Get Ready: New Girl Scout Cookies Are Coming

Independent— The Girl Scouts are introducing a new rocky road-inspired cookie, “Exploremores,” set to debut in the 2026 cookie season. This chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted-almond sandwich cookie is a rare addition to their iconic lineup. Available for purchase online or at local booths starting in January, the cookies will help fund local Girl Scout councils and troops, with all proceeds supporting their educational and development programs.

$1 Billion Powerball Jackpot Expected

KTLA / Yahoo— Saturday's Powerball jackpot is set to surpass $1 billion after no one matched all six numbers in Wednesday’s $930 million drawing. The winning numbers for the December 10 drawing were 10, 16, 29, 33, 69, and the red ball 22. This latest rollover is expected to push the jackpot into the top seven largest in Powerball history.

Pensacola Contractor Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

WEAR TV3— Jesse LaCoste, a former Pensacola contractor, was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of probation on Thursday morning. LaCoste, 33, had been convicted in October of contractor fraud and theft, both second-degree felonies, in Escambia County. He faced up to 30 years in prison, with each charge carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years. However, Judge John Simon ruled that the sentences for each charge would run concurrently. In addition to prison and probation, LaCoste was ordered to pay $506,385 in restitution to his victims and is prohibited from working as a contractor while on probation. He received 750 days of credit for time already served.

Blue Angels Air Shows Announced For 2026

WEAR TV3— The Blue Angels have revealed their 2026 air show schedule, which includes performances in Pensacola. The Pensacola Beach Air Show is set for July 18, a bit later than usual, while the Homecoming Air Show at NAS Pensacola will take place on November 6 and 7.

States to Big Tech: Your AI’s Not a Therapist.

Reuters— A bipartisan pack of state attorneys general just put Big Tech on notice — Microsoft, Meta, Google, Apple, and nine others — saying their AI chatbots are spitting out what they call “delusional outputs” that can encourage people’s delusions and create real mental-health risks. They’re pointing to reports of a teen talking through a suicide plan with a chatbot, and they want companies to allow independent audits — with both state and federal regulators able to review these systems.

It’s like Valentine’s Day for capitalism—only instead of cheap chocolate and bad decisions, you get a commission check and a LinkedIn post no one reads. The day exists mostly so middle management can feel good about letting you keep your job through Q1. If you’re lucky, corporate might toss you a sheet cake and a branded mug, which is fitting, considering they’ve been selling you false hope in bulk since onboarding.
