Ask Uncle Bobby

Bad advice for good people.

As heard on the B-Team Morning Show

Each weekday, some poor soul writes in for help. Uncle Bobby gives them the worst advice we can legally put on the air.

November 30 · Today's Letter

Dear Uncle Bobby,

I work with someone who is always upbeat. No matter what happens — layoffs, broken copier, fire alarms, the AC going out — they smile and say it’s “a blessing in disguise.” Honestly, it’s making me feel like I’m the crazy one for not being thrilled about chaos. How do I deal with someone who refuses to acknowledge reality?

Today's Holidays

Celebrate the weird stuff. We do.

Holiday #1 of 4

National Absurdity Day

National Absurdity Day is the one time a year we pretend the world's nonsense is intentional, like putting a tuxedo on a possum and calling it performance art. It’s a celebration of the illogical, the irrational, and the kind of decisions that usually start with “trust me, I’ve got a plan.” People mark the occasion by doing things that make no sense—unlike the rest of the year, when they do the same thing but call it a career. So slap a snorkel on your mailbox and propose to a traffic cone, because today, reality called in sick.
