Local Shalimar Watering Hole Shuttered After Sunday Fire

WEAR TV3— A Sunday morning fire caused extensive damage to Shalimar Cheers Pub on North Eglin Parkway in Shalimar, Florida. The blaze began around 7 a.m. after an employee started cooking equipment and then stepped away to handle administrative tasks, later noticing flames and attempting to extinguish them before contacting authorities. Fire crews arrived to find the kitchen engulfed, with flames spreading into the attic and concealed spaces due to multiple past renovations. Firefighters were able to bring the situation under control quickly despite those challenges. No injuries were reported, but the pub suffered major roof and interior damage. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause, and nearby roads were temporarily closed as emergency responders, including the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Walton Beach Fire Department, assisted at the scene.

Florida Man Calls Himself "George Costanza"

Police became suspicious and used facial recognition technology to confirm his real identity.
