What We're Talking About

The news we couldn't ignore if we tried

Black Friday Isn’t a Sale. It’s a Performance

Stores slap fake “regular” prices on junk, then pretend your 50% off deal is anything but theater. If you’re not checking prices elsewhere, you’re not bargain hunting—you’re paying extra for the privilege of feeling clever.

Thanksgiving Dinner Prices On The Decline This Year

NY PostThe American Farm Bureau Federation says the average cost of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for 10 has fallen to $55.18—a 5% drop from last year and the lowest since 2021—largely due to a roughly 16% decrease in the price of a 16-pound turkey, now about $21.50. But not everything is cheaper: fresh vegetable trays are up more than 60%, sweet potatoes have risen around 37%, and other sides are generally pricier, meaning families may save on the turkey but still face higher costs for several staples.

Hawkeye State Man Exposes Himself On Interstate For Fun

The Smoking GunAn Iowa man looking to add “excitement” to what he described as a dull life allegedly exposed himself along two suburban Iowa City interstates, police say. According to officers, 30-year-old Danan Ary twice stood behind his 2012 Chevrolet Impala with his pants down and shirt raised, deliberately revealing himself to passing drivers. He reportedly admitted to the behavior, telling investigators it gave him the sense of thrill he felt his life lacked, while also acknowledging he knew it was inappropriate and offensive. Ary, who has a significant criminal history, was arrested on two counts of indecent exposure and held on $5,000 bond before being transferred to state custody for what appears to be a probation violation tied to an earlier felony conviction.

Uncle Bobby

Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

November 30 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

Thanksgiving is this Thursday, and my family is already gearing up like it’s some kind of emotional Olympics. I love them, I really do, but every year I leave these gatherings feeling like I survived a hostage situation. Between the political debates, the guilt-trips, and the cousin who turns every board game into a war crime, I’m not sure I’m mentally prepared. How do I make it through the holiday without catching a charge?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day

Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day—a hallowed occasion where folks crawl outta the woodwork to juggle spoons, impersonate fax machines, or win arguments with their houseplants. It's the one day a year you're encouraged to show off that thing you do that nobody asked for but you insist is a gift. Like interpretive dance about your divorce or making balloon animals with existential dread. Society calls it “celebrating individuality”—I call it Tuesday at the bus station.
