FBI Investigating Somali Fraud in MN - Are The Walz Closing In?

ReutersThe FBI has reinforced its investigative presence in Minnesota, with Director Kash Patel saying additional resources and personnel have been deployed as part of the Trump administration’s broader fraud probes, which have increasingly focused on cases involving members of the state’s Somali immigrant community. Federal officials have described Minnesota as a center of alleged large-scale fraud tied to federal social service funds, while immigrant-rights advocates argue the investigations are being used to unfairly single out Somali immigrants. Patel did not elaborate on his remarks, which followed social media posts highlighting allegedly inactive daycare centers that nonetheless received public funding; the video was amplified by Republican leaders including Representative Tom Emmer and Vice President JD Vance. Media reports say many defendants in recent Minnesota fraud cases are of Somali descent, and tensions have emerged between federal and state officials over how the investigations are conducted, as President Donald Trump has cited the cases in criticism of both the Somali diaspora and Governor Tim Walz.

Florida Man Goes Psychotic After Argument Over Football Game

WEAR TV3Authorities in Polk County say a 47-year-old Florida man fatally shot his wife, wounded his teenage stepdaughter, and later took his own life following an argument that began over a Monday Night Football game. Sheriff Grady Judd said the dispute escalated after the wife asked Jason Kenney to turn off the game, with Kenney reportedly drinking at the time, prompting her to tell her 12-year-old son to call 911. The boy ran to a neighbor’s house and heard gunshots, and deputies later found the wife, Crystal Kenney, dead and the 13-year-old girl injured and hospitalized; a younger child and a 1-year-old were unharmed. Kenney fled the scene and was later located at his father’s home, where he fatally shot himself as deputies attempted to make contact. Sheriff Judd also noted that Crystal had recently written her husband a note encouraging him to seek help.

Delinquent Student Loans Will Be Subject To Wage Garnishment In January

PBSThe Trump administration announced Tuesday that it plans to begin garnishing wages from student loan borrowers who are in default starting early next year, marking a further escalation of federal debt collection efforts. The Education Department said it will send initial notices to about 1,000 borrowers in early January, with the number increasing monthly, noting that borrowers must receive at least 30 days’ notice before wage garnishment begins. Millions of borrowers are currently in default, defined as being at least 270 days behind on payments, after pandemic-era protections ended and collections resumed, including the seizure of tax refunds and other federal payments. Critics, including the Student Borrower Protection Center, condemned the move, arguing the administration has not done enough to help borrowers access affordable repayment options and warning that wage garnishment will further strain families already facing rising costs and stagnant pay.

Dear Uncle Bobby,

A relative came to stay with us for Christmas and keeps saying things like “we’ll see how the week goes” and “no rush.” Christmas is over. New Year’s is coming. I’m starting to worry they’re not leaving. How do I get my house back without starting a family war?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 3

Still Need to Do Day

Still Need to Do Day is that sacred annual tradition where we all pretend to organize our lives by writing down everything we already swore we'd do back in January, but louder this time. It's a holiday built entirely on guilt, procrastination, and the fleeting hope that maybe, just maybe, a checklist will fix your personality. People celebrate by stress-baking, half-cleaning their garage, and looking up flights they’ll never book. It’s basically Lent for people who gave up on giving things up.
