referee reportedly fell and hit her head and required medical attention. Eight players were ejected—one from Coastal Carolina and seven from South Alabama—but the Jaguars still secured the win and advanced in the tournament. Following the incident, the Sun Belt Conference suspended three South Alabama players for one game and ruled that Hueston would miss the remainder of the season, while both teams’ coaches described the altercation as unfortunate and expressed hopes that it would serve as a learning experience for the players.

Young and Dumb: Navarre Man Makes TikTok About Fleeing From Cops

WEAR TV3An 18-year-old from Navarre, Florida, Derrick Walker, was arrested in Santa Rosa County, Florida after deputies say videos he posted on the TikTok platform showed him fleeing from law enforcement during multiple high-speed chases. According to an arrest report, a deputy attempted to stop a black Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle speeding on Feb. 21 in Milton, Florida, but the rider accelerated to more than 90 mph—about 57 mph over the limit—and escaped after making an illegal U-turn at an intersection. Investigators later discovered a TikTok video that appeared to capture the chase and identified Walker as the account owner, with records confirming he owned a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja matching the motorcycle in the footage. Deputies executed a search warrant at a Milton home on Feb. 26, seized the bike—still equipped with an action camera pole—and say Walker admitted to being the rider, with his helmet and gear matching what was seen in the video. Authorities also linked another TikTok post to a separate Feb. 17 chase where a motorcyclist allegedly fled a deputy on U.S. Highway 90 at more than 100 mph. Walker now faces charges including two counts of fleeing or eluding law enforcement, reckless driving, and excessive speeding, and he remains in the Santa Rosa County Jail on a $21,000 bond.

FL Neighborhood Gets Visit From Pet Snake

WPTVIn Riviera Beach, Florida, neighbors called 911 after spotting a large snake coiled near a front door, prompting one resident to grab a gun and another a shovel as police rushed to the scene. An officer carefully guided the snake into a recycling bin and held the lid down with a brick until a wildlife trapper arrived. Authorities initially feared it was a python—which can legally be killed in Florida—but experts later identified it as a pet red-tailed boa constrictor named Pablo. The snake had been owned for about 20 years and escaped during the chaotic rush to the hospital when its owner’s wife went into labor. While the family was welcoming a new baby, their wandering boa was unexpectedly becoming neighborhood news.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Potty Dance Day

National Potty Dance Day is the annual reminder that civilization is just a thin layer of denim between you and chaos. It honors that universal two-step we all do when our body sends the kind of urgent memo that doesn’t allow for meetings, traffic, or “one more thing.” Somewhere, somebody decided we needed a holiday for it, and honestly, I respect the commitment to documenting human weakness like it’s folklore. So today we celebrate the sprint, the clenched-jaw optimism, and the reckless belief that you can make it—because nothing builds character like gambling against your own plumbing.
