Longwood And Mary Esther Elementaries To Close At End Of School Year

Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office Issues Warning Of New Scam

WEAR TV3— In Santa Rosa County, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office issued a warning about scammers impersonating law enforcement officers to trick residents—particularly the elderly—into sending bail money. Chief Deputy Randy Tifft said the fraudsters call victims claiming a loved one is in jail and urgently needs money wired for release, often using the names of real sheriff’s office employees, including his own and the sheriff’s, which they obtain from the agency’s website. The scammers sometimes pressure targets into sending hundreds or even thousands of dollars and may spoof the sheriff’s office phone number to appear legitimate. Officials emphasized that the department never requests money over the phone or contacts family members demanding bail payments, urging anyone who receives such a call to hang up immediately and contact the non-emergency line to verify the information.

Chivalry Isn't Dead In Utah

Fox13 Now— A woman in Salt Lake City experienced a frightening ordeal when police say 34-year-old Chadwell Clement Smith broke into her apartment around 2 a.m. through a slightly open door, allegedly armed with an axe and a knife because he wanted to ask her out. Authorities say the man hugged her, touched her legs, and claimed he had been “watching and loving” her for six months. A friend who was on the phone with the woman contacted police, who found Smith shirtless on her bed and took him into custody. He now faces several charges, including burglary and kidnapping.
