What We're Talking About

The news we couldn't ignore if we tried

“Swiftie” Is Now an Official Word

“Swiftie” — the name for Taylor Swift fans — has officially made it into the dictionary. After years of global fandom, the term is now recognized alongside names like “Beyhive” and “Trekkie.” Proof the Eras Tour even conquered vocabulary.

When Ads Know Too Much

StudyFindsA new study says hyper-personalized ads can backfire when they feel too invasive. Instead of boosting sales, they trigger a “creepy” reaction that makes shoppers distrust the brand — and sometimes avoid it entirely.

Surprisingly, Breating Fire Is Actually Dangerous

ABC7Authorities are cautioning parents about a hazardous “fire-breathing” trend circulating on social media that has already hospitalized at least one teenager. The challenge involves young people attempting to create flames by blowing out flammable liquids such as isopropyl alcohol or nail-polish remover. In a recent incident in Pennsylvania, a teen suffered severe burns to her face and chest while trying the stunt, required intubation, and may face lasting injuries. Fire officials warn that the chemicals used are extremely flammable, with flames capable of spreading rapidly, causing serious burns, igniting nearby structures, or being inhaled into the lungs. Since the items involved are commonly found at home, authorities are advising parents to keep an eye on substances like rubbing alcohol and nail-polish remover, as well as lighters and matches, and to speak with their children about the risks of imitating viral online challenges.

Uncle Bobby

Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

March 11 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Snack Day

National Snack Day is that annual reminder that modern adulthood is just a series of tiny crunches between bigger disappointments. It celebrates the noble art of eating on purpose without the burden of calling it a meal, because commitment is scary and plates are for people with schedules. Brands will pretend it’s about “joy” while you stand in your kitchen at 2:17 p.m. eating pretzels like you’re defusing a bomb. Consider it a federally unrecognized holiday for the emotionally efficient: minimal effort, maximum salt, and just enough dopamine to keep you from emailing your ex.
