What We're Talking About

The news we couldn't ignore if we tried

Traveling For Christmas CAN Be Dangerous

Study FindsA new study examined various holiday risks, from icy roads and house fires to drunk driving and injury rates, to identify the most dangerous states for Christmas travel this year. Vermont topped the list as the most hazardous, with its guaranteed snowfall, icy roads, and harsh winter weather creating a high risk of crashes and injuries. Close behind were Wisconsin, known for high rates of excessive drinking, Oregon with many serious accidents, Colorado, and North Dakota rounding out the top five. In contrast, states with milder winters like Mississippi, Utah, Texas, and Virginia were considered the safest for the season, with fewer dangerous conditions. So, while Vermont may offer picturesque snowy views, travelers should be prepared for winter risks.

Last Minted Pennies Fet More Than $16 Million

NY PostThe last pennies ever minted in the United States recently sold at auction for a staggering $16.76 million. Held by Stack’s Bowers Galleries on behalf of the U.S. Mint, the auction featured 232 special three-coin sets, each containing a 2025 penny from the Philadelphia Mint, a 2025-D penny from the Denver Mint, and a 24-karat gold penny, all marked with a unique Omega (Ω) symbol to signify the end of penny production after 232 years. While most sets sold for tens of thousands of dollars, the final set, representing the very last pennies ever struck, fetched an incredible $800,000. The penny's retirement followed a production halt in November 2025 due to increasing minting costs, transforming this once humble coin into a valuable piece of American history.

Nope Rope Found Under Hood of Car

WMURAfter detecting a strange smell coming from his SUV, Tennessee resident Jesse Hodge lifted the hood and was shocked to discover a large yellow python curled inside the engine compartment, apparently seeking warmth. The non-native snake was believed to be an escaped or abandoned pet, and although Hodge contacted animal rescuers, it had died before they arrived. Relieved that the snake remained in the vehicle and didn’t make its way into his home through a doggy door, Hodge later shared that animal experts advised people to check under their cars for unexpected animals, particularly during colder weather.

Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

January 24 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

It’s the last couple weeks of the year, but my office is still scheduling meetings, setting deadlines, and acting like real work is happening. Everyone seems checked out, but we’re pretending otherwise. How am I supposed to handle this without losing my mind?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 3

Wright Brothers Day

December 17th, Wright Brothers Day—when we celebrate two bicycle mechanics from Ohio who stared at birds long enough to say, “Hell, we could do that.” They slapped wings on a lawn chair, flung it off a hill, and accidentally invented modern air travel and, by extension, airport bathrooms that smell like wet socks and regret. The government got involved two presidents later, as they do, and now we honor the miracle of flight by sitting in a tube of recycled farts while a toddler kicks our spine. It’s a holiday for dreamers, cynics, and anyone who’s ever screamed into a sky full of layovers.
