Federal Student Aid Used To Purchase Weapons In Nashville Shooting

FoxNewsRecently released FBI documents related to the 2023 Covenant School shooting in Nashville reveal new details about shooter Audrey Elizabeth Hale’s motives, planning, and finances, including journal entries, handwritten notes about preparing for the attack, and references to weapons she intended to buy. The more than 100 pages, released after litigation, include writings dating back to 2021 that cite hostility toward a Christian school as a reason for targeting the institution Hale once attended. Hale, 28, carried out the March 27 attack that killed three school staff members and three 9-year-old students before police fatally shot her. Records also show Hale described the attack as a “suicide mission” in a text message beforehand and kept financial notes referencing federal student aid and payments from an art college where she was enrolled, alongside firearm-related plans. Those materials appear to support statements from Hale’s parents that Pell Grant funds were used to purchase the weapons. Authorities previously recovered a manifesto and maps from Hale’s vehicle, but while some writings have been released, police and the FBI continue to withhold the full manifesto from public disclosure.

Beer So Strong It's Illegal In 15 States

FoxNewsSamuel Adams has released Utopias 2025, an experimental, barrel-aged beer with a staggering 30% alcohol by volume—putting it on par with many spirits and making it illegal in 15 U.S. states, including Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina. Part of the brewery’s Utopias program, the non-carbonated, ruby-black beer is designed to push the boundaries of aging and blending, with tasting notes of caramel, oak, dried fruit, smoke and citrus, and is meant to be sipped like a fine liquor rather than consumed like a traditional beer. Sold in 24.5-ounce ceramic bottles for a suggested $240 and yielding 12 to 24 small servings, Utopias 2025 can be resealed and stored unrefrigerated. Founder Jim Koch called it a milestone that reflects decades of experimentation, while experts caution that its extreme strength—far higher than standard beer—poses a serious risk if consumers underestimate its potency or drink it too quickly.

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Bacon Day

Bacon Day, for those keeping score in the dumbest Olympics, is the unofficial holiday where adults pretend processed pork is a personality trait. It usually falls right between Christmas hangovers and New Year regrets—perfect timing for celebrating heart disease with a side of irony. Folks slap bacon on everything from cupcakes to cocktails like it’s holy water, while chanting the gospel of nitrates and denial. It’s not a tradition, it’s a cry for help wrapped in grease paper.
