$7 Billion In Fraud Found In California... So Far

X - Collin RuggVice President JD Vance said authorities have uncovered roughly $7 billion in fraud in California, suggesting the problem there is far more severe than in other states and raising the question of how many arrests could follow nationwide. He contrasted California with Minnesota, noting that while fraud has also been found there, including an estimated $500 million in Minneapolis and the surrounding area identified by the Small Business Administration, the scale in California appears dramatically larger.

Powerball Winner Elects To Take Lump Sum

WPTVThe winner of the massive $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot from the Christmas Eve drawing has officially claimed the prize, opting for the one-time lump-sum payout of about $834.9 million before taxes instead of annual payments. After federal and state withholdings, the winner will initially receive roughly $600 million, with the final amount expected to fall in the high $400 million range once all taxes are settled. The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery confirmed the claim, noting that the winner completed all legal requirements and chose to remain anonymous, and that the jackpot became one of the largest in U.S. history after rolling over through dozens of drawings without a top winner.

Don't Place Your Engagment Ring On A Bed Of Snow

PeopleA 31-year-old bride from Chicago nearly lost her engagement ring during a snowy vacation photo shoot in Finland after briefly setting it on fresh snow for a picture, only for it to immediately sink and vanish. Free Ride Finally Comes To An End For Former Airline Employee

PeopleA former flight attendant has been arrested for allegedly posing as an airline pilot to fly for free hundreds of times, using a fake pilot ID and outdated airline credentials to book complimentary flights on at least three U.S. carriers over several years. The 33-year-old, Dallas Pokornik of Toronto, is also accused of requesting access to cockpit jump seats despite not being a certified pilot. He was arrested in Panama, extradited to Hawaii, and has pleaded not guilty to federal wire fraud charges, which could carry up to 20 years in prison and significant fines if he is convicted, in a case that has drawn comparisons to a real-life “Catch Me If You Can” scenario and raised concerns about lax credential verification in airline travel perks.

Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

January 24 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

I keep arguing with my partner about chores, and it feels like I am always the one losing the debate and doing more work. How do I stop getting pushed around and get things to feel fair?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Measure Your Feet Day

Measure Your Feet Day rolls around every January 23rd, because apparently someone looked at the calendar and thought, “You know what’s missing? Toe math.” It’s the one day a year where grown adults are encouraged to rediscover they’ve been lying to themselves about shoe size since puberty. No parades, no sales, just the cold realization that your left foot is a half-size bigger and your sneakers are a cry for help. Celebrate however you want—just don’t blame the holiday when you end up in orthopedic Velcros by spring.
