Don't Be The Next Victim - Scammers Continue To Target NWFL

WEAR TV3A resident of Fort Walton Beach lost $20,000 in a scam after receiving an email that appeared to use Fort Walton Beach Police Department letterhead and claimed to be from the Federal Trade Commission, authorities said. The complaint was reported Wednesday, and the email allegedly instructed the victim not to use her phone or contact police before she wired $20,000 to a bank account. Although she never spoke with anyone directly from the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, she told officers the individual involved claimed to be an FTC officer. Police are urging residents who receive suspicious messages from someone posing as law enforcement to contact their local police department directly and avoid using any phone numbers or links included in the message. While the report was made to Fort Walton Beach police, the investigation will be handled by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, which has jurisdiction over the case.

Millenials and Gen Z View Financial Well-Being VERY Differently

DailyMailThe report found that more than half of millennials consider themselves wealthy, compared with just 16% of Gen Z, highlighting a sharp difference in how the two youngest adult generations perceive their financial situations. Analysts suggest the gap stems largely from differing definitions of wealth, as many millennials now associate it with financial stability and comfort rather than millionaire status. In contrast, Gen Z often sets a higher standard while also facing pressures such as student loan debt, rising housing costs, and lower early-career earnings, which can make traditional financial milestones feel out of reach and dampen confidence. Additionally, experts note that social media and constant comparison may skew perceptions, causing some young adults to feel financially behind even if they are relatively secure.

Grillmasters: Dr. Pepper Flavored Sausage Gets Released This Weekend

PeopleJohnsonville has partnered with Dr Pepper to introduce a first-of-its-kind sausage inspired by the soda’s signature 23-flavor blend, promising a distinctive sweet-and-salty, or “swalty,” taste. To promote the launch, barbecue personalities the Grill Dads created a standout recipe featuring the sausage in smoked mac and cheese with fire-roasted jalapeños and generous amounts of melted cheese, highlighting how Dr Pepper’s caramelized sweetness complements smoky barbecue flavors. The new Johnsonville Dr Pepper sausage will be available in both fully cooked and raw varieties and is scheduled to arrive at major retailers such as Walmart, Kroger, and 7-Eleven beginning March 1.

Japanese Trend Has People Relaxing In Caskets and Coffins

NY PostA new wellness trend in Japan is drawing attention as some people opt to unwind by climbing into coffins as a form of meditation and self-reflection. Participants lie inside real caskets — sometimes even with the lid closed — to confront the concept of death and, advocates say, develop a deeper appreciation for life. Organizers emphasize that the practice is rooted in mindfulness rather than morbidity, aiming to help individuals reduce stress, reassess priorities, and view life from a renewed perspective. Sessions may feature guided meditation, silent contemplation, or even brief naps, reflecting Japan’s longstanding cultural tradition of contemplating mortality as a means of personal growth.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Chili Day

National Chili Day is that annual moment when America pretends a pot of meat, beans, and regret is a cultural institution instead of a delicious accident that got out of hand. Everybody’s got a “secret recipe,” which usually means they added cinnamon once and now won’t shut up about it. Offices do cook-offs so adults can cosplay as frontier heroes while quietly trying to poison Steve from accounting with “extra heat.” It’s warm, it’s communal, it’s slightly dangerous—and it’s the perfect gateway holiday for the chaos we’re about to endorse.
