NASCAR Driver Greg Biffle and Family Die in Plane Crash
AP/Newser— Retired NASCAR star Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, and their two children were among seven people killed in a tragic crash of their private jet while attempting to land at Statesville Regional Airport. The Cessna, which had just taken off, went down in a fiery impact with no survivors. Also killed were family friends Dennis Dutton, his son Jack, and Craig Wadsworth, all on board a flight meant to head to Florida and then the Bahamas. Biffle, known for over 50 career wins and his later humanitarian efforts, was a beloved figure in NASCAR, remembered for his fierce competitiveness, dedication to his family, and kindness. Tributes flooded in from the racing community, mourning his loss. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash, which occurred in rainy and cloudy conditions shortly after takeoff.

WPTV— A person was caught on surveillance video stealing a donation box full of toys meant for Florida families in need from the Barbecue Beer Co. restaurant. The box was dragged outside before the thief walked off with it.
