What We're Talking About

The news we couldn't ignore if we tried

Grounded by a Toilet and Nobody Wanted the Job

NY PostA JetBlue flight sat for hours, then got canceled because a toilet was clogged with human waste and nobody would clean it. Two passengers even volunteered. Still no fix. Turns out the final boss of air travel is… a backed-up bathroom.

Michigan Teacher Reaches 67 Years In The Classroom At Age 90

NY PostA Michigan teacher who once taught Robin Williams, Courtney B. Vance, and Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has earned a Guinness World Record for spending 67 years in the classroom. Beverly Hannet-Price, 90, was recognized as the longest-serving female language teacher after teaching thousands of students over a career that began in 1958 following her graduation from Albion College with a master’s degree in English, included teaching posts in Alabama and Florida, and continues today, fueled by a passion for education that has kept retirement off her mind; she was also present when Vance received his Hollywood Walk of Fame star in December.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Poop Day

National Poop Day, for those of you still clutching your dignity, is the sacred Monday after the Super Bowl—the karmic price of chili cheese dip and emotional damage. It’s the unofficial bowel reckoning, when America collectively regrets every jalapeño popper and buffalo wing that seemed like a good idea at halftime. Some say it’s about digestive health awareness; I say it’s about consequences. Like most things in this country, it turns out even our plumbing has a holiday.
